A worldwide caution has been issued by the United States due to what it called "heightened tensions in the Middle East."

However, the U.S. Embassy in this country is assuring it remains open to provide its services to the public.

00:05to the public would be impacted by the worldwide caution issued by the U.S. State Department due to heightened
00:11tensions in the Middle East.
00:13In a late-night advisory, the State Department said, quote, U.S. diplomatic facilities, including outside the Middle East, have
00:21been targeted. Iran and groups supportive of Iran may target other U.S. interests overseas or at locations associated with
00:30the United States and Americans throughout the world, end quote.
00:34However, no specifics were provided by the State Department. A U.S. Embassy spokesperson told TV6 News, quote, U.S.
00:42Embassy, Port of Spain, remains open for routine operations, counselor appointments and emergency services for American citizens.
00:50We encourage all U.S. travelers and residents to register in the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program, step.state.gov, to
01:00receive direct local security updates, end quote.
01:03The State Department said Americans currently in the Middle East should exercise caution and heighten the vigilance and should be
01:10prepared for possible flight cancellations, periodic airspace closures and potential travel disruptions.
