00:00A miniature version of Newcastle has taken over Old Eldon Square this summer, but Tiny Toon is just one part
00:05of a wider program of family activities in the city's centre.
00:09Alongside the Play Village, visitors can also enjoy outdoor games and entertainment as the square becomes a summer destination for
00:15families.
00:16It's going to be open for the whole of the six weeks holidays all the way up until the 31st
00:21of August.
00:22It's going to be open at least 10 till 5 every day.
00:24It's completely free, you don't need to book, just come over to Old Eldon Square, queue up and head in
00:30and have loads of fun.
00:31There's loads of fun different units to try out like Eldon Square, we've got Tyneside Cinema, the Mini Metro, we've
00:36got all sorts.
00:37It's a perfect place for kids to let their imaginations run wild and just enjoy the summer.
00:41So it's really important for the families of Newcastle to have a space like this where it's completely free, it's
00:46full of activity.
00:47You can come back day after day and enjoy a completely different day out, so you're never at a loose
00:51end of what to do during the summer holidays.
00:53It's always something to do in Newcastle City Centre.
00:56And then also for the businesses, it's really important because, you know, people come in, we generated over 110,000
01:02people in the area last year, which is a massive impact.
01:05And that meant that people went out and spent in the city.
01:07So we had a £2.3 million impact last year, which was incredible for the businesses around.
01:12And it just means that people are engaging with the businesses, which is exactly what we want.
01:16It's just a really safe space where children can let their imaginations run wild, make memories.
01:22There's plenty of lovely little photo opportunities over here where you can kind of just make memories for life with
01:28your family.
01:29It's really nice.
01:30Anyone's Tiny Toon features scaled down versions of familiar Newcastle landmarks, venues and businesses, including returning favourites, such as the
01:37Time Bridge, Tyneside and Weir Metro and Mini Album Square Shopping Centre.
01:41This year's additions include miniature versions of Newcastle Building Society, Tyneside Cinema, Darkwalla and Pink Lane Bakery.
01:49Some young visitors to the area certainly seem to be enjoying themselves.
01:53I really like the Pink Lane Bakery and I like the Metro.
01:58Why do you like them so much?
02:00Because the Pink Lane Bakery, I like how the bus is actually squishy and the croissant.
02:08So do you think they've really sort of paid attention to what it should look like?
02:11Yeah.
02:12The Play Village is running alongside two other NE1 attractions at Old Elton Square.
02:17So we're in Stay and Play in association with Stagecoach right now in Old Elton Square.
02:21And it's going to be open for the six weeks of our holidays all the way up until Monday the
02:2531st of August.
02:26It's a really fun urban play area where kids can kind of let off a bit of steam, explore the
02:31shapes, explore the spaces.
02:32We've got some sensory walls, we've got sand pits, we've got loads of stuff going on.
02:37So you can start your day off at Stay and Play and then head over to Screen on the Green,
02:42watch a film at 12 o'clock, have some lunch, have a little picnic and then head straight on over
02:47to Tiny Toon afterwards.
02:48So you can spend the whole day here and have completely different experiences in each one, which is really fun.
