If we ruled the world, our first decree would be to make daily braid wearing mandatory. And, we wouldn't expect any complaints — braids are just so darn versatile, we'd bet there's a variation out there perfectly suited for anyone and everyone.

Consider this braided part a case in point: What other style can transform the most unglamorous aspect of our hair into a totally cool, DKNY-approved 'do? Hairstylist Bethany Brill took assistant beauty editor Tara's hair from pretty to punky — and even the most conservative among us were feeling it. Take a look yourself, above.

00:07We're really excited about the idea of changing up our parts for spring.
00:11Today I'm going to teach Tara how to do a braided center part.
00:14We're going to start by sectioning off a strip of hair along the center of your head.
00:19Start from the front and go to the crown of the head.
00:21Clip off the remainder of the hair so it's easier to braid around.
00:30Starting at the very front of your hair, do an inside out French braid headed to the back
00:35of your head.
00:45Once you get to the crown of the head, add an elastic.
00:47You don't have to braid it all the way down.
00:52Unclip your other section and judge your hair.
00:55You can loosen the braid around the part if it's too tight.
01:02We love a braided accent and it's really cool that it can work on any length or type of hair.
