00:00I'm great.
00:01The Red Sox are not.
00:02And Wiggy is off scheduled vacation day today.
00:06Not an issue with the uvula.
00:09But take my temperature on the Red Sox, Curtis.
00:12You could do it the normal way, please.
00:14Not the rectal way.
00:16Well, just all cards on the table.
00:18Whatever Wiggy had came to James.
00:21James was sick all day.
00:22I felt like ass yesterday.
00:24I did an emergency last night.
00:25I was not feeling well.
00:26I don't know what it is.
00:28But I figure if he was in here all week, it's already been here.
00:30I might as well come in.
00:32My temperature on the Red Sox is threat level midnight.
00:36I am terrified of the five-game losing streak,
00:39of the way in which they're losing these games.
00:43Baseball prospectus, updated odds.
00:45They have an 88% chance of making the playoffs.
00:47So Wiggy would say they're going to get there.
00:49And he's probably right.
00:51But obviously none of that was going to continue forever.
00:55But if we're going to get into the weeds, having the home field in that wild card was a major
01:02difference in the Yankees beating you last year.
01:04And having a three-game series all at Fenway Park versus being on the road would be a major difference
01:10and would be an impediment in you getting to the next round.
01:13So for all of those reasons, I am really concerned.
01:15Sox lose six to four last night.
01:17That's five in a row.
01:19I expected, I certainly did not expect that they would win out.
01:24But I did expect that there would not be a lengthy losing streak, and maybe I'm naive.
01:32So I thought, you know, historically you end up having the best streak that this team has ever had.
01:40And you got to fall back to earth a little bit.
01:43But I didn't realize that the fall back to earth was going to be five straight losses.
01:51So it's β now listen, all day yesterday people were like, Greg, I'm a real fan.
01:58You're not a real fan.
01:59You've given up on them already.
02:01I haven't given up.
02:02But it's very, very disappointing.
02:05That's all.
02:05And it's a bit worrisome, especially when you hear what Wilson Contreras said yesterday.
02:09And I brought it up yesterday.
02:10It's the timing of when this is happening.
02:12And for him to go out there and say, every game that we are playing as we get closer to
02:17September and October gets more and more important,
02:20and now you're in this losing stretch, that's what worries me.
02:23Because this is what we've seen kind of season after season with this Red Sox team, right?
02:27Yeah.
02:28Mike, I agree.
02:29And my question, honestly, right, do you think they're going to win these games?
02:34Because I watch these games now, even when they're up in the fifth, sixth inning, and I say, how are
02:39they going to lose it?
02:40Whereas before, even on Saturday, less than a week ago, it's 7-3.
02:44You're up in Lake Winnipesaukee.
02:46Everybody thinks they're going to hit a grand slam and tie it up with two outs in the ninth.
02:49Now I watch, and I think, how are they going to lose it?
02:51I know.
02:52It's a complete turnaround mentally.
02:55You're exactly right.
02:56You're watching not so long ago, a week and a half ago, and you're like, wow, they're going to find
03:02a way to win this game.
03:03I know they are.
03:04And now it's like they're going to find a way to lose the game.
03:07Exactly.
03:07So, has Sam bumped out of the appearances?
03:11No.
03:12Okay.
03:12Go Sam.
03:13What's next?
03:15Well, Greg, we heard from former manager of the Boston Red Sox.
03:18Let's hear from interim manager of your Boston Red Sox, Chad Tracy, talking about the Sox five-game skid and
03:25seeing if they can get out of it.
03:27Well, I mean, we're pretty battle-tested at this point, you know.
03:30I mean, it's, you know, I don't think it surprises anybody you're probably with, at the point where we're at
03:35with 50-some games, you're probably going to go through a rough patch.
03:37We're going through it now.
03:38We've got to fight our way out of it.
03:39Is there anything you can take from that last inning offensively?
03:41I hope so.
03:42Yeah.
03:42I mean, it's a collection of really good at-bats.
03:45Once again, get the tying run to the plate.
03:48So, yeah, you hope you can take something like that and carry it into tomorrow, for sure.
03:52That has been the case in virtually every one of these losses, Chad, is that you have the tying run
04:00at the plate.
04:01You have those that are on base that are left sitting out there.
04:07So, I don't β those who wanted the interim tag removed, do they still want that this morning?
04:14Is this just baseball, Curtis?
04:16It's a long season, or is there some alarm?
04:18You said threat level four or whatever this morning.
04:21Oh, midnight, yeah.
04:22I would say β I always find that to be an interesting excuse for a manager.
04:28So, when you win, it's just baseball, too.
04:31So, like, what would you say you do here?
04:34So, like, it isn't just baseball.
04:37There has been situational issues when it pertains to the baseball team and the decisions they've made and understanding what's
04:44going on.
04:45And I am not saying that it was all a mirage, but a little bit of urgency wouldn't be the
04:49worst thing in the world.
04:50So, they're now 10 games out of first place in the division.
04:52We once thought that was in play.
04:53That's gone.
04:55So, I β to just sit back and Wiggy it up and say, you know, they're going to make the
04:59playoffs.
05:00They'll be fine.
05:01It's fine for Wiggy and others.
05:02I don't want people in the organization to feel that way.
05:05Like, I do want β I don't know how that manifests itself, whether they get, you know,
05:09Roman Anthony out of the Homewood and back up to Worcester and see if he can get ready sooner rather
05:13than later,
05:13just to inject some, you know, some energy into this team.
05:15Yeah, I mean, you are going to get Roman Anthony back.
05:19Really?
05:19It seems like you're going to get Trevor Story back.
05:22I don't want Trevor Story back.
05:24You don't?
05:24Yeah.
05:25He's just β whatever.
05:26He's a β yeah.
05:28Why not?
05:29He's just β I mean, Trevor Story was not great.
05:31He's kind of a dink.
05:32He was the one throwing a fit when Cora got fired because he didn't want anybody holding him accountable.
05:36Like, I don't know.
05:36Not my cup of tea.
05:37I just think that you have to take into account β Greg's brought it up a bunch this week,
05:41but they've been dealing with illness throughout the clubhouse.
05:44You're tired after going on that run that you β that unbelievable run.
05:48But then you also have guys that are coming back.
05:51Like, I sometimes take a wiggy approach to this where I'm not pressing the panic button quite yet.
05:56Like, they're going to make the postseason.
05:57They should be a better team come the postseason, a healthy team, hopefully, knock on wood.
06:02So why are we going to get so bent out of shape about it?
06:05Yeah.
06:05I also feel β
