00:00Kampar MP Chong Zemin has dismissed past youth's call for Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim
00:06to resign over KWAP's failed investment in e-fishery.
00:11The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission launched an investigation into KWAP's
00:16RM163.4 million loss after the Indonesian company was found to have manipulated its financial statements.
00:25Chong urged past youth chief Afnan Hamimi Taib Azamuddin not to turn the corporate fraud case
00:32into a political gimmick. He said the loss was serious and must be fully investigated,
00:37but demanding Anwar's resignation without evidence of political interference,
00:42corruption or personal misconduct was irresponsible.
00:46Chong said Afnan should submit evidence to MACC if he could prove that Anwar directed the investment,
00:52interfered in due diligence, received any benefit or obstructed the investigation.
00:58He said several global investors including Tamasek and SoftBank had also invested in e-fishery,
01:04showing that experienced institutions were also misled.
01:08Chong said the priority should be to establish the facts, recover as much of the investment as
01:14possible, strengthen KWAP safeguards and prosecute those responsible.
