02:24Well, the celebrations really got going after their victory yesterday
02:28as fans erupted into pandemonium back in Madrid.
02:31And the Spanish players also walked away with a lion's share of individual awards as well.
02:41Well, Spain's previous World Cup triumph came in 2010 in what was a similar victory.
02:47Spain won that final against the Netherlands in South Africa
02:50with a single goal scored in the second period of extra time.
02:56Well, that is it. Spain have won the World Cup.
02:59And the fans here have gone absolutely wild.
03:02They are going to be celebrating all night.
03:07The last time Spain won the World Cup champions was in 2010.
03:12These supporters are not going to forget about it.
03:15We have to be here. We have to be here.
03:17The whole ambience is fiesta, fiesta, fiesta.
03:20I'm feeling so excited. I'm feeling so happy.
03:22This is such an incredible moment for Spain right now.
03:25I'm so proud of all our players.
03:27Just spoke to one supporter who said that this party is going to last for the next four years
03:32until the next World Cup.
03:33Captain Rodri here holding a trophy.
03:36He was awarded the golden ball for the tournament's best player.
03:39And Barcelona's 19-year-old defender, Pau Kubarsi, was named best young player.
03:44Spain conceded just once the entire tournament,
03:47celebrating the World and European championships once again.
03:54Hey, thank you very much, Natasha, for that.
03:56And it was a contrasting mood back in Buenos Aires,
03:59as Argentine fans were not just disappointed, but some chose violence.
04:05Instead, they watched Spain and their countries reign as world champions.
04:09In their seventh World Cup final, this was a fourth defeat for Argentina.
04:20Well, sadness quickly turned to anger in Buenos Aires as fans clashed with police.
04:25Supporters threw stones and bottles at police.
04:28Despite the violence, the Argentina president declared a public holiday in the country to honor the runners-up.
04:34And despite only attending one match, U.S. President Donald Trump was very involved in the tournament,
04:40and he labeled the World Cup a success.
04:43It was the first match he'd attended throughout the entire tournament.
04:47Trump was accompanied by FIFA president Gianni Infantino and labeled the tournament a success.
04:52This was one of the greatest events of any kind ever held.
04:56So, we're really happy that it did so well.
05:00And all over the world, people have come, and they've loved our country.
05:04You know, it's shown off our country in a different light.
05:08And it was a great thing.
05:10It was a great event, and I'm glad you all enjoyed it.
05:13Well, it's time to hear from the fans.
05:15And for one last time, we head to our World of Football segment.
05:26This is the World Cup final.
05:28Spain, deservedly beaten Argentina by Juan Gautendale.
05:32Spain had all the chances.
05:33They dominated.
05:34They finally scored in Aritan Ferran Torres.
05:38Kareem, congratulations.
05:40How do you feel?
05:41I feel real good.
05:43I feel real good because they are one of the best teams in the competition.
05:47We can't see the football all the games.
05:51So, that shows the potential, the hard work and the education you guys have.
05:56How do you feel about all the support here?
05:59A lot of people want support in Spain playing.
06:01Yeah, yeah.
06:02And the United States play any football at all.
06:06Pedestrian, pedestrian.
06:07Yeah.
06:07In the end, there was a goal level ruled out for offside, for injuries or something.
06:13Then go to Val, Barcelona, it was all gold.
06:15But I think the best team won, and you did.
06:17Yes, I see, man.
06:18So, you have been supported in Spain for a long time?
06:21Yes.
06:21How are you going to celebrate?
06:23I am going to go to tomorrow, but I like it right now.
06:27I like it right now.
06:27I like it right now.
06:28And I tell what time?
06:29And then I'm still going down there alone?
06:30Yes.
06:30The same in your time?
06:32Yes, yes.
06:32What are you going to tell all the people who though?
06:34Spain at the beginning of the tournament?
06:36Really.
06:37I am doing it.
06:37I am doing it.
06:38I am doing it.
06:39I am doing it.
06:40Over, over.
06:41I am doing it.
06:42I am doing it.
06:43I am doing it.
06:44I am doing it.
06:45I am doing it.
06:46Thank you very much, Karine. Thank you, Amplio. Congratulations to Spain, deserving winner of the World 2026 World Cup Final.
06:53Thank you, sir.
07:00Now, thousands of fans were tuned in locally to the World Cup Final.
07:04Former national player Ron LaForest had his eyes glued to the screens.
07:08He was impressed by the performance of the title holders, Spain, and believes there is no other team that can
07:14rival them at this current moment.
07:16Former national player Ron LaForest loves football, and watching Spain play the way they did in the final against Argentina
07:24made him remember why this sport has his attention.
07:27It's pointless asking him if Spain is deserving of the World Cup title.
07:31Spain is a different class to all the rest of football nations, meaning that what Spain has given us here
07:40is what we like as Caribbean and West Indian people.
07:43What Spain has given us here is everybody competitive in the ball, everybody has a part of the play, everybody
07:47doing their job holistically, and things will happen.
07:50This is what Spain showed us.
07:51So what was Argentina's plan?
07:53Argentina was solely relying on Messi, you know, and Messi is 39 years, how long could he carry you for?
08:03You follow me?
08:04I shocked to see, well, you know he just walk and play and stuff like that, but I shocked to
08:07see Messi play all the games.
08:09You follow me?
08:11And here it was, when Argentina get out of the red card, I tell my wife, I say, Argentina playing
08:21with nine men now.
08:21No, meaning that Messi, you don't come Messi, you know, as a player will be working to win the ball
08:29for you and stuff like that, you know, this kind of way.
08:31So that was the advantage Spain had on them also.
08:34He believes Argentina was playing for penalties, relying on the greatness of goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez.
08:40Still though, the match never went there, and he felt Spain could have utilized their star weapon better, Lamine Yamal,
08:46who he believes is the biggest attraction coming out of the World Cup.
08:50That's easy to see.
08:52And I still find yesterday, he was already game too much.
08:55I still find yesterday, all right, the providers for him, he had taken too long to give him the football.
09:01Because he's so deadly.
09:03When we pick up the ball, there's two and three Argentinians coming at him.
09:05So why not?
09:06Why not present it to him?
09:08So take them out.
09:09You follow me?
09:10When you take them out because you're not Messi and you're not much in defense.
09:12You follow me?
09:13You have to leave ways to get in the enemy territory as easy as possible.
09:19And what about Messi?
09:21Is he the greatest ever?
09:23No, no, no.
09:24I am.
09:25My generation, I saw Pili.
09:29All right?
09:29And as I told you yesterday, I had the pleasure of meeting Pili.
09:32Pili was the, it was the, he was the founder of the game.
09:37He explained the difference between Pili and Messi.
09:40It was different.
09:42Pili, Pili team around him, again too, Brazilians, everybody's skillful.
09:49Everybody knows their role and function.
09:52Pili generation.
09:53So Pili bring to them the style, his skill and the flair, he brought that into the Brazilian game.
10:00And that's why we fall in love with him, we as Caribbean people.
10:03But with Messi now, it's a different.
10:07Messi, Messi's great.
10:10Messi, Messi players will work for him.
10:13But it was a difference between his time and Pili times.
10:16And on a lighter note, we asked the former TNT forward what position he would play if he was slotted
10:22into the Spanish team.
10:23Me as Van Lafery, the Spanish team, I played number nine.
10:29But my number is number ten.
10:32You follow me?
10:33But I always sent him forward.
10:35You follow me?
10:36I always like finishing touches in the game.
10:39Sergio Dufour, TV6 Sport.
10:41Always wonderful to hear the local experience.
10:43We take a final look at what's happening off the field as the curtains come down on the tournament.
10:49We check out the six qualifiers to the 2030 tournament.
10:52Trump photobombs the champions.
10:54And European Council condemns FIFA.
10:56But Infantino is not going anywhere just yet.
11:07The World Cup is over.
11:09But we already know that six nations have qualified for the 2030 tournament.
11:13World Cup winners Spain are one of the hosts for the next tournament.
11:16Along with Iberian neighbours Portugal and their nearest neighbours in Africa, Morocco.
11:22However, three South American nations will be unique hosts for the same tournament.
11:26As FIFA will celebrate the centenary of the tournament where it all started in Uruguay.
11:31The first three matches of the tournament will take place in Uruguay, Argentina and Paraguay.
11:36As promised, U.S. President Donald Trump was part of the trophy presentation for the World Cup final.
11:41But it seemed Trump was enjoying the moment just a bit too much.
11:45As Spain's players tried to get the president out of their celebration shot.
11:49However, just like he did for the club World Cup final, Trump remained on the podium.
11:54Meanwhile, the Council of Europe, which includes 46 nations, believes money and power are a crisis for FIFA and the
12:01World Cup.
12:01It has questioned the integrity of the World Cup and urged FIFA to build a stronger framework for the 2030
12:08edition.
12:08The council highlighted the overturning of the suspension for American striker Florian Balagun
12:13after pressure from U.S. President Donald Trump.
12:16And while FIFA and President Infantino have come under heavy criticism for decisions made leading up to and during the
12:23World Cup,
12:24it seems Infantino is set to win a fourth term as president.
12:28More than 200 of FIFA's 211 member associations have already endorsed the Swiss to remain as president.
12:35A few European nations, including Germany, are holding out.
12:39But Infantino is the only candidate leading up to the vote next match.
12:51While the Italians were forced to watch at home on their televisions,
12:55the four-time World Cup champions are hoping that will be the last time,
12:59as they are looking to snag a big fish as manager.
13:02They have set their sights on former Barcelona and Manchester City's Pep Guardiola.
13:07Italian legend Paolo Maldini, now calling the shots, has met with Guardiola to discuss him leading the Azuri.
13:14Former Italian manager Roberto Mancini and legend Andrea Perlo are also candidates for the job.
13:21Should Guardiola accept the job, he will be the latest high-profile manager,
13:25along with Jurgen Klopp and German Carlo Ancelotti with Brazil and Zinedine Zidane with France.
13:33And just like that, after almost six weeks and 104 matches, the World Cup has come and gone.
13:39When the dust settled, it was Spain who proved to be the best, not only in Europe, but the world.
13:45It was a memorable and eventful tournament, as we relive some of the magical moments
13:50and say farewell to the 2026 World Cup.
13:56The day has finally arrived, opening day of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
14:05The superstars are here to play, 39 days of drama, shocks, joy and heartbreak.
14:13Raise our anthem and sing.
14:28And there's our big goal for the Mexicans, big goal.
14:32Larry with a shot.
14:34Oh, Canada.
14:35Flop out again.
14:37It's the United States of the world.
14:39Can you believe this?
14:40They're going to the World Cup for the very first time.
14:44This will be remembered.
14:45What a moment of a reminder.
14:48In the band.
14:50Messi's the World Cup's all-time leading scorer.
14:55What a strong ever-know-win scorer.
14:57The world is.
14:58We're at the business end of this tournament.
15:01You win or you fall.
15:04Tillman attacks.
15:05You win.
15:06When his country needed it most.
15:08And just like that, the curse is broken.
15:12Lina to Ronaldo.
15:14Paraguay.
15:15They beat in Germany.
15:17It's remarkable.
15:19It's almost unbelievable.
15:21Argentina survive.
15:23Cape Verde, on behalf of the world, thank you.
15:27Those pictures tell the story of all the emotions.
15:30Luka Modric, farewell to the greatest show on earth.
15:34Let out our battle prize.
15:38We will never be found.
15:40Oh, wow.
15:40That is brilliant.
15:42Absolutely incredible.
15:46Lionel Messi, the savior.
15:49Norway's incredible run continues.
15:52Harry Kane who crosses the very good there again.
15:55And Switzerland to beat Messi and Argentina.
15:57Cristiano Ronaldo.
15:59Neymar.
15:59World Cup careers comes to a close.
16:01They didn't give up.
16:03They had an amazing run.
16:04The world can be...
16:05Oh, that is a wondrous goal.
16:10Gilead Mbappe.
16:1120 career World Cup goals.
16:14It's Micheo Marino.
16:16It's June Ballyham.
16:18Spain, England.
16:19Move on.
16:22Pedro Porre.
16:26Argentina do it again.
16:29Five weeks and 104 matches later.
16:31All roads at this 2026 FIFA World Cup have led us here for the final.
16:38And then a huge collision his day is done.
16:41Williams knocks it down.
16:42It's a goal.
16:43It's Ferran Torres.
16:46Well, that's one way to break the Argentine spirit.
16:49For the second time in their history, Spain have won the World Cup.
16:55Thank you for all the wonderful football that you played.
16:57Can I ask for all the football teams?
16:59.
17:01.
17:02.
17:02.
