00:00:00Ben and Frank here from Man of Many. We're going to talk all things Watches and Wonders 2025.

00:00:05We're holding the four down here in Sydney while our compatriots Rob and John are over there in Geneva at

00:00:12Watches and Wonders.

00:00:13Getting all of the on the ground footage. We're going to talk all things Cartier, Rolex, etc.

00:00:19We're going to break down all the brands. I'm going to pick Frank's brains a little bit about some of

00:00:23his favorite releases and what he thinks is happening over there.

00:00:26So let's get into it. I just want to start, Frank, with what Watches and Wonders is like when you're

00:00:31over there.

00:00:31I haven't been there. We've got Rob, branded concert editor, and John, head of social, over there at the moment

00:00:36experiencing this.

00:00:38It's Rob's second time, John's first time, but you've been there before. So I just want to know what it's

00:00:42like.

00:00:43Yes, I've been there before. So just to backtrack, Watches and Wonders is the world's biggest watch fair.

00:00:49It used to be SIHH, which was exclusively for the Richemont Group, which is the parent company of brands like

00:00:57IWC, Panerai, Gégé Le Coup, Cartier, and some other independent brands.

00:01:03It's now expanded into Watches and Wonders, where they have the addition of brands like Rolex and other independent brands

00:01:11joining the party.

00:01:13But it's, yeah, it's a massive, massive event where they convert this exhibition center into like mini showrooms for each

00:01:21of the brands.

00:01:22And they spend big on this. They spend so much money on their stalls to make it as grand and

00:01:28as flashy as possible.

00:01:29You go from brand to brand, speaking to their ambassadors, some of the watchmakers, and they talk about their new

00:01:40releases.

00:01:40So it's a big showcase of all of the releases for the year ahead.

00:01:44Yeah, I think I read somewhere 60 brands are there this year. Was it as big when you were there?

00:01:50It was pretty big. I don't think it was quite 60, but yeah, it's always been quite a big event.

00:01:55How many people do you reckon? Is it packed constantly?

00:01:59There's thousands. I'm not sure about the format at the moment.

00:02:03Like previously, it was mostly attended by media as well as people in the watch industry, so jewelers and watch

00:02:12retailers as well.

00:02:14They would go along there and they would see the new releases and put in their orders for the upcoming

00:02:19year.

00:02:19It's kind of evolved over time now with the digitization of everything.

00:02:24You know, journalists would go over there and get their stories for the year ahead, but now with social media,

00:02:30you know, it's just one big bang where everyone's putting out all their content, everyone's getting their stories, everything's going

00:02:36live all at once.

00:02:38Yeah, it's hectic.

00:02:38I think even holding down the fort here is insane, but I think the hardest thing, Rob, when he's over

00:02:45there and trying to cover a lot of these releases, just finding the time to both see the watches and

00:02:49touch them and feel them and bring that information out to the audience, but also just sit there and write

00:02:55the articles.

00:02:56It's tough. Every single year he mentions just how hard it is to do that, but it's obviously an exciting

00:03:02event.

00:03:02What's some of the cool things you get to do when you're over there? So I think you've visited some

00:03:06manufacturers in the past.

00:03:06Yeah, so the watch fair itself is just very busy. As a journalist, when you're there, you're just back to

00:03:13back meeting different people from different brands, and it's very exhausting.

00:03:19You get up early in the morning, it's dark, you go inside, you leave, it's still dark, you've had no

00:03:25sleep.

00:03:26There's some little snacks, some champagne, some coffee while you're in there. So there'll be a lot of tired heads

00:03:33there.

00:03:34A lot of the brands, they'll put on some additional events, so after hours and stuff, they'll have some big

00:03:41gala dinners or some presentations or cocktail nights, there's some fondue parties and that kind of thing.

00:03:47Fondue parties.

00:03:48Yeah, yeah.

00:03:50That's a core memory, I think.

00:03:52Yeah. Well, I don't like cheese, so that's my worst nightmare.

00:03:56Yeah, cool.

00:03:57But yeah, some of these events are quite extravagant. I remember going to an IWC dinner and looking at the

00:04:05table across, and Bradley Cooper was sitting there, and Albert Black was up on stage performing.

00:04:10Wow, and they go all out.

00:04:11They go all out, and a lot of these brands do have some big global ambassadors and celebrities who are

00:04:19on their books, so they invite them to the fair as well to put on a bit of a show

00:04:24for everyone.

00:04:25And they love Watchers too, a lot of these people. I mean, you saw me in that Derek Rose video

00:04:28this morning of him showing off his JLC, which is pretty cool.

00:04:31Yeah.

00:04:31I don't even know if he's a brand ambassador, but I think he just loves Watchers. I mean, maybe he's

00:04:35a brand ambassador, but I think he just loves Watchers, and he just wants to go to this thing that

00:04:39everyone talks about.

00:04:40And when you visit the manufacturers, I think, have you visited Cartier or JLC?

00:04:44I've not been to Cartier. I've been to a few brands who aren't actually at Watchers and Wonders.

00:04:50One thing about Watchers and Wonders is that the Swatch Group do not participate. Rumor is they have a rule

00:04:57that they're not allowed to participate in watch fairs, because there used to be one called Baselworld, where all of

00:05:03the Swatch Group brands would go.

00:05:04You won't see any brands like Omega, Breguet, Longines.

00:05:08Yeah, they're not there.

00:05:09They're not there.

00:05:10Yeah, okay. They like to send me emails, though, even though they're not there. I think Breitling's another one that

00:05:15always turns up in the inbox when the clock strikes midnight on the 1st of April.

00:05:21But I've heard they've done some private jet things and some very cheeky off-site things.

00:05:25A couple of years ago, they did. They hired a commercial jet and invited a bunch of journalists along on

00:05:31that. And the whole jet was branded with Breitling. All of the staff were in Breitling uniforms.

00:05:37Yeah, it was quite an extravagant activation to put on. So, yeah, it did create quite a buzz.

00:05:43Wow. Yeah, I think I give it to them. It's a funny one, though, because then all the brands that

00:05:48are paying to be there get very annoyed when they see things pop up here and there from other brands

00:05:53that aren't paying to be there.

00:05:54But I guess they're paying for a massive commercial jet, so we'll give it to them. I would happily be

00:05:59on that jet, by the way.

00:06:01What other interesting things have you done? Like, when you visit the manufacturers, tell me through that process. So, you

00:06:06go off-site to where and how does it work?

00:06:10Yeah, so off-site, because obviously, Watches and Wonders, it's in Geneva. And, you know, you might go off-site

00:06:16before or after the fair to some of the brands that you have a relationship with to go see where

00:06:22the watches are made.

00:06:23So, you actually get to go there, you get to speak with the watchmakers, you get to see them making

00:06:27their pieces, and it kind of gives you an insight into what goes into some of these watches.

00:06:33Yeah. And when you're there in the – is it like an exhibition hall or something, is it?

00:06:37Yeah, it's an exhibition hall.

00:06:38Yeah. And then when you're there, are you racing between brands? Are they trying to like – or are you

00:06:43just walking around and choosing and picking and choosing what you want to do?

00:06:45Yeah. You have a set schedule, and there's not much time in between. So, you have your schedule and you

00:06:51stick to it. You're just bouncing between brand to brand to brand.

00:06:55Right.

00:06:55You're going to a talk where someone is announcing the release of their new watches.

00:07:00Or, you know, you're having a one-on-one meeting with little hands-on to touch and feel, or you're

00:07:06going to a session dedicated to capturing some content and taking some photography and video.

00:07:11Yeah, cool. Okay. Exciting stuff. Should we get into the releases? What's that?

00:07:15Let's do it.

00:07:16Yeah, let's do it.

00:07:17Cool. All right. Let's start with Cartier. Kind of like a pretty underrated release, I reckon, this year from all

00:07:24of them.

00:07:25I think – I want to talk Tank first, but then we'll get into the guichet. I'm assuming that's how

00:07:31you pronounce it.

00:07:31My French is not the world's best. Please don't hate me. But let's talk Tank Louis Cartier.

00:07:37So, number one release from them this year. Available yellow gold and rose gold.

00:07:42Slightly larger dimensions and that new caliber 1899 manufactured caliber. Automatic.

00:07:48So, really sort of just classy release, I think, overall. What's your sort of take on it?

00:07:53Yeah, it's a beautiful watch. You know, the tank is such a classic piece.

00:07:57Just some small refinements on it. Nothing huge, but I think it's just a beautiful watch. It's a great watch.

00:08:04There's nothing groundbreaking or revolutionary about it, but it's just a solid piece.

00:08:10Who's that guy that – he's a big tanker. I can't remember his name. He wears the glasses. He was

00:08:15in Jurassic Park.

00:08:19Yeah, Jeff Goldblum. How do you say his name? This guy grinds my gears a little bit. I'm not going

00:08:24to lie.

00:08:24Whenever I see him, he's always dressed up so nicely, but extravagantly, I reckon.

00:08:30And he's a big tank fan, a big tank Louis fan. I don't know if they're paying him, but he's

00:08:36constantly rocking these watches.

00:08:38He's a massive tank collection. I was doing an article on all his watches sort of two weeks ago.

00:08:44I was working on it. And then all of a sudden, someone gave me a little bit of background news

00:08:49that there might be some tank Louis stuff coming out.

00:08:51I instantly thought of Jeff Goldblum when I saw these releases come out.

00:08:55I don't know if he's a yellow gold man or a rose gold man, but I like how the yellow

00:09:00gold's on like a nice alligator strap, and the rose gold on the brown, I reckon, is totally the move.

00:09:05I don't know about the yellow gold on the gray. It's sort of like a dark gray alligator strap.

00:09:12I'm kind of on the fence about that one, but the rose gold on the brown alligator instantly, that's just

00:09:16Jeff Goldblum in a nutshell, I reckon.

00:09:18And I think we'll see him pop out in that soon on a red carpet.

00:09:22The size, 38 by 27.75, I think it's a cool size.

00:09:27I think it'll wear quite well. It's not overly sized.

00:09:30I actually think sometimes people go a little bit wild with the tanks, and they just prefer like a smaller

00:09:36tank,

00:09:37just because I think it's quite like an elongated and obviously rectangular shape to it.

00:09:41But I think 38 will sit pretty nicely on the wrist.

00:09:44From all the images we've seen online, it looks pretty good.

00:09:48I think it's just another size option.

00:09:51I think having the really small, you know, the smaller watches are kind of in style at the moment,

00:09:58but when they're quite small, if you do have a big wrist, then it kind of looks a bit ridiculous.

00:10:02So I think having it slightly larger allows you, with a larger wrist, to have a smaller watch that doesn't

00:10:08look completely ridiculous.

00:10:09Yeah, and I think it's something that I know some Cardio Tank fans have been asked for a slightly bigger

00:10:14one for a while now,

00:10:14and I think it totally fits, and I'm a big fan of it.

00:10:18I've also loved the fact that they've just gone automatic with it.

00:10:22They could have gone Quartz, I guess, but I like the fact that they've sort of catered to the watch

00:10:28enthusiasts a little bit.

00:10:29But I think there's a lot of Quartz fans out there, particularly Cardio Tank Quartz fans,

00:10:34but I don't know.

00:10:35I just like the fact that it's automatic, it makes me feel warm and fuzzy.

00:10:38Yeah, yeah.

00:10:39You could have gone manual wind as well, but I think, yeah, having the automatic.

00:10:43There's a black lacquer dial manual wound.

00:10:48I think it's a Santos that released, I believe it was last year, maybe a year before.

00:10:52That thing is still just like the goals for me.

00:10:55The fact that it's just like this random offside, like manual wound thing, it's black with a black strap.

00:11:01It's just that watch is still so hot to me.

00:11:03So, this is another good sort of addition.

00:11:06They haven't changed things up too much, I think, this year, but that's cool.

00:11:09Let's do Tank Guichet.

00:11:11And I wish Rob was here to tell me how to pronounce this, or Nick, because Nick's a big French

00:11:15man.

00:11:16But let's talk about these.

00:11:18These are crazy looking.

00:11:19They look like a Gucci watch a little bit.

00:11:21But I don't want to say that from the jump, but it's given me the Gucci vibes.

00:11:26And I'm kind of into it.

00:11:27I think some people were like a little bit on the fence about how these look initially, especially when they

00:11:32came through the office.

00:11:33Everyone's like, ooh, it's a bit interesting.

00:11:34Not really like sure about it.

00:11:36But there's a 950 platinum one with the strangest sort of apertures on the – it's just – I don't

00:11:44understand what's happening.

00:11:45The hours and the minutes are just all over the place, limited to 200 pieces.

00:11:49I'm a big fan of that one.

00:11:50What about you?

00:11:51Yeah, I love it.

00:11:52I love this design.

00:11:53I think it's great.

00:11:54I think it's the kind of watch it looks like.

00:11:55It could have been designed in 2025 or 1945.

00:12:01It's kind of timeless.

00:12:03It's a bit unique.

00:12:04And it also gives me a bit of like kind of post-apocalyptic vibes.

00:12:08Like it could have been a – you know, it could have been a part of a costume design from

00:12:13like an 80s movie like Robocop or something.

00:12:15It's very metropolis, yeah.

00:12:16Yeah.

00:12:17It's a bit kind of – yeah, it's got that art deco kind of brutalist as well.

00:12:21It's like a bit digital too, I think.

00:12:23It kind of looks like – I mean, if this was a digital watch, you'd kind of give it a

00:12:27break as well.

00:12:27But the fact it's this cool automatic thing with – I mean, I think it's just very unique.

00:12:33Is it a fashion watch or is it a watch watch?

00:12:35Like what do you think?

00:12:36I think it's both.

00:12:36I think it's a bit of a tease as well.

00:12:38Like, you know, just having those apertures, having the numbers kind of peek through.

00:12:43Yeah.

00:12:44Yeah, I love it.

00:12:45And I like having that big kind of solid monolithic case.

00:12:49Monolithic.

00:12:50I like that.

00:12:51Yeah, it looks great.

00:12:52I think it's a very cool watch.

00:12:53I'm not – I have – so far the reception I think has been pretty good to it.

00:12:57I will run through.

00:12:58There's three versions.

00:12:59There's a platinum, as I mentioned, limited edition, different aperture.

00:13:03On the hours and the minutes there.

00:13:05Kind of all over the place.

00:13:06The hours is like sideways.

00:13:08It's crazy.

00:13:08I mean, which I guess if you're actually looking at it on your wrist, it makes a lot of sense.

00:13:12But when you're looking at a photo and it's vertical, you're like, what's going on there?

00:13:15A rose gold on a dark gray alligator and a yellow on a green alligator.

00:13:22So, I'm a big – I think my favorite is that yellow gold on the green alligator strap.

00:13:26I don't know.

00:13:26It's baller to me.

00:13:27Like, it's Miami vibes.

00:13:28It's like with the craziest suit in the world where you could pull this off.

00:13:32But I'm a big fan.

00:13:33I like the platinum for me.

00:13:35I think it's cool because it's just kind of understated.

00:13:37It almost looks steel because it's got that brush finish as well.

00:13:39It does look – I thought it was steel at first.

00:13:41Yeah.

00:13:42Yeah.

00:13:42I think the platinum is – 950 platinum.

00:13:44It's always the move.

00:13:46Size-wise, 37.6 by 24.8.

00:13:49So, good size.

00:13:50I think it's like a nice medium-sized watch.

00:13:52They haven't made it too big.

00:13:55Thickness, though.

00:13:55It's apparently quite a thin watch.

00:13:57We've got six mils written down here, which I feel like has to be wrong.

00:14:00But I think the movement itself is 2.1.

00:14:03So, that's pretty darn impressive.

00:14:06We'll get into a little bit about the movement.

00:14:08So, we're looking at 40 – I believe it's 43, 45 power reserve on it.

00:14:16Hand-wound, though.

00:14:17So, is hand-wound – what are you feeling on hand-wound?

00:14:19I don't mind hand-wound.

00:14:21I don't mind the hand-wound.

00:14:22What I want to play with – I want to get it in hand and play with the crown

00:14:26because the crown position is quite unique.

00:14:28It kind of sits in between the case and the end of the strap.

00:14:33So, I'd like to see how it feels when you stick your fingers in there.

00:14:36You can see there's like a bit of a scalloped finish detail on the end of the case

00:14:41to help you get your fingers in there.

00:14:44So, that is quite interesting.

00:14:45I'd like to see how that mechanism, how they've kind of navigated that

00:14:49and been able to create it to still be functional.

00:14:53Yeah.

00:14:53At 12 o'clock as well, I think – would you have to take this off the wrist to set

00:14:57it?

00:14:57I guess you probably would anyway.

00:14:59Yeah, I think so.

00:15:00Yeah, being hand-wound, too.

00:15:01I guess you're doing that regardless.

00:15:02But it's an interesting position.

00:15:04I don't know.

00:15:04It actually makes a lot of sense, though, because I reckon if it was on the side,

00:15:07it would just not make any sense.

00:15:09It would be unbalanced with the watch.

00:15:10It's like so well balanced, I think, even that limited edition one

00:15:13where everything's a bit offset.

00:15:15I love the balance of it.

00:15:16I love that gold and green one.

00:15:19Big fan.

00:15:21Is this a casual wear or is this a formal wear?

00:15:24I think it's both.

00:15:25Yeah.

00:15:25I think it's both.

00:15:28Yeah, it just depends on how you style it, I suppose.

00:15:30What do you think the collectors are going to think of this?

00:15:32Is this like an absolute must-buy or is this like a bit too strange?

00:15:37I think it's just a taste thing.

00:15:38I think it's great.

00:15:39I think it's – yeah, some people don't like it.

00:15:43Some people absolutely love it.

00:15:44I think it's just a personal taste thing.

00:15:47Yeah, I think I'm in that court.

00:15:48And I love the images too that Cartier has provided for the press.

00:15:52I'm looking at them now on our screen.

00:15:54They just look so cool.

00:15:55It's so – yeah, the Metropolis vibe.

00:16:00Let's round up the Cartier releases, Frank.

00:16:02I want to get your favourite and if you have one, the biggest surprise.

00:16:07I think my favourite definitely is the Acrochet in platinum, as I mentioned before.

00:16:12I think it's just such a nice watch.

00:16:14It's understated, but it's bold.

00:16:16It's interesting.

00:16:17It's unique.

00:16:19So, to me, that's both the most surprising and my favourite design.

00:16:23I have to say, I'm probably in the same boat as you.

00:16:26I'm a 200-piece limited edition.

00:16:28When you say the words limited edition to me, I instantly get excited.

00:16:33But I think it's going to be that golden green.

00:16:35I don't know.

00:16:35It's just like you take a watch that's already like such a wow watch.

00:16:39You're looking at what the heck.

00:16:40And then you just make a golden alligator green.

00:16:42I think it's just a nice sort of combination there.

00:16:45And I like the balance.

00:16:45I do like the fact the other ones aren't sort of unbalanced in a way,

00:16:48but I just think that sort of symmetrical look is so up my alley.

00:16:52So, that's pretty much Cardia.

00:17:15We're going to do that at number two.

00:17:17We're going to spend a little bit of time on this.

00:17:19So, we're going to talk everything Land Dweller.

00:17:22Obviously, that's the big headlining release.

00:17:24But I have a lot of personal picks in here.

00:17:40So, let's get into it.

00:17:42A lot to unpack here.

00:17:43Honestly, when I got the email at midnight, when the clock strikes midnight,

00:17:48it didn't look like there was a whole bunch to unpack it.

00:17:51And I got kind of excited because I wouldn't have to sit there for like two hours

00:17:54writing thousands of words about it.

00:17:55But then all of a sudden, you sort of research these things.

00:17:58And it just becomes so nuanced.

00:18:01But I want to make it as simple to understand as possible for the listeners out there.

00:18:05But we're going to start with the big release, which was teased by Roger Federer like 16 hours

00:18:12before it came out.

00:18:13It's the Land Dweller.

00:18:14It's the elephant in the room.

00:18:15But we sort of knew this watch was coming because they'd filed patents in the US for

00:18:20the name Land Dweller and Coast Dweller.

00:18:23So, I think some insiders sort of knew it was coming.

00:18:25But they never tell us anything, no matter what we ask.

00:18:27So, it got announced.

00:18:29Land Dweller.

00:18:30So, it's heading inland, basically.

00:18:34It's available in six different references.

00:18:37And I'm going to get your reactions for the prices because they are quite up there.

00:18:42Actually, more than six references.

00:18:43It's available in 10 references.

00:18:44But I put a few of my favorite numbers down here.

00:18:47I'm going to focus on the 40 millimeter variants.

00:18:49You can get two variants, 36 and 40, all in the same spec.

00:18:53So, I've got five of the 40 millimeter references to quote here for price.

00:18:57It starts at $24,200 Australian dollars.

00:19:01Sounds not too bad, to be honest, but something that's quite technical.

00:19:04More on that in a second.

00:19:05You can also get it in...

00:19:07So, that's in white roller saw, which is a combination of sort of white gold and metal steel.

00:19:14So, $24,200 for that.

00:19:17You can step up from there.

00:19:18It gets expensive.

00:19:19So, you can have it Everose Gold, $74,900.

00:19:24Everose Gold gem set, $167,500.

00:19:29I actually love that they publish these prices though.

00:19:32And then you can just strip it back to just being platinum.

00:19:35Just platinum is $101,300.

00:19:38That comes with a special sort of icy blue dial.

00:19:42And then you can do my favorite.

00:19:45The one that I would buy is the 40 mil 950 platinum gem set, $186,500, which is up there.

00:19:54So, I think you're going to be some type of serious bullet.

00:19:57I guess there's so many people out there that would do it though.

00:19:59I can imagine all the rappers and athletes out there just to walk into the Rolex, you know,

00:20:03and say, give me the most expensive version of the new watch you've got with factory set diamonds.

00:20:08So, give me a reaction.

00:20:09What do you reckon?

00:20:10Let's just talk Land Dweller into that price as well.

00:20:12Well, yeah.

00:20:13I think this is probably the most talked about release of this year's Watches and Wonders.

00:20:19The Rolex Land Dweller is the most talked about.

00:20:23It's quite interesting in terms of the pricing.

00:20:27Yeah, it's up there.

00:20:28But it's quite an interesting release because when you look at it visually, there's a lot of things going on.

00:20:35And it's very Rolex, but at the same time, you can draw a lot of similarities with some other watches.

00:20:41Yeah.

00:20:42If you want to talk, let's talk about the design and the look and feel of it.

00:20:47Let's do it.

00:20:48So, yeah, something about it, the integrated bracelet.

00:20:51This is the first integrated bracelet that Rolex has done in quite a while.

00:20:56And I think that's probably one of the key things about it that has people talking because, you know, the

00:21:04GOAT of integrated bracelets is the Royal Oak, the AP Royal Oak.

00:21:08So, any time any brand creates a watch with an integrated bracelet, you either got to design something that's so

00:21:15different from the Royal Oak that it just kind of stands alone,

00:21:19or design something that has some similarities of the Royal Oak and know that your watch is forever going to

00:21:24be compared to the Royal Oak.

00:21:27And I think Rolex is, yeah, this new watch is something that a lot of people are looking at and

00:21:34saying it's like a Royal Oak.

00:21:35It's a Rolex version of a Royal Oak.

00:21:37I've also seen a lot of people compare it to a PRX at Tissot.

00:21:41And I have to say to them, I've got an early look at the Landweller here on my wrist.

00:21:46It looks a lot like a PRX, but I do like this.

00:21:51Okay, I want to, I did the article.

00:21:53I want to break it down into its parts.

00:21:55So, flat Jubilee bracelet, all new.

00:21:58It's just for this.

00:22:20Yeah, it's a bit Lamborghini.

00:22:22Oh, it is a lot Lamborghini.

00:22:23You say that, wow, like a little hexagonal.

00:22:28Interesting.

00:22:28I think it's a lot Lamborghini, actually.

00:22:30It's like sitting inside of Urus.

00:22:32I like the icy blue choice on the 950 platinum and the white on the stainless ones, obviously clean too.

00:22:40Hands, indices, everything like that, I'm a big fan of.

00:22:42Strangely, and you can't unsee this, it only has a nine and a six.

00:22:48There's no other numbers on the dial, which is interesting to me.

00:22:51It's kind of like you can't unsee it when you see it.

00:22:54And they've put a nice large Rolex crown at the 12 o'clock.

00:22:58So, I don't know mine.

00:22:59I think it's balanced.

00:23:00I think it, when you, I can't unsee the fact that it only has a nine and a six, but

00:23:03also, like, what else are they going to do?

00:23:05I think it has the day window and the massive crown at the top.

00:23:07So, like, I think I'd rather just have those two things there.

00:23:11No crown guard, it's clean.

00:23:13I'm a big fan of it.

00:23:14I think it looks very cool.

00:23:15I think the Honeycomb is a controversial choice.

00:23:18But if you were going to imagine Rolex making an integrated bracelet watch, I think you'd probably land on something

00:23:23like this.

00:23:24Sort of just a classic Oyster course case, integrated flagibly bracelet, fluted bezel, Honeycomb dials questionable.

00:23:33But apart from that, I think they've pretty much nailed this.

00:23:35And technically speaking, it's very impressive, too.

00:23:38Just on that as well, I think something about this that is quite striking are the highlights.

00:23:44And what I mean by that is on a bracelet, especially more the higher end you go in watches, what

00:23:52you'll notice is that certain surfaces are polished and certain surfaces are brushed.

00:23:58And the tension to detail that they put into that is what makes it really sparkle.

00:24:02So when you look at this watch, you'll see it pick up the light really well and kind of sparkles.

00:24:06And it's interesting and it looks like there's a lot of shine, a lot of highlights going on.

00:24:11And that's because if you look at the bracelet, they've got the links in the center, which have a high

00:24:16mirror polish.

00:24:18And then also kind of on the edges of those links, they're chamfered.

00:24:23So they cut like 45 degrees and some of those surfaces are polished, which picks up the light really well.

00:24:29On top of having that, you know, that, you know, trademark fluted bezel as well with that high polish and

00:24:36that shape.

00:24:37It really picks up the light.

00:24:38So when you wear it, it's like a piece of jewelry more so than like a tool watch kind of

00:24:43thing with all those kind of elements that pick up the light.

00:24:46So that's something about it that really gives it its brilliance.

00:24:50Yeah.

00:24:50I'm a big fan of this watch.

00:24:5320% thinner than a Datejust as well is what I've heard.

00:24:55So like quite a nice thing that will slip under the shirt quite well.

00:25:0136 and 40 millimeter.

00:25:03I think 40 millimeter is a good size.

00:25:05They could have maybe gone smaller, but I think why?

00:25:09I think 40 millimeter is pretty much perfect.

00:25:10That's also PRX sizing.

00:25:13So I think PRX is a good size.

00:25:15So I'm happy.

00:25:16I'm happy with the 40.

00:25:18Let's get into the caliber.

00:25:20So it's sort of a spinoff of the 7140, which we've seen in the 1908.

00:25:26And we'll talk a bit about that in a second.

00:25:29It's extremely impressive.

00:25:31Insanely accurate.

00:25:32Measures time to a tenth of a second, which is wild.

00:25:36Five hertz frequency.

00:25:37It's the first time they've ever done a five hertz frequency movement.

00:25:4066 hours power reserve is so impressive, even like more impressive because of how fast the watch beats.

00:25:48Dyna Pulse Escaven, which is a Rolex term they've sort of taken.

00:25:51It's just more efficient, but it's also fragile.

00:25:54And they've addressed that with a bunch of nice little suspension thingies inside the watch and everything like that.

00:26:00But I don't want to get too into it because it can get boring very quickly.

00:26:03But it's just exciting.

00:26:05I think they've created like a new movement that is technically just a showcase of what they're capable of in

00:26:11-house.

00:26:11And I think we can touch on that high beat movement and why that is important, why that's something that,

00:26:17yeah, why it is an important feature is that a high beat movement, what that means is that essentially the

00:26:26watch ticks faster.

00:26:27So it's every part and every piece in that watch is moving faster and faster than in something that has

00:26:35a lower beat, which means that all the parts are wearing and aging more quickly than another watch.

00:26:42So high beat movements, you know, way back in the day, would those watches, they'd be destroyed quickly.

00:26:50They made them, but then they wouldn't last as long because all the parts were working and wearing and aging

00:26:56a lot quicker.

00:26:56But over time, advancements in technology, advancements in materials and manufacturing process have allowed manufacturers to create these high beat

00:27:06watches and be able to withstand the test of time and, yeah, last a lot longer.

00:27:11So now is probably the best time for it because I guess that technology is right at the forefront.

00:27:15I kind of, being a car guy, I reckon, it's kind of like having a race engine in your watch,

00:27:19except you don't have to rebuild it up every race.

00:27:22It's like a drag engine in your watch, which is pretty cool.

00:27:24It's cool to have, it's kind of like, I guess you could just call this sort of like the Porsche

00:27:28GT3 of watches where it has a race engine in a pretty nicely encased.

00:27:32I don't know, maybe that's just me.

00:27:34Are they too late to the integrated bracelet?

00:27:36I don't think it's ever too late.

00:27:38I think, yeah, they're smart.

00:27:41They know what they're doing.

00:27:41Obviously, they've seen a demand for it.

00:27:44And I think it's just for them, it's more of a design.

00:27:46It just gives them an extra pillar.

00:27:48But, you know, they've got this watch and we'll see multiple variations of this watch over the coming years.

00:27:56Yeah, I think for sure.

00:27:57Obviously, there's Everose Gold now, but next year they'll probably just get to release a yellow gold version as well.

00:28:04Why wouldn't they?

00:28:04And there'll be different dial colors and maybe they'll even change the pattern on the dial.

00:28:09That honeycomb is growing on me, though, the more I look at it.

00:28:12Who's this watch for?

00:28:15That's a good question.

00:28:16I don't know.

00:28:17Like, I think it's one that we'll find out soon.

00:28:21Yeah, I think Rolex has always had a broad appeal with, like, the Submariner, the Day Day.

00:28:29The appeal's always been broad with Rolex.

00:28:32So I think this, again, will be quite broad.

00:28:36I don't think it'll specifically be just for the collectors.

00:28:41But, you know, time will tell.

00:28:43Yeah, I think so.

00:28:44I think the, I don't know this for a fact, but I wouldn't be surprised if sort of like the

00:28:48early buyers, you know, the people get excited about it, but then also people that have always wanted an automatic

00:28:54Oyster Cores.

00:28:56Sort of the enthusiasts out there.

00:28:58I mean, I've already seen a lot of them online getting pretty excited about just having an integrated bracelet at

00:29:02this price point.

00:29:03It's pretty appealing.

00:29:05I think that's pretty much it for the old land.

00:29:34So, they've, and it's a lefty.

00:29:35So, it's a lefty again.

00:29:36So, we saw the lefty in 2022.

00:29:38And they've basically taken that exact same watch.

00:29:41Everyone's calling it the Sprite or the Starbucks.

00:29:43And then flipped it with a ceramic, green ceramic dial.

00:29:48So, it's fairly simple.

00:29:54You know, it's a great watch.

00:29:56Yeah.

00:29:56But, you know, it's nothing, you know, it's nothing too new.

00:30:00It's just a nice addition, something different.

00:30:03But that's about it.

00:30:04Obviously, it's quality.

00:30:06It's Rolex.

00:30:06But...

00:30:07I think if you were going to pull something out of it, I just love the look as ceramic as

00:30:11a material on a watch.

00:30:13I think having a ceramic dial on a watch, especially something that's pretty unique like this, I just think it

00:30:19looks great.

00:30:20I mean, the way...

00:30:21It's hard to explain, but until you see a watch...

00:30:23I mean, this watch is 75,000, nearly 76,000 Australian dollars.

00:30:26So, when you see a watch that's this high caliber, it's white gold in the flesh with a ceramic dial,

00:30:32it just looks super duper expensive.

00:30:35So, I think you can write it off as a bit of a nothing release.

00:30:38But I don't think that's necessarily justified just because it all looks so damn expensive in person.

00:30:44And people are going to line up around the block to get them.

00:30:47So, I mean, this watch, I would not be surprised to see this watch going for like nearly 100,000

00:30:52bucks on the secondary market.

00:30:53So, yeah, I do get excited a little bit.

00:30:57But, I mean, they could have...

00:30:58In some ways, it's a bit of a tease because they could have gone so many different directions with this.

00:31:02But they've just basically chosen to update something they released a few years ago with ceramic.

00:31:06But I'd love to see them just keep it going.

00:31:09Like, why not make it different colors?

00:31:12Like, why go green?

00:31:13I don't know.

00:31:13But it doesn't match the sort of bezel we insert perfectly.

00:31:17So, it's a nice green.

00:31:18It's a nice sort of Starbucks-y green, which I like.

00:31:23I have a lot to say about these oyster perpetuals.

00:31:26Because they are literally just the same oyster perpetuals that we've seen, except we've got...

00:31:31So, we've got 41, 28, 36 OPs with three new dial colors.

00:31:38They like hiding a lot of these things in the configurator.

00:31:40And it can be a little bit confusing to figure out what is what.

00:31:43But I'm looking at a 41-millimeter pistachio dial right now.

00:31:49And it is just speaking to me.

00:31:50I don't know why the pastels are just so hot.

00:31:53I think I watched...

00:31:55I mean, it's smooth as well.

00:31:56A watch that looks like this is just my type of thing.

00:32:00It's so my vibe.

00:32:01I think the lavender is really cool at 28 millimeters.

00:32:04The beige on the 36 millimeter, I think, is just a nice subtle one.

00:32:08For people that have too many watches, they just go, oh, I'll just get one of those.

00:32:11I think the pistachio 41, it has a redesign.

00:32:18Everything's been trimmed a little bit more on the 41.

00:32:22It's a little bit tutory, to be honest.

00:32:24But I'm a big fan of that watch.

00:32:29I think the colors, the pastels, you know, they're nice.

00:32:32It's nice to have like a little pop of color.

00:32:34But nothing that's too overpowering.

00:32:37It makes it quite versatile.

00:32:40I think it's an okay release.

00:32:41It's like, again, just small refinements, new color.

00:32:46I mean, keeping it simple sometimes is the best thing.

00:32:48I think in the past we've seen, what did we see?

00:32:50We saw a nice sort of pink.

00:32:51We saw the Tiffany turquoise, which is still available, I believe, from what I've seen in

00:32:56the configurator.

00:32:57Maybe they'll get rid of it.

00:32:57But quick note on the pricing.

00:33:01So, 41 mil pistachio oyster seal, $10,550.

00:33:0636 oyster seal with the beige, $10,050 Australian.

00:33:13And then the 28, I think it lands around the $9,000 mark.

00:33:17So, some of the more accessible ones.

00:33:19I wouldn't be surprised if you can kind of pick these up pretty simply at your local boutique.

00:33:24I know a few people that have got OP41s.

00:33:27They don't go for crazy money on the secondary market.

00:33:30So, they should be fairly accessible.

00:33:34But yeah.

00:33:34So, the 28 mil does have a different movement as a 22-32 caliber, while the bigger 36 and

00:33:4241 have 32-30 caliber.

00:33:4470 hours power reserve.

00:33:46So, it's also like quite a technically impressive watch.

00:33:49And I think there are a lot of watches you can buy around that $10,000 price tag.

00:33:54But it does come in at sort of under $14,000 by quite a bit.

00:33:57So, for 70 hours power reserve, nice pastel dial.

00:34:00I think it's a pretty sort of cool release.

00:34:04Flies under the radar a bit.

00:34:05And also, it's like from now on, the OP41 2025 release being a slightly different case will

00:34:12also make it slightly more collectible moving forward.

00:34:14So, they've improved it.

00:34:18Let's do kind of another one that's just a little quickie is the Perpetual 1908.

00:34:24So, this watch originally released in 2023 to replace the Cellini.

00:34:29Named after the Rolex was trademarked.

00:34:32And this year, it's coming in yellow gold with a new bracelet.

00:34:37It is a stunning bracelet and seven bands or seven rings in the bracelet.

00:34:43I'm a big fan of it.

00:34:45What's your take?

00:34:46Yeah.

00:34:49In yellow gold, I think it's lovely.

00:35:50New bracelet is a big upgrade.

00:35:52It's a brand new bracelet too.

00:35:53So, kind of it's very vintage in design.

00:35:56I think it leans even more into the sort of vintage aesthetic of the 1908 than the previous release.

00:36:46I think that's just such a beautiful color, especially with that sunburst pattern.

00:36:56I think maybe you could critique Rolex in the past for sort of not giving the women the bolder sort

00:37:02But I think the fact this pretty much has everything is just this nice little thing to have.

00:37:14But, and this is the thing that, like, the Rolex forums get excited about is when they bring out these.

00:37:20They just, it's so funny.

00:37:21When you get the press release, they always just say, new dials for Daytona Skydell, Skydweller, and GMT Master 2.

00:37:30And then you look at it, and you're like, whoa, there's a lot happening here.

00:37:33There's way more happening here than they might say, or, like, stay in the press release.

00:37:38But let's get into it.

00:37:40So, we've got a sort of Tiffany Cosmograph Daytona.

00:37:44We've got a Australia edition, green and gold Skydweller, and a crazy Tiger Iron dial on the GMT Master 2.

00:37:57So, retail on the Daytona, $59,000.

00:38:00Retail on the Skydweller, $88,800.

00:38:03Nice lucky number there.

00:38:05GMT Master 2, $80,300.

00:38:07So, it's a nice high price point.

00:38:09So, that Daytona is going to absolutely crank.

00:38:11If you can get that, good luck to you.

00:38:15But let's break it down.

00:38:16Let's start with a Daytona turquoise dial.

00:38:18Don't call it a Tiffany.

00:38:20You know, just a beautiful watch, I think.

00:38:21I love the contrast of the gold with the black rubber strap.

00:38:25It's got it.

00:38:26It's beautiful.

00:38:27Yeah, that dial is just such a pop of color, isn't it?

00:38:33I love when they do this every year with the Daytona.

00:38:46I just love what they do with the Daytona every year.

00:39:02And this is just like, okay, we're going to be six to eight months late to the Tiffany game.

00:39:17And I think, until you see one of these things in person, I don't know if people out there have

00:39:21had a chance to see a Daytona, like a special novelty Daytona in person, but they look so expensive.

00:39:29Even though the price tag is, like, somewhat reasonable.

00:39:32It's not a $100,000 plus dollar watch, at retail price at least.

00:39:39Skydweller is just a beautiful, I mean, people call this the Australia spec, I guess, because it's green and gold,

00:39:44classic Aussie watch nerd thing.

00:39:47But who doesn't love a green dial?

00:39:49And especially when you put a Skydweller on a nice yellow gold case, it's just so hot to me.

00:39:54Yeah, it's good to see those Aussie colors shining through.

00:39:57Yeah.

00:39:57I mean, I just love Skydweller.

00:40:00And then GMT Master 2, on the iron, it has a Tiger iron dial, and I'm not going to lie

00:40:07to you, I had no idea what this was, but apparently it's a combination of a bunch of red stones.

00:40:12It's kind of, it's Everose, it's sort of root beer-y on the bezel.

00:40:17It's just a crazy thing.

00:40:19And I guess it's just another novelty from Rolex in 2025 that is going to sell out, probably already sold

00:40:26out at least for the next 12 months and go for a lot of money.

00:40:29But, I mean, I like it.

00:40:30I think it's really cool.

00:40:31I think people, when this watch got leaked, I just remember everyone, I didn't get leaked, I guess, but people

00:40:37sort of knew it might be coming.

00:40:39And from a distance, it looks kind of like one of those, like a bus seat.

00:40:46The pattern that you see on the public transport.

00:40:49I'm like, I'm looking at it from here.

00:40:50We've got it on the street over here, and it's just like, what is that?

00:41:34I think when you get a GMT Master 2 and you make it crazy, I think you're taking a tool

00:41:38watch and you're making it, I mean, it's just another F off a watch where it's just F a rose

00:41:47It's like when you're in a, when you're at Watches and Wonders and you don't know what to wear, like,

00:41:51it's just a go-to.

00:41:52It's like, it'd be so obvious.

00:41:53You'd be like, oh, yeah, I'm just going to whip out the Tiger iron.

00:41:56But, again, like these things, they're fun, they're fun watches to look at and they're highly collectible.

00:42:00But they're also just technically, like, such amazing watches made to such a high standard.

00:42:05All the materials are always, you know, the highest of quality.

00:42:09And technically, they're great watches too.

00:42:11So, like, I mean, 70 hours power reserve is a GMT Master 2.

00:42:13So, yeah, not much else to say about that one.

00:42:17But I think those three releases at the end together are just fun and exciting to me.

00:42:23I think if I had to choose one, I'm going probably Tiffany Daytona.

00:50:12So, it's been a pretty big week already so far.

00:50:16We've seen Rolex.

00:50:17We've already talked about Cartier.

00:50:18But Tudor is kind of the accessible, fun entry point for a lot of people to Swiss watches and the

00:50:24higher-end stuff.

00:50:26So, I want to break it down.

00:50:27And they've got a bunch of stuff coming back that's being sort of re-released for this year with new

00:50:33colors, but also some new certifications and meta stuff.

00:50:36So, without further ado, let's do Black Bay 58.

00:50:40So, their top-selling model.

00:50:42It's coming back in a burgundy coloration with three references.

00:50:48There's steel bracelet, rubber strap, and fabric strap for this one.

00:50:52And it's kind of like a nice cherry color, I reckon.

00:50:55A bit of a cherry glow.

00:50:56A little Dr. Pet.

00:50:57Yeah, a little bit of burnt red kind of thing.

00:51:00Yeah.

00:51:00I think the Black Bay 58 has got to be one of the best sort of mid-range watches out

00:51:06there.

00:51:06Okay, price-wise, I'll cover it off.

00:51:08So, steel bracelet is going to be most expensive, $6,850.

00:51:12Rubber strap, $6,690.

00:51:14And then fabric, $6,370.

00:51:16So, it's a lot of watch for the money, I reckon.

00:51:19The specs are quite strong on this.

00:51:22So, optional five-link bracelet.

00:51:25And those prices, by the way, that was on the steel bracelet, the five-link bracelet.

00:51:29So, it's going to be a little bit more expensive.

00:51:32Let's get to the caliber.

00:51:33So, it's now an MT5400U, U meaning METAS certification.

00:51:41So, a bit more of an accurate.

00:51:42Precision.

00:51:43It's all about precision.

00:51:44Yeah, zero to five seconds a day on that and 65 hours power reserve.

00:51:49So, it's up there.

00:51:52And for those who don't know, Tudor is a company by the same founder as Rolex.

00:51:58So, it's always been seen as quite a good alternative to Rolex.

00:52:03And this design as well, the five-link bracelet is very reminiscent of the Rolex Jubilee bracelet.

00:52:10Just quite nice and sits on the wrist quite well.

00:52:13I like this size too, 39 millimeter.

00:52:17I'm a big fan of this watch and obviously a lot of people are too because it's their top seller.

00:52:21So, what do you think about, is the burgundy dial, is that, and the bezel as well, is that too

00:52:26aggressive for a lot of people?

00:52:28Or what do you think?

00:52:28Because we've seen green and blue sort of take off.

00:52:30Is burgundy going to take off next?

00:52:31I don't know.

00:52:32I can't see that getting like a huge adoption.

00:52:37Like, I think it's kind of nice.

00:52:39For me, that wouldn't be the color that I would choose.

00:52:42But, yeah, it'd be interesting to see how that gets taken up.

00:52:45And do you think, how much do you think the sort of Rolex-ness of this watch helps it out?

00:52:50Like, is it a nice watch in its own right?

00:52:52I know it has like the snowflake on the hour hand and things like that.

00:52:55Is it, or is it just sort of like a take down Rolex?

00:52:57No, I think it's about, I think it depends who's buying it.

00:53:00You know, some people do buy it just because of the Rolex similarities.

00:53:03But for me personally, I think it stands alone by itself as quite a nice watch and a beautiful design.

00:53:09Yeah, I'm big into the tutors.

00:53:11I know when we've had them through the office, we're going to get these through the office too, to do

00:53:15a hands-on with.

00:53:16But they always, they feel like beyond their price point.

00:53:20I know the price point is not a cheap watch by any means.

00:53:22But, I mean, if you told me this was a $10,000 watch, I'd totally believe you.

00:53:26There's a few things on it that I would like to maybe see in the future.

00:53:30Like, I don't mind a crown guard.

00:53:31Like, the fact it doesn't have a crown guard.

00:53:33But even just for the functional element of it, where it's hooked on things.

00:53:36It's one of the polarizing things about it, isn't it?

00:53:38The crown guard.

00:53:39I think, pardon me, I like it without the crown guard.

00:53:42So, I think that's tutored.

00:53:44Like, that's the look.

00:53:45I think once you add the crown guard, it takes away from what, you know, what that watch is.

00:53:50But, yeah, like from a functional perspective, you know, the crown guard's there.

00:53:54But at the same time is, you know, how often are you taking a scuba diving?

00:53:58It probably doesn't matter so much unless you're taking it underwater.

00:54:01But speaking of underwater.

00:54:03The Pelagos Ultra.

00:54:04Now, this thing, honestly, price-wise, I'll get into the specs in a second because they're pretty impressive.

00:54:09But we'll just start with the price just to set the benchmark.

00:54:12$8,840.

00:54:13And this is a lot of watch, I think, for that sort of money.

00:54:16So, titanium case, grade 5, case back, 43 millimeter in size.

00:54:21So, it's a big boy.

00:54:221,000 meters water resistant.

00:54:25And you're getting a Medask Master Chronometer as well.

00:54:28So, that's a lot of watch, I think, for the money.

00:54:30To get a titanium watch from Tudor, Swiss made with in-house movement, 1,000 meters water resistant.

00:54:36It's pretty impressive.

00:54:38Definitely.

00:54:38Is the size going to turn people away, though?

00:54:40Maybe.

00:54:41But I don't think you're buying it.

00:54:43If you're buying this, you're not thinking about the size.

00:54:44I think this is a watch for, I think this is for the collector.

00:54:48This is someone who wants that, you know, watch that they've taken to the next level.

00:54:52And good to see that Tudor is pushing it that way.

00:54:54Again, it's one of those things.

00:54:58I don't know anyone who's even taking these watches diving.

00:55:02But, you know, one kilometer under the sea.

00:55:05You could, though, right?

00:55:28There's a bit of a middle finger watch, but the spec on this is impressive.

00:55:32It's a good, it's a symbol of innovation, I think, for Tudor.

00:55:37I think having that titanium watch and the price point for what you get is pretty amazing.

00:55:50So, they're definitely like pushing people to sort of explore the capability of the watch,

00:55:54but I think it's just a nice thing to have in the box at home, I think.

00:56:20So, they've gone bigger this year.

00:56:22They've gone, last year they went Black Bay 54.

00:56:24This year they've gone 68.

00:56:26Price-wise, $6,990.

00:56:29You can have it in two different dial choices.

00:56:33So, it's bigger than Black Bay 58, obviously bigger than Black Bay 54.

00:56:38And I think the standout one here for me is no faux rivets on the bracelet.

00:56:45So, the faux rivets on the Black Bay bracelets, that's a tongue twister, have always been a

00:56:50bit of a contentious point for people because it's like, why do you have fake rivets on

00:56:54like a tool watch?

00:56:55And I think they've gone away from it here.

00:56:58The bigger case size though, I'm not sure if that's an attractive thing for me.

00:57:01But the fact there's no faux rivets, I'd love to see that just trickle down to other

00:57:04watches in the lineup too.

00:57:06But what's your take on it?

00:57:07I mean, it's a pretty beautiful watch.

00:57:08You've got two different dial colors, blue and silver.

00:57:11I think blue for me, but what do you reckon?

00:57:13Yeah, it's pretty nice.

00:57:15I've got little dainty wrists.

00:57:16So, I think it's a bit big for me.

00:57:19So, I'd probably stick to the 58.

00:57:22But it's a nice watch.

00:57:23Again, it's another option for those with bigger wrists.

00:57:26It's a great option.

00:57:27I like the blue.

00:57:27I don't mind.

00:57:28And I think there's a little bit of a movement back towards bigger watches this year.

00:57:33Because there was definitely a flip a while ago, maybe one or two years ago, to smaller

00:57:3836 and below size watches.

00:57:40And I'm in love with those watches.

00:57:43I think I love a smaller watch.

00:57:45But I think brands shouldn't be scared about going to the bigger boys as well.

00:57:48Yeah.

00:57:49I think we're in a bit of a transition phase as well.

00:57:51Like, you know, there's still people who are into the small watches, still people who are

00:57:56moving back to the larger watches.

00:57:58So, I think you see brands catering for both sizes.

00:58:01And I think that's the way it should go forward.

00:58:03I hope that the trend doesn't go back to just bigger watches or stick to just smaller watches.

00:58:08I hope that, you know, people just get to choose a bit of both.

00:58:13I think that makes a lot of sense.

00:58:14I think it's similar to, like, even Rolex with a Landweller.

00:58:17Just having that option out there of 36 or 40, the more options, the better.

00:58:21Because you get the watch that you actually want versus the watch that you sort of pushed

00:58:25So, on a watch this size, I would like a crown guard.

00:58:28I'm going to go out there and say it because I'm looking at a photo right now.

00:58:31And it's like, that's a big crown.

00:58:33And that's going to get hooked on things and also destroy my wrist.

00:58:36But for the spec, you've got a three-link stainless steel bracelet, obviously smooth sides on that.

00:59:13You can't go wrong.

00:59:15And they're made well and they look great.

00:59:16They look expensive, I think, which is important.

00:59:23I freaking love this watch.

00:59:25I think I'm such a, my watch is Rolex Explorer II Polar.

00:59:30And this is basically a take-down version of that.

00:59:33But I just think it looks so good with this white Opaline dial.

00:59:38The spec is there again.

00:59:39I'll run you quickly through the spec and the sizing.

01:05:25I think this is more of a bluey blue.

01:05:27See, I have a theory on this is that the reason why they would push it that far is because

01:05:32they know the type of person who buys it is the type of person who wants to show it and

01:05:37wants people to comment on it.

01:05:38So, they want to make it nice and vibrant so that this person can be like an advocate for their

01:05:43brand and can kind of talk about it.

01:05:46So, if they make it too understated, they're not going to get as many comments.

01:05:49Is this a watch that...

01:05:51Like, who's buying this watch?

01:05:52Is this just a collector?

01:05:53Is this a 20th watch or is this someone that like...

01:05:56Because I don't know how...

01:05:57I can't say even if I bought this watch that I'd actually wear it all that often.

01:06:00Like, it's just so out there.

01:06:01I don't know if like...

01:06:02If you've got six watches sitting in front of you in the morning, I don't know if I'd pick it

01:06:06up because it's pretty out there.

01:06:08But I mean, I like it.

01:06:09I like the idea of it.

01:06:56But to wrap up the Tudor releases, let's talk about your favorite and if there were any surprises that stood

01:07:02out to you.

01:07:03My favorite is definitely the Ultra.

01:07:05I think having that, for that price point, titanium, 1,000 meters depth, like that's, you know, they're really pushing

01:07:13it.

01:07:13And value for money, it's expression and a show of Tudor's innovation.

01:07:19I like that they're pushing boundaries in that way.

01:07:22I think a lot of the time, you know, it is just these slight refinements which improve the watch.

01:07:26But kind of going a bit bolder with something like that is quite impressive and especially going back to their

01:07:32kind of, you know, their roots.

01:07:33Like, you know, they are known as a dive watch company.

01:07:37So, to create something like that, I think it's pretty impressive.

01:07:39Yeah, I'm big into that one.

01:07:41If I had a zag, I'd probably go Burgundy, to be honest.

01:07:45Like, I'm kind of had enough with, you know, Green Dial, Blue Dial, et cetera.

01:07:49Like, let's just do the Burgundy.

01:07:50Yeah, right.

01:07:51Burgundy Benny.

01:07:51Yeah, maybe.

01:07:53I don't know.

01:07:54I saw that watch and I didn't appreciate it much until I saw it on the wrist.

01:07:58I mean, Tudor, granted, they have, like, some of the best documentary out of all the watch brands because they

01:08:05properly shoot these things and, like, fully lookbook it out with, like, the right models with the right clothing on.

01:08:12And, I mean, just selling it to me looking at it right now with this Burgundy sweater the person's wearing

01:08:18with Burgundy Darn, the filing.

01:08:20I'm like, oh, that looks pretty good.

01:08:22I don't know.

01:08:22I'm into it.

01:08:23I think if they did, I mean, at this price point, it's very hard to do.

01:08:27It's under $7,000.

01:08:29But I don't love an aluminium bezel insert.

01:08:32I prefer, like, more of, like, a ceramic, like, a summer type of thing, GMT type of thing.

01:08:38But, I mean, it's hard to argue with the price point.

01:08:41And I think it's well finished.

01:08:43The crown does still stick out to me a little bit.

01:08:46But I don't know.

01:08:46I'm nitpicking.

01:08:47I think it's just, like, sometimes you see these things and you, like, try and convince yourself you don't like

01:08:50it.

01:08:51So, yeah.

01:08:52Big fan of that.

01:08:53I also think the wearability factor on a Burgundy is underrated.

01:08:57I reckon you could totally wear this.

01:08:58Like, black suit, that'd look great.

01:09:00Just like a casual everyday white T-shirt that watch it pop, too.

01:09:03I think that's why people love the blue and the green dials.

01:09:05Just because they have that little bit of pop.

01:09:07And I'm a big fan of that.

01:09:08So, yeah.

01:09:09Give me that Burgundy.

01:09:10Yeah.

01:09:10I think you'd look good Burgundy Tudor on the wrist and just head to toe dripping in Burgundy.

01:09:18Full Burgundy.

01:09:19Cashmere.

01:09:19Yeah.

01:09:19Oh, man.

01:09:20That'd be a proper fit.

01:09:24The serious fit guy if you're pulling that off.

01:09:28Yeah.

01:09:29I think I'm a big – I think – and also, I think these releases compared to, like, we just

01:09:33did Rolex.

01:09:35Yeah, they're not necessarily, like, pushing the boundaries too much in terms of, like, what you can see visually.

01:09:40I think technically that Ultra is obviously pushing the boundaries quite a lot with 1,000 meters of water resistance

01:09:46or waterproofness.

01:09:49But I just love how they, you know, they basically refine their inline models.

01:09:52Even that Black Bay 58, which I keep going on about with the Met has some certification now.

01:09:57You know, 65 horsepower reserve, very accurate watch, even more enticing.

01:10:02And they're sort of – yeah, they're not necessarily dissing themselves from Rolex, but, you know, they're very much their

01:10:10own brand now.

01:10:10And I think in the last three to five years, I've seen that just constantly evolve.

01:10:15I think maybe five years ago, they were, you know, not necessarily – like, they didn't have the certifications that

01:10:21a lot of these watches have.

01:10:22They were definitely, like, a takedown Rolex.

01:10:24But I think now they're definitely more and more standing in their own light.

01:10:27Yeah.

01:10:27And especially since no one can get Rolexes anyway.

01:10:31Yeah.

01:10:31At the end of the day, these other Rolexes you can just actually go and buy.

01:10:34Yeah.

01:10:34And in some cases, you have to buy a few of these.

01:10:36So, yeah, I'm a big fan of these releases this year.

01:10:40And I think, yeah, we have a point here, a talking point here saying who won.

01:10:46Watchers have won as Tudor a Rolex.

01:10:48And I think that's – I mean, they live in their own light.

01:10:50Yeah.

01:10:50You can't compare them.

01:10:52Yeah.

01:10:52I love all those Rolex releases.

01:10:54Land Dweller was a massive hit, even from the traffic numbers we've seen on our website.

01:10:59Like, that watch has been popular amongst the audience.

01:11:01So, yeah, you can't compare the two.

01:11:04They're nice.

01:11:04They live in their own light now.
