00:01DAP should stay in the cabinet to keep the government on its reform path,
00:05says party vice chairman Sharitzan Johan.
00:08In a Facebook post, the Bangi MP warned that leaving the cabinet
00:12would weaken Pakatan Harapan's ability to deliver on its election promises.
00:17The single most important reason why DAP should remain
00:20is to ensure that this government sticks to the path of reform, he said.
00:25Sharitzan described DAP as the beating heart and conscience of the Madani government,
00:31arguing the party helps keep the administration focused on reforms.
00:36He pointed to measures already achieved, including the Parliamentary Services Act,
00:41amendments to the Audit Act, the Malaysian Media Council and reforms to parliament.
00:46Other proposals tabled this year include limiting the Prime Minister's tenure,
00:51separating the roles of Attorney General and Public Prosecutor.
00:55and introducing a freedom of information law.
00:58Sharitzan said DAP must remain in government to ensure these reforms are pushed through,
01:04warning that leaving would mean surrendering its political leverage.
01:07More than 4,000 DAP delegates will vote on Sunday
01:10on whether the party should remain in government posts
01:13for the rest of the parliamentary term.
01:16Amadeep Gill, FMT.
