00:00Whether it's a long-standing favourite or somewhere you've always wanted to try,
00:04Anyone Newcastle Restaurant Week is back, bringing fixed-price menus to restaurants across the city.
00:09So Anyone's Newcastle Restaurant Week is back. It starts on the 3rd of August,
00:13running up all the way until the 9th of August. And this year it's our biggest ever,
00:18which is really exciting. We can't wait for people to enjoy it. We have over 130 venues this year,
00:24so there is a huge amount for people to pick from. So whether you fancy an Indian,
00:28whether you want some Vietnamese food, Thai food, we've got it covered. There's something for
00:33everyone. So we're really excited for people to go through the menus this year and pick out not just
00:37one place, maybe seven. This is particularly a time where hospitality has been struggling.
00:45You know, it's not just common knowledge. They've really voiced it to us and pressed us and said,
00:49you know, we need the support. So I think it's really important now more than ever for us to
00:53continue to produce events that are effective and benefit the city and particularly those hospitality
00:59venues, you know, with rateable values rising across the board and impacting a huge amount
01:05of businesses. It's really important for us to figure out how we can help support that. It's changed
01:10what was two of the quietest weeks in the year across the city to two of the busiest weeks for
01:15hospitality. So it's been really transformational for the city in the last few years. Participating
01:20venues will offer selected menus at set prices with cuisines ranging from local favourites to
01:26international dining. Last August we had 59,000 people enjoy just August restaurant week alone
01:31and it had a £1.1 million impact and over the last year it's had over £2 million impact.
01:38So it's a really important part of the city's economy and also that doesn't include the spend,
01:44you know, popping out for a drink, a glass of wine with your meal, getting a bus ticket,
01:49things like that. It all really adds up and it creates like a really impactful event.
01:53And, you know, you don't want to be one of the people who miss out, you know, there's 60,000
01:57people could be attending this year and you don't want to be the one person who didn't get to enjoy
02:01one of those fantastic offers. And if you're not sure if you're going to like the food, it's a perfect
02:05opportunity to test somewhere. And to be honest with you, I don't think we've ever had feedback where
02:10somebody said you're not going back. A lot of the time people come back, they find a new favourite,
02:16and they become repeat customers for life. So this year we are working with the event in partnership
02:21with Tiny Way and Metro, which is really exciting. It means that we can kind of grow the event further
02:26and work with them on a lot of things. So we'll be running competitions with Metro. We'll also be
02:31working on the first ever edition of the Anyone's Restaurant Week magazine, which is really exciting.
02:36So we'll be giving tips and tricks and guides on how to best enjoy restaurant week, what else you can
02:42do surrounding it and also kind of get some little insider info from chefs and local influencers
02:48and things like that. So it's been really exciting to work with Tiny Way and Metro getting on the event.
02:52This year's event has participating restaurants encouraging customers
02:55to book in advance as demand is expected to be high.
