00:00Hey guys, it's Lucy Fink. You asked for it, so here it is. After six months of five-day challenges
00:05in my video series, Try Living with Lucy, what on earth have I continued to do?
00:11Just like many of you who have tried these challenges after me, I'm just experimenting here. I'm trying new things,
00:16testing the waters, seeing what I like and don't like, and trying to obtain healthy habits for my life.
00:22And while not every experiment I've tried has had lasting effects, some have really sparked a change in me. This
00:28is a Try Living with Lucy five-episode speed recap, starting with, number one, my first episode ever, five days
00:35without a cell phone.
00:38To be honest, I still use this thing. Definitely could not give my phone up forever. But what this episode
00:43did help me do is learn to put my phone in my backpack when I go on the subway.
00:47Plus, there's absolutely no service underground, so what is the point of constantly refreshing it for no reason at all?
00:53I've also met some great people on the subway, which I have this episode to thank for. And when it
00:58comes to cell phones, Nina G said it best.
01:01It's all fun and games until you get ten missed calls from your mom.
01:05Mom!
01:06Up next, five days of meditation.
01:09While I haven't kept up mantra meditation, mindfulness meditation is now something that I use on every subway ride to
01:15and from work.
01:16And what's even better, now I don't have my cell phone out, so I can do that.
01:19I've also kept up some of the friendships that I've made with people that I've met at meditation club.
01:24Hashtag, make new friends, but keep the old.
01:26And Hannah Worfley suggested, try using Headspace. It really helps, and it's free.
01:31Thanks for the tip, Hannah. I downloaded the app.
01:34Up next, five days with one jar of coconut oil.
01:39I haven't tried oil pulling since this episode. Truthfully, I found it really gross, and I read that it was
01:44a total myth,
01:45so I haven't done that anymore, but I do keep this jar of coconut oil in my desk at work,
01:49and I use it on my lips and my hands practically every day as a moisturizer.
01:53Also, bookish thoughts, you thought it was really cool that I could lick my elbow,
01:57so I'll do that for you again, right now.
02:03Up next, five days of waking up early.
02:09Guys, I think I made a mistake here. By picking five o'clock a.m., I think I convinced myself
02:14that it's impossible to wake up early. I probably should have picked something like seven, which
02:18is a little bit more manageable, but even still, this episode has ignited a positive change in me.
02:29I've started waking up 30 minutes earlier and hid in the gyms in the morning.
02:33Danger King wants to know who the filmed her when she woke up at five in the morning,
02:38and the answer is him, my cameraman, Andrew.
02:42Up next, five days of zero trash.
02:46I just love this episode so much, and I'm so in awe of the way Lauren Stinger lives her life.
02:51I have made some changes from this episode. I keep a huge glass jar on my desk, and I drink
02:56from it all
02:56the time, and I've also purchased some great new glassware from my new kitchen, and I'm planning to
03:01make my kitchen look just like hers. On the flip side, no waste grocery shopping has been very hard
03:06for me. Sometimes I find myself leaving for the grocery store, and I get there and I realize that I
03:10forgot my reusable bags. The same thing has happened to me at coffee shops a couple times. I'll get there
03:15and
03:15say, oh, I forgot my reusable cup. Even still, Lauren told me that going zero waste was not going to
03:20happen overnight. It's going to take a lot of time to learn these practices, and I'm so proud of myself
03:24for all I've learned so far, and I know I still have a little ways to go, but I'm working
03:29on it.
03:29Something I've gotten very into is recycling old clothing and replenishing them with new ones.
03:34I'm now totally obsessed with the Buffalo Exchange, and as Lauren Avent wrote, I'm going to start making
03:39some changes. You go, Glen Coco. And that's it for now. More fun episodes of Try Living with
03:45Lucy are coming out every other week, and more fun speed recaps are coming in the future.
03:50Comment below letting me know what you think I should try next, and keep commenting if you
03:54want to be featured in a future speed recap. See you then! Bye! Woohoo!
