00:00The Padres play the Diamondbacks this week.
00:02Both teams right now are sitting either in the wildcard spot
00:06or on the verge of the wildcard spot in the National League.
00:09And the funny thing is, looking at these pitching matchups, Tom,
00:11is I have a feeling like a lot is going to change
00:13before we see this series play out next week.
00:17I mean, San Diego basically is going with openers and bulk guys almost every day.
00:21I don't know how the Padres got to this point, but that's what they're doing.
00:24So one of these four games here, you're going to see Sears pitch.
00:27That's what they do.
00:28He pitches bulk. Could be in the back of Marquez or Vasquez.
00:32Bueller's not even that great anymore.
00:34So Padres have to figure out how they're going to even get through the season,
00:38let alone the postseason.
00:39And for Arizona, look what they're doing.
00:41They're starting Brad and Drake.
00:43I mean, you would think that that will change for Arizona as well
00:46with some of the injuries that they have had.
00:48But look, this could be a series where one team takes the clear advantage
00:53in the wildcard standings after the other.
00:54But most likely what happens is a split or one team wins three out of four
00:58as they sort of battle it out this week.
01:01Yeah, really, really interesting spot for the Diamondbacks
01:04because they have a series versus the Padres.
01:06They also have a series versus the Dodgers after that.
01:09So they need some help.
01:11We talked about, you know, the Diamondbacks kind of beating down the Guardians
01:15over the weekend.
01:16You know, Brad and Drake started some of those games.
01:18And these are pitchers that do not have a whole lot of MLB experience.
01:21And, you know, again, there are reports out there that Diamondbacks are looking
01:24for another starting pitching.
01:26So some of these could change, you know, depending on if the trade happens,
01:29when that player actually gets there and is available.
01:31But I see the Diamondbacks as having the advantage in this series.
01:34And I would be looking at some lower scoring games.
01:37I think hopefully this plays out as a postseason type series.
01:39That's what I want to see just because of the intensity of what the teams need.
01:42But it's going to be a fun one.
