00:11Ian, I'm going to say something to our audience here that I hope you're aware of, but I wasn't involved

00:18Mike was. You know he runs wild in the fantasy streets with you and Theo and everyone else.
00:23But you guys at Roto-Wire, I think, are going to be doing a regular gig with us on Fridays
00:29at 4.30 once football season gets here, and we're excited about that.
00:33I heard, man. I'm very pumped to be doing that as well.
00:36So, obviously, it's draft season right now. We've got to keep those minds right throughout the season.
00:40So, 4.30 on Fridays, man. We've got some injury news flying. I'm excited to be chopping it up with
00:44you guys.
00:45It's going to be great. Yes, indeed. Oh, you said chop it up. Oh, no.
00:47No. Mike can explain. Talking ball and chop it up are like, argh. My brain breaks. I'm old.
00:57Well, Ian, let me ask you this. How much variety – because I'm in one league, all right? I'm old.
01:04I'm in one league, and we don't draft until the Tuesday before the openers.
01:09So, I'm not looking at it a lot. But Mike is my conduit for all that stuff.
01:15How much variety are you seeing in drafts so far, say, in the top five?
01:20Is it pretty uniform, same guys, or is there some variety there?
01:28I feel like it's a little bit similar to the NFL draft where when you're looking at, again, just the
01:32top 32 picks.
01:33Maybe in fantasy, it's closer to five rounds. It's going to be fairly close, okay?
01:38Maybe some guy has Lab McConkie ranked wide receiver 13. Someone else has a wide receiver 17.
01:42But when there's so much attention being paid, these top dogs across each position, we're going to get some level
01:49of just uniformity, I would say, across the board.
01:52Where things start to get interesting, though, man, is round eight plus.
01:54We start having guys like Marshawn Lloyd creeping into round 10.
01:58We have the training camp hype.
02:00You know, the Cyrus Allens of the world is starting to go nuts, and all of a sudden, we just
02:03get a random highlight of Emeka Buka catching a ball against complete air, actively getting people to adjust their ranks.
02:10So, I would say, you know, just from where we were August 1st to now, not a ton of creepage
02:16in those first four or five rounds.
02:17But then again, man, you do have these other dudes on the hype rocket like Parker Washington where all of
02:21a sudden, yeah, you are seeing them creep in the top five or something.
02:24Yeah, how much does the training camp stuff, whether it's, you know, team footage being released of super slow-mo
02:32catches, like you said, against air, or even yesterday seemed like it was depth chart day.
02:38I don't know if that was across the league, but my Twitter feed was just full of unofficial, which I
02:44still don't really understand.
02:45It's from the team.
02:46Anyway, unofficial depth charts.
02:48The Bills had one, numerous other teams.
02:50Like, how, is that a meter mover for you at all?
02:56Almost entirely, no.
02:57We've had some hilarious ones over the years.
02:59B. John Robinson starting off as RB3 behind Tyler Auger, my guy Cordero Patterson.
03:04We had Justin Jefferson, wide receiver three behind not only Adam Thielen, but B.C. Johnson to start his career.
03:10I think we all saw how long that lasted.
03:12So, look, we've had coaches come out and say straight up that they have no idea where he's come from.
03:16I honestly think some teams probably just have an intern put it together.
03:19So, you know, is it a piece of the puzzle?
03:21I guess, but a very, very small one.
03:24So, for me, football's back.
03:26Look, I'm not going to be a hater and say it's not cool to watch, you know, fun catches.
03:29Like, D.J. Moore, you know, catching a bomb between three players last week.
03:33That's a fun time, okay?
03:34But is it going to completely change my opinion on how he fits into the offense?
03:38Probably not.
03:38I would say the biggest kind of advantage that we can take when we're trying to look at the depth
03:42charts and stuff over the next few weeks is first team usage in the preseason.
03:47Not even necessarily how the players are performing, but particularly in some of these running back committees, it is helpful
03:52to get three series in that first team offense and accordingly see, again, how often these guys are playing.
03:56Right.
03:57The preseason can be a bit of a trick, too, and it's a little backwards because sometimes guys who play
04:03are the guys who aren't valued, and the guys who are are the guys who are being hidden and protected,
04:08and so that can be a little tricky.

04:15Are there any guys, I asked you about, you know, uniformity within drafts, and you went right through, like, five
04:23rounds worth, and it's pretty uniform.
04:25Are there any guys, before we get into the Bills, because once we get into the Bills, I may never
04:29come out, that you're higher on than the rest of your community or even lower on?
04:36Like, is there, you got a flag plant guy at all out there or numerous guys?
04:41I'll say a little bit later, because, again, I mean, I laugh sometimes when people are like, oh, my God,
04:46look at the start of this fantasy draft, and yeah, you know what?
04:48If you throw a dart at five top 50 players, you're probably going to be feeling pretty okay, man.
04:52It's just more about those later rounds and trying to find the dudes that are going to be skyrocketing up
04:57the ranks once September actually gets here.
04:59Jordan Mason for the Vikings actually is someone who I think could be a bit of a post-hype star
05:03out here, okay?
05:04Wasn't bad last year, but also wasn't incredible.
05:07It was just more of an issue of that offense as a whole really being quite bad.
05:11Vikings running backs actually had the same number of carries inside the five-yard line as the Raiders, man.
05:16That's how future the J.J. McCarthy experience really was.
05:19So I'm not saying Kyler Murray's going to go out here and be a world beater, but if that KOC
05:23offense, man, could just go from being, again, very bad,
05:26something close to average or God forbid good, Jordan Mason's going to be the guy falling into the end zone
05:31inside the five-yard line.
05:33And seeing him going, man, literally outside the top 36 running backs really is surprising to me.
05:38So if you are, again, in that range, I say Jordan Mason, both commanders running backs, both Steelers running backs,
05:44and then Jonathan with an O, got to catch that, everyone.
05:47Jonathan Brooks with the Panthers, former second-round pick, he's finally back on his knee injuries,
05:52and he also seems like a good situation where, yeah, probably give you a little bit of flex upside if
05:57needed,
05:57but best-case scenario, we see him actually take that RB1 job and lead that fantasy squad in the playoffs.
06:02He's expected to play on Saturday here at Highmark Stadium when the Panthers visit the Bills.
06:07I saw that today.
06:09And Mason, for folks who, oh, I remember that guy, he first became known when he filled in for McCaffrey,
06:15and, like, their running game really didn't change much, right?
06:18Do I have that right?
06:19A hundred percent.
06:20We had that hilarious storyline where I believe it was a Monday night game, and he went nuts,
06:24and they were interviewing him after the game, and he said, yeah, I found that I was starting Friday night,
06:29and I've just been getting my mind right, and the entire fantasy community collectively lost our minds
06:34because we didn't find out until, like, Monday.
06:36So, got to love a fantasy football dress for some people.
06:38Yeah, that is tough.
06:40All right, on to the Bills.
06:42You know, unlike other years, I mean, now that Cook has broken through, rushing leader,
06:47all the touchdowns two years ago, last year he only, I think he had 12 instead of 16,
06:52so still very productive in that area.
06:56I mean, Cook and Allen, I think, probably lead the way here, not probably, almost definitely do.
07:01What are you doing with James Cook, and are you buying, speaking of, this is,
07:06my running back's going to be used as a receiver season, I think, as well as preseason, Ian,
07:12and there's a lot of chatter here.
07:14Pete Carmichael's over years with Sean Payton, how they've used Kamara over the years,
07:19and so there's a lot of talk about Cook in the passing game.
07:23We'll see if his blocking holds up enough for them to trust him to be on the field on those
07:27downs.
07:27But what are you doing with James Cook?
07:30My personal favorite August storyline is the running back's going to be used more in the slot.
07:34Right.
07:34Then we end up seeing, like, four total snaps throughout the entire season.
07:37But James Cook, for me, he's my RB6.
07:40I think he's perfectly fine at the end of round one.
07:42Now, you did mention, obviously, having Josh Allen near the goal line.
07:45It's kind of the same thing that hurt Saquon Barkley last year with Jalen Hurts.
07:48It's just a matter of, yeah, Cook and Saquon will obviously get theirs.
07:52But when you've got a quarterback as a yearly threat to score double-digit rushing touchdowns in their own right,
07:57it just makes that margin for error, you know, a little bit smaller.
08:00Luckily, the Bills have really been up there with the Lions as the most consistent top ten,
08:04even top five scoring offenses of the last five-plus years.
08:07So I'm not too worried about the group being bad.
08:09The pass game stuff, though, is interesting because if you just will go back into,
08:13I would say, maybe the end of 2023, and you're like, all right, how is James Cook really going to
08:18get going now?
08:19I think we would all assume it would have been more so as a receiver.
08:22But if anything, he's taking a step back.
08:24But you know what?
08:25The offense has been great.
08:26Ty Johnson does a great job doing what he's doing.
08:28So I don't want to necessarily say they're crazy for not using the guy.
08:31But, man, he did really flash in that 2023 season.
08:34Now, there were some drops, like three or four of them, on those wheels.
08:37But I always say, man, going back to the Will Fuller days, you've got to be pretty good as a
08:42receiver
08:43to be in a position to drop a touchdown in the first place.
08:45So I do think that James Cook, again, is a capable athlete, good at catching a football more times than
08:51not,
08:51even if we do have some ugly drops sticking out in our heads.
08:53So on the one hand, you see James Cook, and it's like, well, he hasn't been catching the ball all
08:57that much recently.
08:58But Ty Johnson, a little bit banged up, man, high-scoring offense.
09:02We know James Cook can rip off those big plays.
09:04If we actually see him in a position to catch 60, 70 passes,
09:08we can be looking at him way closer to guys like Gibbs and De'John Robinson this time next year.
09:13Yeah, that would be like double.
09:14He's like 33, 34 the last couple seasons, I think, as far as receiving goes.
09:20Sounds to me like if you trust his running production,
09:24even with the Allen vulturing touchdowns point you made, I mean, Cook is still, again,
09:28it's 28 touchdowns over the last two years, which is incredible.
09:31The passing game stuff, if it pops, maybe can be just treated like a bonus.
09:36So maybe you're getting value added if you're just picking him where you're picking him
09:40based on his rushing and receiving to this date.
09:44If it goes any higher than that, then maybe all the better.
09:48Do you trust the Bills to run reasonably close to what they've been running
09:54as far as play calls go because there's a little bit of talk here that Joe Brady is on his
10:00own now.
10:00He doesn't have to answer to Sean McDermott, and maybe they lean into Josh Allen a little bit.
10:05There's also, Ian, a new defense here that not all the parts, I think,
10:11are going to be exactly to Jim Leonard's liking.
10:14And if they're exploited or exploitable on defense, maybe that leads to more passing in general
10:21because your score effects in games are different.
10:25Hey, man, we'll take that, though, in fancy land.
10:28I mean, I go back to those a couple of years ago.
10:30It was like back-to-back, I think, December games, the Bills played the Lions and the Rams.
10:34They were like 90 points being scored combined out there.
10:38So Josh Allen certainly does his thing at fancy land regardless of if the Bills are winning or losing these
10:43games.
10:44But my goodness, once that dude actually has his back against the wall,
10:47you just see the fancy points flying on the board.
10:49So ultimately, again, I just think having the Brady-Allen partnership back,
10:53it's really tough to poke too many holes in this team.
10:55The only issue I would just have is if we still can't have any of these receivers
10:59really take a big step forward.
11:01Obviously, ever since Stephon Diggs left, it's really just been one miss after another, man.
11:06So I would like to think that DJ Moore could be that answer.
11:09But it's just one of these things, man, where, you know, again,
11:12we're trying our best to predict the future.
11:13The DJ Moore conversation, though, is going to be hilarious.
11:16Because on the one hand, you can just say, it's DJ Moore.
11:18He's Josh Allen's number one wide receiver.
11:20Why are we overthinking this?
11:21But on the other hand, we have three straight years of this dude's numbers going down.
11:25I happen to have a lot of respect for Ben Johnson and what the Chicago Bears do on offense.
11:28And the fact that he really couldn't get anything going there over these past two seasons,
11:33at least, it's concerning to me, man.
11:35So, you know, seems like good vibes right now in August.
11:38Love to see it.
11:38But when I hear DJ Moore wasn't a good fit and one of the smartest offensive minds in the system
11:43because he quits on his routes or he rounds them off, like, I don't know, man.
11:47Some of the reasoning behind why DJ Moore is going to be so much better with Joe Brady hasn't exactly,
11:52you know, made all that much sense to me.
11:54But, you know, Moore and Brady do have their history together.
11:56So we'll see if it works out.
11:57Yeah, right, indeed.
11:59And, you know, there's also the question, if they're going to throw it more, fine.
12:04Will they throw it more to a number one receiver?
12:07There is not a ton of evidence here, but Joe Brady took over midstream in the 23 season, I think
12:16it is.
12:16And then Diggs' production went way down.
12:19And Shakir out-targeted him dramatically in the last seven, eight, nine games of that year,
12:25including the playoff loss.
12:26So there's that.
12:28Like, will the Bills schematically try to feature a number one receiver?
12:34I kind of think that's probably nuts.
12:36I think if somebody gets open more than everyone else, Josh Allen's going to throw them the ball.
12:40Yeah, and look, it's worked for them.
12:42Everybody eats.
12:43It's been one of the best offenses in the NFL.
12:44So, you know, if it ain't broke, don't fix it type of situation here going on.
12:48So I also do think that, you know, DJ Moore, even though he's not over 30 yet,
12:52we are talking about year nine at this point.
12:54This dude's been in the league for a long time.
12:56I just really struggle to think that he's going to be able to provide the same impact
12:59as literal prime Stephon Diggs when he was in there.
13:02So that said, certainly should be an upgrade over guys like Josh Palmer.
13:06You know, we have Brandon Cooks out there trying to catch, you know,
13:09some key passes with the season on the line.
13:11So very, very low bar.
13:13And, hey, just having DJ Moore, I know some people question, you know,
13:17the amount of kind of draft capital they gave up to get him in the first place.
13:19But at a minimum, you could not go back into this season with a straight face,
13:23not having made any upgrades to the room.
13:26So from that standpoint, you know, at least they're trying.
13:28Believe me, Ian, it was not lost on a lot of us here in Western New York
13:31that the final two passes of last season were thrown to Nicole Hardman Jr.
13:36and Brandon Cooks.
13:37I mean, this is where I say nothing against either guy,
13:40but obviously it's against either guy.
13:42I mean, come on.
13:43Well, that's the thing, man.
13:44Like, us fantasy people, all of us nerds,
13:47like we're known for holding on too long to these mediocre wide receivers.
13:50But I'm looking back at the Bills' signings over these last three years,
13:53and it just looks like a really sad dynasty team, man.
13:56LaVisca Chennault, Quintez Cephas, Chase Claypool, Marquez Valdez-Scantling,
14:00KJ Hambler, the list goes on and on.
14:02So, yeah, I would like to believe DJ Moore is going to be the one to break this streak.
14:06But we're talking about probably Mack Hollins being the best receiver
14:10the Bills have brought in the last two years.
14:12And that's, like, respectfully, man.
14:14Mack Hollins is fine, but I'd prefer to have someone better at some point.
14:17Yeah.
14:19You left out Elijah Moore, by the way.
14:22Thousands of us still believe.
14:23Yeah, right.
14:24The Elijah Moore truthers.

14:29How about Dalton Kincaid?
14:31That's a guy that all the metrics, like the yards per route run and, like, target,
14:38all the stuff, he's, like, through the roof.
14:40But he plays, you know, below 50% snap share here.
14:45And there's been a couple of things working on you that way.
14:50One is his health.
14:51The other is everybody eats and the personnel packages and everything they've got.
14:56They've still got Dawson Knox.
14:58They've got a third tight end they love as a blocker in Jackson Oz.
15:01You've got a very nice slot receiver in Khalil Shakir.
15:04And then the rest of the receiving core.
15:07So is Kincaid not playing as much because of the crowd or is it because of his health?
15:15He's had what seems like this is one of these things you can pay attention to in the summer,
15:18I think, and maybe get, you know, misled if you go too far reacting to it.
15:24But he's been healthy here all summer and really spring and summer, which you couldn't say the last few years.
15:31So we'll see what kind of durability there is once we get to the season.
15:35But Kincaid might be the hardest nut on this team to crack because of his playing time.
15:41And it's also August where everyone is in the best shape of their lives.
15:44So I'm with you.
15:45I've been trying to figure this out for months now because Brandon Dean earlier is offseason.
15:49Also, I believe Joe Brady mentioned that they were, in fact, limiting Kincaid reps because of that knee issue.
15:55So if the knee issue is fixed, you would like to think they lean into all those great efficiency stats
16:00that you just mentioned.
16:01And accordingly, you know, release this guy.
16:03We just talked about some of the sad dudes that we had, you know, catching,
16:07trying to catch the football at the season on the line.
16:08And why wouldn't you want to lean more to Dalton Kincaid?
16:11I think the Bills want to, man.
16:13Again, they should try to get their best players on the field as much as possible.
16:16And clearly Dalton Kincaid is one of those in the pass game.
16:18So I am optimistic that we could see a bigger role for the guy.
16:22And the good news in Fantasyland is he really is being priced closer to his floor than his ceiling.
16:27Because he was so efficient last year, I think he finished somewhere around tight end 13, even on that part
16:32-time role.
16:33And guess what?
16:33That's about where we're drafting him.
16:35So if you are in that late-round tight end, you know, kind of land,
16:37you can always find your Hunter Henry or Bretton Strange or Dalton Schultz.
16:41With all due respect to those guys, there's always going to be that.
16:44Again, maybe you can fall into the end zone, catch four passes for 50 yards type of player.
16:49Dalton Kincaid and then a guy named Terrence Ferguson out there with the Rams.
16:52So those are the two dudes where if we do get out of week one and we say,
16:56holy crap, they ran around 75% of the quarterback's dropbacks,
16:59they are going to be skyrocketing up the ranks in a hurry.
17:02Because it wasn't that long ago when we thought Kincaid would have the full-time role.
17:06He was a consensus top six tight end in the preseason.
17:08Maybe just maybe the community as a whole is a year or two early.
17:11Let's hop around the league a little bit.
17:13We'll stay in the AFC East here to start out, Ian.
17:17How big a splash do you think A.J. Brown's about to make in New England?
17:21I think potentially huge, man.
17:23I mean, you're talking about a motivated top five consensus real-life wide receiver of the last half decade.
17:28I know there were some ill-time drops last season, have one in the last drive against the Niners,
17:32and that Chargers game got pretty gross.
17:35But the way you talk about, I mean, the way I would say, like, people talk about A.J. Brown,
17:39you'd think he'd be washed, not someone fresh off still posting top 12 fantasy numbers last season.
17:44And that was after battling a hamstring in the early going.
17:47So, again, understand the Eagles moved on.
17:49Didn't seem like things were going great in the locker room.
17:51But motivate A.J. B. with his old pal Mike Vrabel and then the best pure passing quarterback of his
17:57career in Drake May.
17:58I have a wide receiver five, and I'm scooping them up every draft I can get.
18:01How about the Chiefs?
18:03Kenneth Walker maybe at the top of the list there once you get past, obviously, the quarterback.
18:07Although that maybe is a question coming off the knee injury.
18:12How about the Chiefs and Walker at the front of the line?
18:15Yeah, man.
18:15Mahomes is going to be cheaper than ever.
18:17You're seeing him like round 13 of drafts these days.
18:19Because, unfortunately, that passing upside just hasn't been there these last three years.
18:23But that's what happens when you kind of run the entire offense through such a limited player like Rasheed Rice.
18:28I've equated the Rasheed Rice Chiefs thing to like if the Bills just insisted on,
18:32and this is respectfully, Khalil Shakur, he does a lot of good things.
18:34But it would be like if the Bills just said, we're making Khalil Shakur our focal point no matter what.
18:39That's what it seems like Kansas City consistently does with Rice.
18:43But to your main point, it should be the Kenneth Walker show.
18:45Obviously, Mahomes coming off that knee.
18:47It would make sense if they tried to take it a little bit off his plate.
18:50And just 43 million reasons, man, for them to try to get Walker going more so as a receiver.
18:54Chiefs running back since 2022 when Walker entered the league.
18:58Dead last in explosive runs and in missed tackles forced.
19:01Kenneth Walker is number two and number eight in those categories, respectively.
19:04How about Travis Kelsey?
19:07I mean, look at him.
19:08He's old, man.
19:0936, 37 at this point.
19:11So, he did get his yak.
19:12Got him going a little bit last year.
19:13But, unfortunately, not one, not two, but three drops that directly turned the interception.
19:19So, I do think that's kind of the reason why we don't remember him as fondly.
19:23But, hey, still might go out there and catch 80 passes.
19:25Obviously, he has the mind-blown chemistry with Mahomes at this point.
19:28But in fantasy land, obviously, best days are in the rearview mirror.
19:32But, you know, we'll hear his name in Canton before too long.
19:34So, credit to him on a fantastic career.
19:36How about C.J. Stroud?
19:37Very rough playoffs.
19:39The year overall maybe wasn't great.
19:40There were some injuries.
19:42Are you betting on a bounce back there?
19:45And how does his play affect what you're doing with, say, like, Nico Collins, for example?
19:49He actually was better in the regular season last year than he was in the down 2024.
19:55But you're not kidding about the playoffs, man.
19:57Ten combined interceptions and fumbles in those two playoff games.
20:01I mean, that's the same amount as he had in 14 regular season games.
20:04So, cannot overstate how just brutal it was.
20:06I would like to think that year two, finally, you know, with Nick Haley can get his feet under himself.
20:11They got Tank Dell back, hopefully close to 100%.
20:14Maybe he can provide them that kind of lid-lifting field stretcher again.
20:18But I just look at his offensive line.
20:20Houston and Cleveland over these last few years, they just keep swapping out pieces.
20:24And you look at them and you say, well, at least it's not the same guys we had last year.
20:27But then you look a little bit closer and you also say, I don't know if this group is going
20:31to be all that much better anyway.
20:32So, I do think that Houston-Texas defense, you know, your Bills fans found out too, absolutely ferocious out there.
20:39So, I think it's going to be ball control leading on that defense and probably a lot of work for
20:43their new RB1, Mr. David Montgomery.
20:45Yeah, that's the Bills opener, Houston.
20:47And, yes, we all remember.
20:49One last one before you go.
20:52Mike teases me.
20:53I've been kind of high on Cam Ward.
20:55I felt like, I guess I'm a Cam Ward truther or whatever.
21:00I'm in denial maybe.
21:01I thought there were some really good throws last year.
21:04And I know it was erratic and more bad than good.
21:07But I kind of believe in him.
21:09What about him and Carnell Tate?
21:10Do you believe in that at all?
21:13I hear you, man.
21:14There were two or three throws per week from Cam Ward that really did just make you understand why just
21:19he went first overall in the first place.
21:20I just look at that offensive environment, though.
21:23And, yeah, they added Juan Dale Robinson.
21:25They drafted Carnell Tate.
21:26He's still just 21 years old.
21:28I do, you know, reside in Columbus, Ohio.
21:30So, certainly do love me and my Buckeyes wide receivers and everything.
21:33Still, though, that offense, if we want to go ahead and rank the supporting cast one through 32, they're going
21:38to be a lot closer to 32 than one, even a lot closer to 32 and 16 as well.
21:42So, last point would just be, I know Brian D'Abel liked Cam Ward, but is Brian D'Abel really
21:48the schematic genius?
21:49Man, kudos to him, I guess, for helping out Josh Allen.
21:52I kind of find it insulting to think that Josh Allen couldn't have figured it out with anyone else.
21:57And then just looking at the Giants, so many years to get the most out of Daniel Jones.
22:01And then we immediately see this dude leave for Indianapolis and become a world beater, unlike the likes we ever
22:06saw before.
22:07So, a lot of question marks about that, again, coaching staff in Tennessee and the overall roster.
22:11I think it's going to be another frustrating year for the Titans on, you know, paper, just in terms of
22:16the win-loss column.
22:17But I am excited to, again, watch those handful of highlights per week, because that dude can't swing it.
22:21I know I said last thing, but I just thought of something else.
22:23Halfley, the new Miami coach yesterday, said he can envision a scenario where, in games, A-chan gets 40 touches.
22:32Over to you, Ian.
22:35I don't care about this dude's well-being, I hope not, but I guess they are paying him a pretty
22:38penny.
22:39So, got to go earn that cheddar somehow.
22:41I will say, man, the Dolphins' offense, I'm looking at it right now, I'm over the cap.
