00:11saying it is unlikely to spark the same public anger as the 1MDB scandal.
00:16He told FMT many of the RCI's findings were not new,
00:20as the issues had already been exposed after Barisan Nasional lost power in the 2018 general election.
00:27Qadir said the Pakatan Harapan government then restructured Tabung Haji
00:32by transferring its troubled assets and liabilities to a special-purpose vehicle.
00:37However, he claimed much of that effort was shelved after the Sheraton move in 2020,
00:43despite police reports being lodged against former Tabung Haji leaders.
00:47Qadir also expressed regret that former board members and senior management
00:52received only a slap on the wrist instead of facing major criminal charges.
00:57He warned the RCI would be another ruse if no legal action is taken against the culprits,
01:03adding that those responsible must be held accountable.
01:07He cited the 2005 Police Royal Commission as a cautionary example,
01:12noting that its proposal for an independent police complaints body was never fully implemented.
