00:00And Boston Red Sox, game one yesterday, tied the franchise record, 15 consecutive wins, Wiggy.
00:08Yep.
00:09It was honestly an awesome moment.
00:14I was wary, myself personally, and as I was watching what was going on at Fenway Park yesterday, I was
00:22wary of over-celebrating a win streak.
00:26Because it's akin to the Colts putting up division-winning banners or whatever.
00:35Peaking too early.
00:36But I'm not worried about that.
00:38Just when it comes to what you're celebrating, listen, it's awesome, and the turnaround is the big part of it.
00:46So I get that, that there were many of us who had this team deader than Paul Anka just a
00:57month ago.
00:58So I understand the excitement, but you don't want to go too crazy when you are celebrating winning 15 in
01:07a row.
01:07But they get there, and then unfortunately, perhaps it was too much, and they were unable to get the sweep
01:16last night.
01:17It was a great environment.
01:18I was there last night in the second game.
01:20Oh, yeah.
01:20I forgot about that.
01:21How was it?
01:21You were there for the second game.
01:23Yeah, it was a great, great environment.
01:26Wife and I went with some friends.
01:28I think she might be the curse of the Boston.
01:31No, no, no.
01:31I think it's you.
01:32No, no, no, no, no.
01:33Listen, there were more people than I thought that were concerned about Chad Tracy being on the show yesterday because
01:40of the Hillman jinx.
01:41And I got to be honest with you, I was a little bit concerned about it as well.
01:45But the way I see it, Chad Tracy's on yesterday.
01:51Awesome guy, by the way.
01:52Yeah.
01:53Great interview.
01:54And they go on to win that game yesterday afternoon.
01:57So there is absolutely no jinx scenario there whatsoever.
02:01No, you spotted the O's four runs in the first inning, and then Bale came in and did an amazing
02:07job.
02:07It's one of those things, you know, to me, it wasn't could they win again or could they break the
02:14record?
02:14To me, I feel like the biggest thing with this team is now you lose a game.
02:20You've dealt with so much adversity all season long, and you've been on such this amazing high.
02:25How do you then, after the loss, recoup moving forward?
02:29So for me, I'm going to look at it, and you can get back to, maybe you're not going to
02:33go on another 15 in a row,
02:34but if you can get back to winning another series or two series, like the consistent winning after this is
02:40more important than setting the record, in my opinion.
02:43They were bound to lose one at some point.
02:48And the one they lost after the streak is to a good baseball team.
02:53So they ought to be able to get it back together.
02:56I mean, I was somewhat interested that Wilson Contreras and Sonny Gray dressed the team after the loss last night,
03:07not Chad Tracy.
03:09Chad Tracy let the veteran guys do it.
03:12And actually, Sean, if you have it, Wilson Contreras was asked about what he told the guys last night.
03:20Yeah, I think, like, I don't want anybody to feel down, number one.
03:24I want everybody to feel proud of what we did.
03:27We tied a record since 1948, something like 46.
03:31I mean, that's not easy to do.
03:32We make history.
03:34We play good baseball for two weeks or more, and we just lost one game.
03:39I mean, winning and losing is part of the game.
03:41I don't want anybody to feel down, but I want everybody to feel proud.
03:47Yeah, all right.
03:48He's the heart and soul of that team.
03:49You could tell.
03:50He is.
03:51You could tell even, you know, just the way that those, you know, I think he hit, like, I want
03:56to say it was like a double or something like that.
03:58And you could see just not only does the crowd get into it, but the guys in that dugout, you
04:03could tell, like, he's the heartbeat of that team.
04:05Yeah, and you got to credit Breslow on that.
04:09And, in fact, we asked him about it a bunch of times in the absence of Alex Bregman, who was
04:16going to step up and be the veteran leader on the baseball team.
04:20Good morning.
04:20It seems like it's Wilson Contreras.
04:23So, yeah.
04:25No, you are.
04:26And there's other guys, too.
04:28You know, it's like a dirt dog kind of thing.
04:30We were talking about that the other day, but we'll get to it during they said it, but what Caleb
04:36Durbin said about delivering the streak for this city and for the baseball fans was excellent.
04:45Yeah, you know, the thing about, and we've kind of been talking about this, and I know we probably got
04:50a little bit over a week for the trade deadline,
04:53but you just start to look at this baseball team, and you give Bresbott a ton of credit.
05:00Now I think his biggest thing is you have to do something to keep the fans, and not only the
05:08fans, but I think the team as well,
05:09but just to be like, all right, we believe in this team and believe in this team that you guys
05:13can win a World Series.
05:15And the reason why we believe that is because we're going to add somebody that's going to be a nice
05:19pop to the lineup.
05:21And so that's the one thing that I'm looking at now for Bresbott is I think this team is going
05:25to continue to win,
05:27continue to win series, continue to hold on to a playoff spot, continue to fight for the division.
05:32But are you going to bring in that extra bat that everybody, and even Tracy said yesterday,
05:39that everybody knows that you kind of need, like I think guys are playing well.
05:42He said that, but then he also said that you want to be, he went out of his way to
05:48say, to talk about the vibe,
05:50like the clubhouse vibe, or he didn't use that word though, whatever, however he said it.
05:57And not being careful about disturbing the marinara.
06:01So I think, I do think that if they're looking at moves they can make, that one concern is John
06:13Henry,
06:13and is he going to be willing to add payroll, and the other concern is the better player that you
06:20get,
06:20the better veteran player that you get, the more character and attitude that comes with said player.
06:29So I just, I wonder if there's a concern there when it comes to how big they're going to add.
06:36Well, I think there, there's always a concern when, and when we asked them there yesterday,
06:41and not even going out and getting guys, but even maybe, you know, he talked about guys coming back off
06:46injury.
06:47Well, you know, it's kind of the same thing, you know, you got to incorporate guys that haven't played in
06:51a long time,
06:52back into, into a lineup that has been doing well.
06:55But I think at the end of the day, what a guy coming from the outside in,
07:00the one thing we've noticed about this team over this, you know, like Contreras said,
07:05these past several weeks is that clubhouse chemistry.
07:08So I think bringing a guy in, they have a good clubhouse to be able to say,
07:13hey, here's how we do things.
07:14781 text.
07:16Greg, admit you were wrong about Bregman.
07:18I have been, I have been wrong about a lot of things about this baseball team.
07:23And I have, I have zero problem admitting when I, I mean,
07:27I feel like I'm more likely to go on a run than this team is correct.
07:32Correct.
07:32I have been wrong about a lot of things.
07:34And Craig Breslow intended Wilson Contreras to be the leader of this baseball team.
07:42And a 617 texter says that Contreras seems like 20 times the leader that Alex Bregman was.
07:49I mean, he just does things differently.
07:51Certainly Bregman seemed a little bit more quiet and reserved where if you go to games
07:57and you watch Contreras night in, night out, he plays with that, you know, that fire.
08:02And he's a little bit, he's more vocal as a leader, but that doesn't mean he's any better
08:06because I always bring up Troy Brown, who didn't really say much and was an unbelievable leader.
08:10So, yeah, but his personality is different.
08:12And obviously the production that you're getting from Contreras is much better than what you got from Alex Bregman.
08:20Hey, Grant, good morning.
08:22I wanted to do a football league today, but I just can't.
08:24The Boston Red Sox are too important.
08:26What they've done over the last two plus weeks has been remarkable.
08:31Like, we were making fun of this team because of how bad they were.
08:36We were calculating mathematically whether it would be possible for them to get to 100 losses.
08:45And now you're talking about being a legitimate playoff contender, buying at the deadline, being above 500,
08:51a place I did not expect this team to be.
08:54And they've done it in such an exciting fashion.
08:57Like, Fenway Park, as Lou said the other night, like, is snapping.
09:00It has been awesome.
09:02It has been an awesome atmosphere.
09:03I saw somebody that was at the game last night tweet out how it felt like a playoff game.
09:08Like, even though they were losing in that second game of the doubleheader,
09:10like, it felt like people were on pins and needles, like, ready for the team to explode.
09:15Unfortunately, they weren't able to come through.
09:16But that 15-game win streak should not be ignored.
09:19What they did was unbelievably impressive.
09:22They deserve so much credit.
09:24Chad Tracy deserves a ton of credit.
09:26The players deserve a ton of credit.
09:27Like, as much as we hate on Jaron Duran, and I wouldn't mind if he gets traded,
09:30I think he was a big part of this.
09:32Like, as much as we don't like him outside the clubhouse,
09:35I think the guys in the clubhouse actually like him.
09:37I bet I know what word your shadow would use to describe Fenway Park last night,
09:43if your shadow were able to hear us right now.
09:46What word would that be, Greg?
09:48Well, ask your shadow.
09:49Ask your shadow.
09:51Courtney, what word would you use to describe Fenway Park?
09:52What word, like, well, no, say, micro, you can...
09:56Electric.
09:59Nailed it.
10:01Just like in rehearsal.
10:02We're just bringing her back slowly.
10:05Slowly.
10:05Yeah, one word at a time.
10:06I like...
10:10Electrica.
10:11Yes, all right.
10:12So, and Wiggy was there.
10:13You said the same thing.
10:14Oh, that place was jamming.
10:15They saved our summer.
10:17Yeah.
10:17They really did.
10:18They saved the summer.
10:20To the point where I, after the win yesterday afternoon,
10:23I made sure to search out and be sitting down,
10:27watching the game, going for 16.
10:29Like, it was...
10:30For the first time,
10:31it felt like the Red Sox were appointment-watching television.
10:34Didn't you feel like you had to watch the game yesterday afternoon?
10:36You had to.
10:37You had to.
10:38And it was awesome.
10:39It was so good.
10:40I'm so happy that this team has done this.
10:41I'm excited for the rest of the season,
10:43and I hope they can continue it.
10:44Okay, we got to take a quick break,
10:46and we...
