00:00All right, so the White Sox kind of owe it to their fans.
00:02I understand why they are trying to go for it a little bit.
00:05And I'm not sure it's the right idea, but you know what?
00:07There's been so much discourse and bad vibes for the White Sox, Tom,
00:11that I feel like they got to try a little bit here.
00:13So they took care of the Yankees.
00:14That was impressive.
00:16Really big win for them Friday night against Tampa Bay
00:18and then lost just 1-0 to the Rays.
00:21So they've played good baseball all season long,
00:23and I feel like that front office and that ownership are kind of like,
00:25you know what?
00:26But, you know, we've had this opportunity before when we had Eloy Jimenez
00:30and Mankata and Robert.
00:32We really didn't go for it.
00:34We really didn't do enough.
00:35Maybe they're, like, trying to correct that wrong.
00:38Yeah, they've had a decent stretch, you know, split the series versus the Yankees.
00:42They've got to try and salvage a win against the Rays on Sunday,
00:45which will be huge for them.
00:46The thing that I would say for the White Sox is you can take swings,
00:49but have them be very cautious swings.
00:52You shouldn't be overreaching to get a big player based on where they are
00:56in their, essentially, team development cycle.
00:59Like, they are on the front foot of starting their rise to compete.
01:03You don't want to jump ahead of that and jump a hurdle and say,
01:05okay, we're now going to bring in players and give up all these assets.
01:08Like, you should be taking very cautious approaches to the trade deadline
01:11because ultimately, even if you swing and miss on one or two players,
01:14you still have a good foundation for the next set of years,
01:17and then you'll be in a good spot year in, year out.
01:19But it did take a big swing, adding $20 million to their payroll next season
01:23with Luis Castillo.
01:24So I don't know how much more they're going to do, but we will see.
01:27The White Sox certainly can go a little bit above where they are.
