00:00Hey guys, it's Lucy Fink, and this week I'm trying five days of street performing.
00:09Well, I'm the naked cowboy, and I'm hanging out with Lucy Fink.
00:14I'm the naked cowboy, and we don't care what you think.
00:18Don't forget your hat, sugar.
00:20We're leaving, yeah.
00:22Lucy Fink, folks, Lucy Fink.
00:24I live in New York City.
00:26The Big Apple.
00:27The city that never sleeps.
00:30And home to Broadway.
00:32When I was trying to think of what to do this week, I thought, I want to experiment a little.
00:36I maybe want to challenge myself to do something that I've never done before.
00:40And I couldn't help but notice that everywhere you turn in this city, somebody is performing.
00:45Whether they're singing, dancing, or painting their whole body like the Statue of Liberty
00:50and standing in Times Square like this, this city is full of performers.
00:55And so for the next five days, I'm going to try to be one of them.
00:59Starting right now on Monday, I'm going to Times Square.
01:03I don't have a plan, but that's okay, because it's just day one.
01:06Who knows what is about to happen?
01:08Welcome to Times Square.
01:12We got nothing.
01:16Thank you, New York City.
01:24Yesterday was a little bit unorganized.
01:27I was sort of just running around, standing up, speaking to the general public, doing cartwheels
01:33in Times Square.
01:34I realized that's not what people want.
01:36They want people who are talented and prepared.
01:38And even though I did make it onto the big screen, I don't think I succeeded at being a good
01:43street performer.
01:44So, today, I've prepared a song.
01:47On my own, pretending he's behind me.
01:52I chose my favorite Broadway show.
01:54I'm hoping that I come off to the general public as someone who has prepared a bit more,
01:59and someone who's really there to entertain.
02:01Fully in my mind.
02:04I had my cameraman stand kind of distant from me, so that it didn't look like we were filming
02:09a show or anything.
02:10I got some stares, I felt a little insecure.
02:13But only on my own.
02:19But I felt like the song was very fitting.
02:21I was really, really on my own, alone.
02:26Thank you, thank you.
02:28I'll be here all week, folks.
02:29The greatest city in the world, am I right?
02:32Am I right?
02:34My name is Lucy, and I will be performing for you and you.
02:38Oh, I gotta get down.
02:40I've been waved down.
02:41It's a new day.
02:43I'm going out again, hitting the streets very soon.
02:46And this time, I'm bringing with me a secret weapon.
02:50My older brother, Robbie, who is a singer and guitar player.
02:54He's in a band called East Love.
03:06I think having my brother with me today will make me feel a lot more confident, and I think
03:12then I'll be able to enjoy the experience a little more.
03:14Cause baby, if you're home, even all of this will go away.
03:30This whole experiment has been about stepping out of my comfort zone and trying something
03:34new, but singing is not new to me.
03:36I want to try something that I've never done before.
03:40I've put a whole bunch of ideas in this hat.
03:44Irish step dancing.
03:45Miming.
03:46Ahhh!
03:47I don't know how to do that.
03:57Free fortune telling.
03:59Lucy the fortune teller.
04:01I'm inexperienced.
04:03This is too good.
04:04You are going to have 14 children.
04:08Does her name start with an S?
04:10No.
04:11So close.
04:12I was so close.
04:13You are going to hit the lottery.
04:15Did it?
04:16You are getting the lottery.
04:17Next January.

04:26Like this one right here.
04:28I am officially a New York City street performer.
04:33Woo!
04:34Okay, I didn't have a permit, but I did it anyway.
04:37So what did I learn from this week that I can share with you guys, and how can you apply
04:41my learnings to your lives?
04:43We are just working all day.
04:45You know, we're on the daily grind or doing our thing, and we rarely get the chance to
04:50do something crazy.
04:52Grab a sign that says you're a fortune teller.
04:55Okay, don't do that.
04:56You might get arrested.
04:57You might.
04:58It's doing things like this that expand your horizon.
05:01And going to bed, I had a huge smile on my face.
05:05I want to challenge you to pick that one thing that makes you question yourself.
05:10That gives you butterflies.
05:12That really freaks you out.
05:14Do anything to break that mold of ordinary.
05:18Because as Avril Lavigne says, this is happening.
05:21I'd rather be anything but ordinary, please.
05:26I'd rather be anything but ordinary, please.
05:33Woo!
05:34My last street performance!
05:36I'm out, New York!
