US President Donald Trump said on Aug 11 that the plane he flew on after he secretly took a military flight was actually "at greater risk" compared to the Air Force One that he was supposed to fly out with the press and other White House officials.

He was asked about the switch from Air Force One to a catering truck and a smaller military plane in Turkiye before getting back on the new Air Force One in England on July 8, due to an assassination threat.

00:01So
00:42President, can you tell us about your ride on the airport catering truck in Turkey?
00:47Why did you need to do that?
00:48Well, it's only up to Secret Service.
00:50I just follow what they'd like to do.
00:52So I go by Secret Service and the military.
00:56They wanted me to go on a different flight, a different plane.
01:01Equal safety, but they wanted me to do it, so I do it.
01:04I do what they say.
01:05Why did they want me to do that?
01:08I guess there was a threat out there.
01:10I didn't really ask there much about it.
01:11I get a lot of threats.
01:15Perky flight, Air Force One still flew out of Perky with press.
01:20It would light out the signals on it.
01:22How much of...
01:22Well, this one went over to England where it was shown to the soldiers.
01:27But was it still at risk?
01:28No, I know, but this one went over to England because the soldiers wanted to see it.
01:32Right, right.
01:32And it stopped, and they showed it to the soldiers, and we did a switch over there.
01:36And it was really, as for the military, and I just have to do what they say.
01:41They go for safety, and I have to do what they say.
01:44Why was it too dangerous for you to fly on Air Force One, but not too dangerous for the
01:48I think, actually, the plane that I flew on was at greater risk.
01:52Why do you say that?
01:53I think it was at greater risk because that would be the plane.
01:55I think that they would be more likely to go for it.
01:59President.
02:01No, not surprised.
02:02I have a lot of threats.
02:04I have a lot of threats that you don't know about.
02:07Any consequential president has a lot of threats.
02:10Non-consequential presidents don't get threats.
02:13And I think that I'm maybe the most consequential president.
02:17How close was Iran to pulling something off?
02:19There's nobody who's done more than me in a period of almost six years.
02:23There's nobody.
02:24Were you worried about a shoulder-fired missile?
02:27Uh, I don't worry about anything, to be honest.
02:30Whatever it is.
02:31You know my attitude?
02:32Whatever.
02:34I don't trust Iran.
02:35Why?
02:36Are you saying I trust Iran?
02:37I'm the last person to trust Iran.
02:40They've lied to me constantly.
02:41We have total control over the Harmoes Strait right now.
02:45They don't have control.
02:46We have total control.
02:48We own it.
02:49And they're no longer the bully of the Middle East.
02:51Thank you very much, everybody.
