00:05with large numbers of visitors across the first weekend. Among the main attractions is a new
00:10£3 million ride Elevate 85 which stands 85 metres tall and is being billed as the world's tallest
00:16travelling attraction drawing significant attention on site. I've been out and about
00:20and asking people for their memories of the Hoppings favourite rides, maybe least favourite
00:24rides for those of us who are not so keen on the thrills. You know as a little kid you
00:31want to go
00:31on all the rides you want to play all the games the usual and exciting fun but as you get
00:38older
00:39you grew out of it and I suppose I look at it in a different way now not the way
00:45I did as a child.
00:48I've been on the ones that throw you upside down the ones that really spin you actually some of the
00:53smaller ones that really spin you upside down sideways pull quite a lot of G's that's the
01:00ones you really want. It was it was very expensive however the rides were sort of doubled the length
01:08in time that way you get an average theme park so I think it was worth the money but I
01:14did have vouchers
01:15to get like 50 pence a pound off the bigger rides or you're looking at about 10 pounds per person
01:23and
01:23that's that's quite a lot. The annual fair returned to the town more in Newcastle with around 400
01:30attractions ranging from traditional rides to newer high thrill installations and family areas. A major
01:37focus this year is Elevate 85 a star flyer style ride operated by Crow Events and standing 85 metres high.
01:44It was manufactured and assembled across several European countries before its debut run in Berlin.
01:50Organisers say the attraction is designed to offer wide views across the fairground
01:54and the wider city and it forms part of continued investment in new headline rides for the event.
01:59The wider site includes food areas live music and family entertainment with the fair continuing its
02:05multi-day run on the town more.
02:10One of those things is it you know you get everybody from across the whole city you get a slice
02:16of all life
02:17of Newcastle which is nice you know it's kind of good you get to you know it appeals to the
02:24whole city
02:24it's not it's quite weirdly inclusive isn't it.
02:29I associate the hoppings with the rain. Whenever the hoppings come along rain comes but I was here
02:36there's going to be a bit of a heat wave coming so you never know it might be different times.
02:42The hoppings remains open on Newcastle's town more as part of its traditional 10-day run with organizers
02:48highlighting a mix of new and returning attractions. The event continues to draw families and visitors
02:53from across the region with activity centered around the main fairground site and its headline rides.
