00:00Hello. Here we are. It's Mental Health Awareness Month, and I want to share with you a few thoughts that
00:09I have about this, because as some of you may know, some of you may not, but for 20 years
00:15I've been working with children on the very thing to create more health, more mental fitness for our children.
00:22Back then, 20 years ago, it was devastating to learn that our 10-year-olds were actually committing suicide, which
00:31put me into a place of, I have to do something. So I created this program called Mind Up.
00:37Today, 20 years later, more than ever, we need to understand how to create more mental fitness, but not just
00:46for children, but also for us.
00:49The world we know is upside down. Every time I turn on TV, I look at all of our news
00:56and so forth that I almost feel so helpless that I don't know what to do.
01:02I get a little bit of brain frenzy. I start to feel unstable. What's going to happen? Because we don't
01:09know so much. In the meantime, the one thing that we need to focus on is the strength and the
01:17intention to create better mental health for ourselves.
01:22We don't need to change the world. We don't need to change the world. We don't need to change the
01:25world. We don't need to do any of that. But what we do need to do is become aware, become
01:29aware of our mental state to be able to understand that when we are feeling this way, that we need
01:36to take a break because only us can change ourselves.
01:42Therefore, I'm going to give you a few tips this week, things that we've done, stuff that I've done with
01:49children, and that it works, and the research has proven that.
01:53So I say, let's take time out for ourselves. And one thing is that when we're feeling sad, anxious, panic
02:03attacks, and I've had them all, we have to share it with each other.
02:07Don't make this a thing that you can't talk about. Please, talk with your friends. Engage them with the importance
02:16of supporting each other when we're not feeling good.
02:19Because today, we are reaching an epidemic of mental disturbance. Some of us need help and reach for it. Others
02:28need friends. Call them.
02:31And also, whatever you can do to help someone will also boomerang right back to you.
02:39So take care of yourself. And think about mental health all month.
