00:00Former UMNO Supreme Council member Puat Zarkashi has mocked Barisan Nasional and Perikatan Nasional
00:06over their Malay-Muslim unity rhetoric amid a deadlock over seats in Melaka.
00:11In a Facebook post, Puat claimed both coalitions had changed their tone because of their greed
00:17for more seats in the coming state election.
00:20He pointed to BN's intention to defend all 21 seats it won in 2021,
00:25while PAS has indicated that cooperation in Melaka may differ from the arrangements in Johor and Negeri Sembilan.
00:33Puat argued that the earlier narrative of uniting the Ummah had quickly disappeared,
00:38describing it as deceitful rhetoric rather than genuine unity.
00:42BN and PN had campaigned on Malay unity in Negeri Sembilan,
00:46where they jointly won 25 of the 36 state seats and secured a two-thirds majority.
00:52BN Chairman Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has maintained that cooperation with PN will continue in Melaka,
00:58but also later said BN intends to defend all 21 of its existing seats.
01:04PAS President Abdul Hadi Awang has played down the dispute,
01:07noting that preliminary seat negotiations are still ongoing.
01:11Meanwhile, Wawasan President Hamzah Zainuddin has urged both coalitions
01:16to adopt a give-and-take approach in the talks.
