00:0920-year-old Khalil Isaiah Justin Johnson of Eldorado Road to Nupuna pleaded guilty in the District A Traffic Court
00:17to dishonestly obtaining U.S. $234.04 by using a MasterCard belonging to Robert Marshall to pay for accommodation at
00:28Worthing Court Apartments.
00:29Prosecutors told the court Johnson arrived in Barbados on July 17 and later went to the South Coast apartment complex
00:37where he identified himself as the person who had made the reservation.
00:42However, the legitimate cardholder discovered the unauthorized transaction through a hotel booking website and elated police.
00:50Officers responded to the property and arrested Johnson along with two friends.
00:55Investigators also examined Johnson's phone where they reportedly found messages between him and a man he identified as Patchy.
01:03In court, Johnson said he had booked his trip through someone in Trinidad claiming to be a travel agent.
01:09He said when no return ticket was available, the man sent him credit card details claiming the card belonged to
01:15his uncle
01:15and could be used to pay for two nights' accommodation until the travel arrangements were resolved.
01:21After Johnson agreed to repay the money, the complainant accepted compensation.
01:25The magistrate ordered him to pay $600 Barbados to the victim before reprimanding and discharging him for the offense.
01:34Addressing the young Trinidadian magistrate, Jared Richards warned that he had been particularly lucky
01:39and urged him to avoid putting himself in similar situations again.
01:44Johnson thanked the court and said the experience would never happen again.
01:49Moments later, immigration officials escorted him from the courtroom to begin arrangements for his departure from Barbados.
