00:00The people in that area were not treating her the best.
00:02When they found Yami, she was fighting for her life in the streets.
00:09She was really thin, really frail, and she had quite a bad tick.
00:15So it was obvious that she had distemper.
00:18Some people would throw rocks at her.
00:21Someone was throwing cold water.
00:23It was just causing her more trauma.
00:26She was becoming fearful of people.
00:29She was hiding underneath cars, underneath homes.
00:33She was in really rough shape.
00:35The Cantu Foundation found her.
00:38She was really shy, really scared.
00:40But at our sanctuary, she got the medical attention that she needed.
00:44It did take a little bit of time to find a foster and come to San Diego.
00:48When I got her, I remember the first week she was still really shy.
00:53I didn't know what to expect because she was a distemper survivor.
00:59Instantly, she became, I think, really fond of me.
01:03But the world was very overstimulating for her.
01:06Our walks outside would last no more than ten minutes before she started to pull me to go back home.
01:12It made complete sense knowing her past in the streets.
01:17But after a few weeks, I started to see that change within her.
01:21Now she's loving, playful, always trying to say hi to everyone that walks by.
01:28Having Yammy as my foster pup.
01:32Oh no, I'm getting emotional.
01:35What I find really inspiring is just her ability to trust again.
01:40Yay, it's fine.
01:42She's like, are you crying again?
01:44I'm so glad.
01:45I'm excited for her to find that family that is ready to give her all the love that she deserves.
01:51That's very beautiful, love, that she doesn't have some help!
01:52Good to eat it on me, baby!
01:52Good to eat it…
01:53And so I'm definitely AaaThe Sh multicultural!
01:59Good to eat it on me!
