00:01Bought 2-1 pre-season win against a young Wiccan Wanderers side, thoughts on tonight?
00:06It was a good workout, lively, got some good players in their ranks and I think we might see a
00:11few in the league this year out on loan, getting some valuable minutes but it was a good workout for
00:17us.
00:17You're obviously a professional set up there isn't it and they have plenty of ability and a good test for
00:22you, you want different tests in pre-season don't you?
00:23Yeah it was a different test, obviously the pace of the game upped, how lively they were and I thought
00:29we adapted ourselves well, we had our three games at the start and then this week it's building up and
00:34getting the momentum going and I think the boys responded really well.
00:38Yeah really positive performance wasn't it, strong team and you deserved the result really tonight didn't you overall on the
00:45game I thought?
00:46Overall yeah I think when you compare the two teams up to like 60 minutes, 65 minutes, I don't think
00:53they really created anything of chance throughout the 60 minutes and we looked pretty good with the ball, we switched
01:00it well, worked it well and fully deserved the lead.
01:03Both goals were quite well worked actually weren't they, sort of good bits of play leading up to it, the
01:07first one trade to Daz and he chops on and finish there?
01:10Yeah we were working well you know with the switch and then we come across the pitch and with the
01:15overload with Daz and yeah he worked it well just shifted and a good finish and then yeah the second
01:20one again I worked it well down the right hand side and it failed nicely for Owen to smash home.
01:24Yeah it was really, the second one really nice sort of link up with Jack and Owen to start on
01:28the right and then the shot, Bob's shot and Owen finished you know it's a real nice build up to
01:32it wasn't it?
01:33Yeah you know these are the partnerships that they've had for a long time and yeah they've started to hit
01:38the ground again now with them and yeah hopefully we just get better now.
01:421-0 at half time, what was the message going into the second half?
01:44Yeah you know we were going to change it after 10-15 minutes, just you know good habits, pick up
01:50what they do with the ball and how we can work it off the ball and how we can get
01:54our dangerous players on the ball when we win it back and I think they took it all on board
01:58and it was a good hours workout for most boys.
02:00Yeah obviously the five subs on the hour all pre-planned as you're sort of building things up wasn't it
02:04so yeah sort of all sort of going well on that sort of front building people up isn't it so
02:09yeah.
02:09Yeah yeah it's going well you know another tough test Saturday where we look to do the same and then
02:14we rotate it again on Tuesday Rioville but yeah we've got five or six that are adapting to our shape
02:20and the way we play and yeah they're slowly getting there and a couple more games and you know I
02:25hope to see fast improvement with them as well.
02:27Erian had to come off, was that just a knock you took?
02:30Yeah not 100% sure, he made a great run burst through and just landed and yeah felt he couldn't
02:37put too much weight on his, felt it up his shin and his ankle, hopefully it's just an impact of
02:42the ground, nothing but serious I did.
02:45Obviously announced earlier this evening the signing Trinson, you said obviously with Keane's injury and obviously we've got the bad
02:51news on that now that you know you would strengthen there and obviously that's real sort of experience and quality.
02:56to bring into the group there isn't it with Sam.
02:59Yeah it's a perfect signing, yeah it's been in the pipeline for a week or so obviously with Keane's getting
03:06injured but he can cover a number of positions but yeah when you step up into this league and you
03:11get into November, December time and you're away down in Weston or somewhere and that experience is going to be
03:17invaluable for us and he's going to be a massive signing and can't wait to start working with him.
03:21In more than 300 appearances, sort of been there, done it and it's a real sort of leadership and sort
03:25of experience to add really there isn't it so yeah.
03:28Yeah just chatting to him when you know looking to get him in, his enthusiasm for the game and he
03:33just loves football and just wants to play football and for him to choose to come here is a massive
03:38coup for us and hopefully we can enjoy him and we can see the best of Sam.
03:43And he's already been around the group a bit Sam already in pre-season so he's already sort of been
03:48around a little bit with some of the boys.
03:49Yeah well he'd come down and met us last week at training and then he'd come to the game on
03:55Saturday and just had to finalise things and we was thinking of maybe getting him in today but the contract
04:01all went through today so just didn't want to risk anything and he hasn't done a great deal.
04:04So he'll train with us on Thursday and look to get 45 lots down on Saturday.
04:10And obviously Keane was expected, obviously tough for him but obviously the club will rally around and obviously help him
04:16on his road back and his recovery won't they?
04:18Yeah it's going to be a tough time for him you know everyone's with him on it he won't be
04:24left out in the dark he'll be still part of this group he'll travel with us when he can and
04:28where he can get involved and do bits around the club to feel part of it and yeah once he
04:33gets his date for his op and he can really focus on his rehab I'm sure he'll bounce back just
04:39as John.
04:40And obviously just building up now in the pre-season and more good tests to come we've watched all Saturday
04:44and then obviously over here on Tuesday.
04:45Yeah three good games coming up that get us going and ready for Tottenham on the opening day.
