00:00Okay here is the problem that we are dealing with. So these are our sliding glass doors, we live in
00:10a high-rise apartment here on the Gold Coast and these are floor to ceiling and we've got quite a
00:16few of them actually in the apartment.
00:17This one's not too bad but this one you can hear that one's rolling okay but this one is really
00:24really bad and we've got another one as well at the front of the unit too that we basically need
00:30to get fixed.
00:31So we've got a classic case of I guess roller door failure or something so what it is is you
00:38know like we've been noticing this for a few years actually but it's one of those jobs that you sort
00:42of put off and off and off but basically what it is is these work on little
00:47wheels so they've got little wheels down here and they run on this metal track here and over time grime,
00:56rust I mean you can see how grimy these are like look at that that is like really bad and
01:02in fact we're going to have to clean all this I think before they come to fix them but yeah
01:08basically over the years the little wheels just sort of really wear down and even I think they might even
01:15have ball bearings in them that then if
01:17they stop spinning or something and the wheel doesn't even turn properly and sort of just slides instead of rolling
01:23so I don't even know if the wheels are rolling anymore or if I'm just sort of pulling it along
01:29the track but if you don't attend to something like this as well the wheel can actually break too so
01:36then that becomes a thing then you can't move it at all.
01:39So I don't think our wheels are broken but they are definitely worn down a lot so basically we're going
01:46to get the wheels and possibly the track as well replaced I'm not sure if we'll get the track replaced
01:52but the guys will have a look at it when they come
01:54but this is the track here so we might get that replaced as well but we're going to get the
02:00wheels replaced the track replaced on this one and one at the back as well so yeah so that will
02:08be good but I think first off we are going to need to clean it because it is really grimy
02:14and the grime can really affect the wheels as well.
02:17So that is our latest home repair job okay it's the weekend and hubby has agreed to give these tracks
02:26a little bit of a clean they really are grotty dog hair dust grime so much grime and just before
02:35I did even see oh wow show us the cloth look at the cloth
02:41so I can't remember when the last time we cleaned these if ever so um obviously it probably does need
02:50grease for the doors to slide okay but I have to say um the grime has really gotten a bit
02:58out of hand so we have or we are giving it a bit of a clean for when the workman
03:03comes okay so today's the day
03:07so on the weekend hubby gave the windows a good clean we've been cleaning these tracks they continue to look
03:14a bit grubby though because of the rust like they are really rusted but we've gotten rid of the obvious
03:19gunk and the obvious dust and all that sort of stuff and dog hairs
03:22and so we will now be getting them repaired so that will be very exciting it'll be interesting actually to
03:30see how big a job it really is

09:26that door and you think that that's a whole that you know is a lot of pressure is basically on

09:31wheel and when I was looking up about getting these repaired it did say that even if the wheel
09:37looks okay the ball bearings inside could all be worn down so that's probably the case with ours
09:43but yeah that's just very interesting seeing that see that actual it looks like sort of a cassette
09:48or something that the wheels attached to so the whole thing sort of comes out and then they put
09:53that whole new new sort of cassette thing on it in there yeah so how does the track go on
09:59uh we'll
10:01put a sealer down because it's a steel that's how many so it won't actually touch otherwise it can
10:05corrode and then we'll probably root it down the ends and you know how well it sits because it's
10:11obviously can't be perfect to match every time yeah but it's pretty well so you don't want the
10:16metal sitting on the middle no oh how interesting i didn't know that yeah so we might yeah we might
10:56that would be hard to squeeze with that one hand like i've tried squeezing silicon and stuff before

18:24i mean you do live close to the ocean obviously so salt in there like saltiness is pretty bad for

18:30yeah we've put in nylon wheels so it should be less of a problem than before but you just want
18:34to keep
18:35it lubricated you know maybe every six months a year just get some w40 or something because that way
18:39keeps the moisture away as much as possible obviously how do we get the w40 in the wheel
18:47side they usually have um something like a little fendi hose and you can angle that upwards and it'll
18:54get up in the front sure thanks for that and yeah keep the dog hair out there and dust and
19:02grime and
19:03dust and grime uh there's not too much you can do about that i mean you can take out the
19:07doors and
19:07try and clean it but obviously these ones at least are pretty pretty heavy so what about getting you
19:13guys back to maintain the maintenance is that something you recommend we do do maintenance
19:17usually uh i mean these will last quite a long time so we probably won't be you know who knows
19:22what
19:22are we doing by then yeah but it should last let's say five to ten years these ones oh beautiful
19:27and
19:28maintenance wise it'd probably be replaced with the rollers again the trap should last quite a long
19:33time
19:33it is brand spanking new it is brand spanking new and i have our beautiful lawn
19:44book mat to put down here so that is just awesome thank you so much really nice job and yeah
