00:00All right, Dustin, story of the week in sports media, without a doubt. Sports Illustrated,
00:04which has certainly undergone some transformations beyond what we could have imagined five,
00:0910 years ago, apparently deleted a writer's profile over some AI plagiarism, which was just
00:16crazy. When I read the story, I actually had to read it twice. So tell people exactly what
00:20happened here. And as you can see, the accountability seems to be zero, right? At this
00:26point, like it's, it's just media just goes away. Yeah, it's, it's weird. And so this intersects
00:31with prediction markets because yeah, there's this great story by Dan Bernstein over at Sportico about
00:35how much activity is going on at Calci really around parlays. And he spent a lot of time doing
00:40this. He dug into data. This is not, this is not publicly available stuff. It was, it came from a
00:45lot of research. The data is public, but it's like, it's hard to get to. So like his story is,
00:50needs to
00:51be cited and linked anytime you're doing this, you can't just say, Oh, like this is out there. So
00:55anyway, SI, which has been standing up this prediction markets vertical, um, in terms of
01:01content, basically just like wrote a whole story about parlays at Calci and doesn't at
01:05all acknowledge Dan's work. Doesn't acknowledge, uh, doesn't link to it. Doesn't do anything.
01:09And then all, yeah, everybody like Dan sees as I see this, cause we follow everything that's
01:13going on in prediction markets world. And we're like, what the heck is going on here? You
01:17got it. You gotta cite Dan's work. And so the story goes away. Uh, the, the, the author's,
01:22uh, profile disappears and you know, uh, this is, this becomes a media story now and sort
01:28of a prediction market story, which is fascinating, awful announcing a lot of other, uh, futurism,
01:31a lot of other outlets pick this up. And this is like part of, you know, the, the, the downfall,
01:36I guess of SI is that it used to be a trusted brand. And now, you know, it just publishes
01:40stuff without, you know, citing links and doing all that, which is just terrible for journalism
01:44in general. And, you know, you, you and I who grew up with sports illustrated being
01:49like the, the end boss of sports journalism is now reduced to this, to publishing stuff
01:53and not editing it. And, you know, just, you know, ripping people off and it's, it's kind
01:57of a shame.
01:58It is. All right. Uh, let's get to an interesting prediction here for Cal sheet, Dustin, as we
02:03close it out.
02:05Yeah, we can bet on the weather, right? Uh, Craig, is it going to be, how hot is it going
02:09to be in Miami? I'm going to place a bet on this right now on Cal sheet 86, uh, 63
02:17% of
02:17people think it's going to be between 88 and 89 degrees tomorrow. Uh, you can bet on
02:22lots of weather at prediction markets and lots of major metropolitan areas. We talked
02:26about the one in France where, uh, you know, somebody was trying to get, get over on it
02:30over on poly market. But, uh, you know, if you want to bet on something other than
02:33sports, you can bet on the weather. It's good fun.
