00:11In a Facebook post shared by the Selangor Royal Office today, Tengku Permaisuri Nora Shikin said no form of animal
00:17cruelty would be tolerated regardless of who the perpetrator is or the position they hold.
00:23Her Royal Highness stressed that any individual, organization, company or government agency found responsible, including members or offices of local
00:32authorities, must be thoroughly investigated and prosecuted if they are found to have broken the law.
00:39Tengku Permaisuri Nora Shikin also urged the federal government to review the Animal Welfare Act 2015 to impose tougher penalties
00:47and ensure more consistent enforcement against animal cruelty offenders.
00:53The statement comes after the Klang City Council defended its officers over the death of a pet dog named Rocky
01:00during an enforcement operation in Port Klang.
01:03Police are investigating the case under Section 428 of the Penal Code which carries a penalty of up to three
01:10years' imprisonment, a fine or both upon conviction.
