00:14dear john i'm writing to get your thoughts as a fellow sports parent my wife pulled me aside and
00:20said i'm doing too much as a fan at the games our son is 13 plays baseball and football and
00:25i go to
00:26every game and i get into it she says i'm embarrassing when i yell at the umps or refs
00:31but it's really only a comment or two and most of my shouting is about bad calls the rest of
00:36the time
00:37i'm cheering for the team and my son has never complained my wife said stay home if i can't act
00:43like an adult where's the line emotions play a huge part of this and trust me i've been around a
00:53lot of
00:53talked about it a lot of kids sports especially baseball where you know balls and strikes can be
00:58argued out safe all of these different things and i've i've been able to reel myself in so that i
01:08can
01:08actually sit behind the home plate and see balls and strikes because jack's pitching um and not make
01:15comments but if i know especially in a game where i think the umpire is not doing a great job
01:22and and the other parents that are on jack's team like we will line ourselves down one of the foul
01:28poles down the right field line left field line whatever you know side they're on and i can make
01:33my comments to myself there or commiserate with the other parents but i'm not going to shout them out
01:38i don't most of the umpires whether it's baseball football basketball like they they're not
01:46professionals yes they're being paid for a job but they're it this is what they do so that our kids
01:53can have these opportunities and unless it is a an extreme circumstance shut your trap cheer your kid
02:02on encourage your team encourage the team and don't do it in a backhanded way hey overcome the
02:08officiating like just shut up is this something you see a lot of at youth sports i'm not there yet
02:16obviously my kids are two and four but i know i will be one day and i've heard of stories
02:20but do you
02:20see this happening a lot oh yeah yeah um and it's like i i'm not going to say every game
02:27but
02:29more times than not yeah there are there are parents behind the backstop that will
02:34you know they'll make comments uh that was a terrible call or you know come on up all those
02:40things it's like come on man it's just we're talking about 14 year old kids here 15 year old
02:46kids and it gets even younger like eight year olds like just encourage your son or daughter
02:56encourage the team and sometimes there's going to be bad calls there's going to be bad calls in
03:02every game go into it with the expectation that it's going to happen not a lot is riding on that
03:08game yes wins and losses we all want to win shut up your kid's not mike trout you don't have

03:22this game but these parents some of them think it is oh i know it's a reality check for this

03:32and i think she owes me money i only went because she told me how bad she wanted to go
03:38she used me because only two days later she ended things we had been talking for a couple weeks and

03:44dropped four hundred dollars on the tickets so i thought it was fair to ask her to pay me back
03:49but she ghosted me you're a bum blocked my number when i tried to call she didn't even put out

03:54concert after the concert either my friends say i must have been off-putting and to just drop it

04:10she didn't come through on any of them it's it it's not on her all right just because you drop
04:16four hundred bucks on it on a ticket doesn't mean she's got to put out after you're not owed anything
04:21no and if it is this this is like a first date first of all a couple weeks it's probably

04:32couple of weeks it's you're still trying to figure out if i like this person what do i like about

04:38and maybe there was something that happened at the concert where she's like i just don't see myself
04:43with this individual you try and expose yourself to more situations and if you're finally like hey
04:50i tried it's not working out and then you come back a couple days later and say hey you know

04:56me back for the tickets you bought them dude you asked her out this guy's a loser yeah right she

05:01dodged a bullet on this one you don't go or let's say you get a nice gift for somebody hey

05:07you this nice i don't know pair of earrings you owe me four hundred dollars for those you don't you
05:12don't ask somebody to pay for the gift you're giving them or the date you take them on and you
05:17chose to do it right because she liked bruno mars you wanted to take her if there were red flags

05:23of that where you know maybe i think she's only leading me on because she wants to go to this
05:27concert then hey show some uh uh some ability to observe read the room yeah i'm also wondering if he
05:35did something at the concert or yeah maybe he drank too many beers or you know made a fool of
05:39himself yeah i don't know just wasn't her type at that point saw more of him and said not for

05:43he can't dance he just wants his treasure back
05:50really last question dear john grill upgrade i heard you guys talking about one of the producers
05:56on the station getting a new grill the update guy jeremy auto says and i was he just got a
06:02basic
06:02starter grill but i'm looking to make the upgrade from that spot i want to know your thoughts on the
06:07blackstone is it worth it my thought is smash burgers veggies would be easier and i open up a
06:13whole new set of options with breakfast oh yeah uh 100 worth it absolutely as long as you have
06:21the space for it you know that you've got and most people do right they don't take up a lot
06:26of space
06:27but are you going to have the the the grill there where you're going to still have you know whether
06:32it's you know gas charcoal doesn't matter and you add this to the repertoire absolutely because now
06:38you have the option of like you said hey you could grill steaks on your you know first grill and
06:45now
06:45you could be doing the veggies on that one you could be doing you could do multiple things more
06:49surface area means more good yummy food and there are so many things you can do everything that you
06:55want on a blackstone if you're replacing a grill i wouldn't necessarily advise to go just with the
07:02blackstone but it's a great complimentary piece and yes breakfast is awesome on the blackstone any meal
07:10why do you say don't just go with the blackstone what's the drawback um because well i like the the
07:15grill marks i like the char um on some different foods not necessarily on my burgers and so i do
07:23like
07:24burgers more on i mean i'm not going to turn away a burger on a grill but um i do
07:28like them more on
07:29the blackstone um fish i like more on the blackstone is a little bit easier to to grill them they
07:36don't
07:37have to worry about it falling through the holes anything that's yeah smaller or flaky is is generally
07:43better on the blackstone um it's just there's so much you can do this is a dumb question because i
07:48know nothing about grills is the blackstone like a whole nother grill or is it something you can put
07:53on top of your grill you can get like cast iron additions additions that you could just hey if i
08:00just want to put it on top of the grill grates that are you know just a a flat surface
08:06that's what the
08:06blackstone is a flat surface so yes you can do that but then you can't grill anything on the grill
08:12while
08:12you're using okay that so you think it's better to have the additional blackstone absolutely and then
08:18have your same grill okay yes and i mean i would don't stop there go with a smoker too like

08:24make it a complete uh festival of grilling smoking doing everything that you possibly can't cook outside
08:30as much as possible i mean it's it's have you ever cooked on a blackstone no i don't think i
08:36have but
08:37we have um it's not a blackstone but we have like our stovetop at home has one of those options

08:42yes yeah and i love it yeah so that's the word i was looking for you can get a cast
08:47iron griddle to
08:47put on top of your grill um i i think the blackstone is superior than just going with the griddle
08:55because the flame is right underneath the the blackstone instead of the separation that you have
