A dramatic security operation reportedly helped protect U.S. President Donald Trump from a potential Iranian threat during his departure from the NATO summit in Ankara, Turkey, on July 8, 2026.
According to reports, Trump appeared to board the older blue-and-white Air Force One in front of cameras, creating the impression that he would leave Turkey aboard the presidential aircraft. Instead, he and a small group of aides reportedly slipped into an airport catering truck positioned near another exit.
The truck then drove across the tarmac and took Trump to a smaller C-32A military aircraft, a modified Boeing 757. Meanwhile, White House staff and reporters remained aboard the older Boeing 747, which departed as a decoy.
Trump reportedly flew secretly to RAF Mildenhall in England, arriving shortly before the decoy aircraft. His exact transfer back to the presidential jet remains unclear.
The reported maneuver came after U.S. intelligence identified a specific Iranian threat against Trump. Later, Trump told reporters that he faces threats constantly and claimed he was “Number One” on Iran’s target list.
The White House and U.S. Air Force emphasized that the presidential aircraft has advanced security systems designed to protect Trump and his staff.
