00:06And I thought that game, uh, yesterday with Walker Bueller on the mound for Padres, I
00:12thought he did a pretty good job.
00:14Uh, a lot of people were automatically fading them, uh, because of, uh, you know, Walker
00:19Bueller's troubles, uh, over the month of July, but he did good yesterday and the Braves,
00:25one of the better teams at home in the national league.
00:27And you know, this Greg, uh, Martin Perez, they're rolling off the IL.
00:32This is how bad to starting pitching, uh, has gotten for the brain.
00:35Like they're praying for guys to come off the IL just so they can throw them in a spot like
00:40this.
00:40Michael King better at Petco than on the road.
00:44The Braves have averaged, I think five runs a game at home, nine of the last 10, they've
00:50scored at least five or more runs.
00:53I don't know.
00:54Is King the guy, it feels like a bounce back for the Braves.

01:00And again, what are you going to get from Perez?
01:02And you mentioned how good the Padres, some of these hitters, Machado and Ortiz, you know,
01:07are the bats finally starting to get it for the Padres here?
01:11Well, last night they came alive.
01:13Machado homer twice and Tatis hit a 470 foot home run.
01:17Now, I don't know if that means anything for the future.
01:19They've been waiting for that all season long.
01:21Machado has been able to hit home runs.
01:23He just hasn't been able to hit his weight.
01:24Basically this season, he's batting, I think, under 180 or he has been for the majority
01:28of the season.
01:30I still don't like the Padres, but if you buy the bat, stay hot, then maybe an over tonight
01:36between these two teams, Atlanta and San Diego.
01:38Maybe that's a direction potentially to go for Atlanta.
01:41You know, what's interesting is that in that market, some of the scuttle is, and it's
01:46not the team scuttle, but it's some of the like social media scuttle is that would the
01:49Braves bring back Strider as a bullpen guy?
01:52Would the Braves bring him back as a guy that comes in two, three days a week and pitches
01:57a couple of innings as opposed to going five, six, seven innings in a game, which is kind
02:02of crazy when you think about it.
02:03Strider, you know, two years ago, you could make the case he was one of, if not the best,
02:08very best pitcher in the National League too.
02:09And then of course the injury last year, we didn't see him, but yeah, I, I'm not really
02:15worried about them because the Braves are in it to win it.
02:18I know that this time next week or, or soon after they're going to end up having three
02:22new players on their team.
02:23Joe, I can put, take that to the bank.
02:25There's going to have a new guy in the rotation.
02:27Ronald Acuna is going to be back, you know, and they're going to get right.
02:30But me, look, they're a little vulnerable right now.
02:33I think your assessment is right.
02:34It's fair to say, I just have to see the Padres a little bit more consistent.
02:39In order to back them.
02:41So I don't know that I would, but maybe playing it over tonight and banking on Manny and Tatis
02:46staying hot.
02:47Because certainly if those guys start hitting, like we know they have, remember Tatis didn't
02:51even hit a home run in April.
02:52So if those guys start hitting the way that we know they have, it could get San Diego back
02:57in the mix.
02:58But I'm not necessarily buying that at this point, but in a one game scenario tonight,

03:02Maybe some runs in store.

03:04I mean, listen, Perez, last time we saw him was against the Mets before he hit the IL there.
03:11Four earned runs in that one.
03:14And yeah, he did pitch against the Padres, I believe, back in June, June 24th.
03:20Uh, and he didn't, four innings, three earned, uh, walks for, which is kind of what you expect
03:27with, you know, Martin Perez at this particular point, left-handed hitting, uh, left-handed
03:31pitching has given the Padres some fits here this season, but you got Xander Bogarts hitting

03:38You know, that's how bad it has gotten.

03:43That guy in particular, it's a great question.

03:46200 million, I think for him, Joe.
03:48And it's like the second he signed the contract, he just, and he was really good in Boston.
03:53It's not like he was an average player.
03:54He was well above average, but look, the Padres gave out hundreds of millions of dollars,
04:01Joe, to a lot of guys.
04:03And I kind of feel like when you look back now, Joe, does it feel a little bit like the
04:07owner who, you know, Peter Seidler passed away?
04:09Does it kind of feel like he was doing that knowing maybe what was coming to say, Hey,
04:14let me, let me take my last gasp at this.
04:16And unfortunately, uh, you know, he left the bill for a lot of folks that are going to
04:21have to pay that off Padres being sold.
04:24Um, you know, so, uh, guys like Bogarts Machado making 250 million Tatis making a lot
04:30of money.
04:31You Darvish, I think is getting, uh, I think he got a hundred or 150.
04:35I don't, I think Darvish gave away his money this year, if I'm not mistaken.
04:37I think he said, I believe he was done and he may come back in the future.
04:42So they, they have some key decisions to make here.
04:44They have some really big decisions to make the sense I get knowing the way the Padres
04:48play Joe this time next week, they're at least a hold.
04:51I don't know that they're a seller.
04:53Like what does it really make sense for them to be, you know, three games out of the wild
04:57card and giving up with Tatis and Machado and Mason Miller and some of these other players
05:01doesn't make sense to me.
05:01So I would guess Padres just kind of stand pat.
05:04So I would guess that.
