00:00So, uh, so yeah, so going back to the, so why are we talking about this?
00:04Because any team that school blends up with, it is a rental and not every team and every
00:10GM and president and owner believes in that.
00:13But Arizona is one of those.
00:15They got a few years ago, if you remember JD Martinez and he led them in the postseason
00:20was a great move for them.
00:22Uh, and I, and I could see that happening.
00:24And then you look at some of the other teams, the Cubs certainly could use him.
00:27Um, the, you know, their, their pitching is, has been rough, but the Cubs have been guilty
00:32every year, Joe, of really not doing a lot at the deadline, not doing enough at the deadline.
00:36It doesn't seem like before Theo, Theo Epstein and Jed Hoyer.
00:40Now it seems like they kind of play with who they have at the trade deadline.
00:43So the Dodgers are always that really aggressive team.
00:45Arizona's one San Diego with Sandy.
00:48They're always aggressive, but would they do something like that?
00:51I, they don't, do they have enough guys to trade anymore for somebody like that?
00:54I don't think so.
00:55It's going to be fun.
00:56Uh, I, I personally, of course, I'm hoping that it's not LA.
01:00I would love for him to go to some team, Joe, that could go against the Dodgers in the American
01:05league, uh, Tampa Bay.
01:07Like, wouldn't that be a great spot for him?
01:09If he ended up there, maybe Texas, wouldn't that be a great spot?
01:13Maybe at least that gives them a shot too, but alas, the, uh, poly market and Cal, she
01:18tell us that it's going to be the Dodgers.
01:21Well, let me ask you a question.
01:22If you are Detroit, okay.
01:26Cause Detroit still has leverage in this deal.
01:29Yes.
01:29He's going to be a free agent, but Detroit gets to decide whether or not they're trading
01:33him.
01:33Right.
01:33I mean, they're the ones that get to decide what pack, what are you looking for?
01:38If you are Detroit for a Tariq Scooble rental, knowing, you know, he's gone next year anyway.
01:45So what's the, you know, what are you looking for exactly in return?
01:50You're probably going to end up getting the team's best prospect in their system.
01:54I think that's going to be it.
01:55At least the top one.
01:57Yeah.
01:57You're going to get their best prospect.
01:59I'm even, even though it is a rental, that's what's going to happen.
02:02So the Dodgers naturally have a few that they could offer, but, but a lot of the teams that
02:08are in it don't necessarily have the great prospect capital.
02:11Now, ironically, the reason why the Red Sox are getting talked about so much, Joe, is because
02:16they have two or three really high end prospects that it seems like they're dangling right now
02:21to get a little bit better.
02:23So maybe they are one and, you know, certainly Seattle, as we've heard, you know, just some
02:28rumors about Emerson Hancock, I mean, he may be on, on Seattle's, you know, in their
02:34rotation, their three or their four.
02:35I mean, he's a potential ace for another team if, if he ends up getting it turned around
02:39or, or, or becoming better too.
02:41So, uh, like, that's a good example, like him going to Detroit for Hancock.
02:46Like, I don't know if that's enough, but that's like the kind of thing that could potentially
02:50happen.
02:51And, but no, there's no team that would take him and prepare for next year.
02:54It would all be for the final two months of the season.
02:57It would all be for a rental push.
02:59Yeah.
02:59It would all be a rental for, you know, doesn't feel like a brave, like you said, they don't
03:06usually do that.
03:06They don't heart with young guys and young players in that farm system.
03:11They are Yankees.
03:12Don't have enough of them.
03:14Uh, we know that.
03:15So maybe Spencer Jones.
03:17I mean, I don't know.
03:18Yeah.
03:19Pitching is not their issue.
03:20And Jones is not good enough.
03:21I agree.
03:22Close to, to get, to get, uh, to get that.
03:25I, I, I'd have to, I, I, I'd have to scour it.
03:28I hope we're surprised on Monday, but I have a feeling we're not going to be, but it is
03:32the right move for Detroit.
03:34Uh, you know, we talked about that game yesterday.
03:36We were following it as we were doing the show here against Baltimore and Baltimore came
03:40all the way to back.
03:40It felt like the dagger.
03:41And I, and I know that Detroit is still on fan graphs, mathematically 30% in it because
03:47a run for any team puts them in it, but they're going to look back, Joe, if they don't make
03:53the playoffs and still play just 500 baseball, the rest of the season, that's not going to
03:56get them in.
03:57They're going to look back at the end of the year and they're going to get that GM is going
04:01to be in huge trouble, huge trouble in Detroit.
04:05If he doesn't make this trade and they end up losing, cause this is the same GM that gave
04:10Fran Brevaldez a lot of money too.
04:12Don't forget that.
04:12And now it looks like that was a disaster too.
04:14So like these, these signings and these, then these sitting on your hands kind of deals,
04:20it can really cost you.
04:21And, and for Detroit, I just think it's the right move.
