00:00Mind Up, I thought of about 23 years ago. I can't believe it. It's a long time.
00:09However, those were the days actually where I think 2000 and we literally were looking at our
00:15children's mental health. I really wanted children to feel joyful and knowing that children who are
00:24happy and classrooms that are optimistic can, you know, basically a child can learn better
00:30and have a better experience. So I then looked into the state of mind of children then and it was
00:38not good. Our kids were really in bad shape. I thought, what? It really freaked me out because we
00:45had our children who were committing suicide at 10 years old, 10 taking their lives. It was the third
00:51leading cause of death between 10 and 15 years old and now it's actually worse. My point is, is that
00:58I had to do something. So what I did was, is I pulled together some things that I thought were
01:04very
01:05important. For instance, why do we ask children to learn when we don't give them any understanding of
01:11what they learn with? They don't know what's going on in their brain. They have no idea about their
01:16brain. One child said, I didn't even know I had a brain. I didn't even know I had anything in
01:21there.
01:22So from kindergarten to eighth grade, our children in MindUp program actually have learned about their
01:29three parts of their emotional brain. They understand how to manage their emotions. They have three brain
01:35breaks a day in the classroom, which actually settles down their brain, gives their brain a break and
01:41actually prepares them for a reset for learning. So it's a beautiful program. It's been highly researched
01:48over the years and we're pretty much in a lot of places in the world.
