00:00Activist Tamim Dahri Abdul Razak has surrendered to the police four months after leaving the country before he was due
00:08to be charged in court.
00:09According to Sinar Haryan, Negeri Sembilan Police Chief Al-Zafni Ahmad said Tamim surrendered at the Suramban Police Headquarters at
00:18about 12.45pm yesterday.
00:20He had spent more than four months in Thailand before returning to Malaysia through an illegal route at the Kelantan
00:27border.
00:27Tamim is expected to be taken to court today for a Riman application.
00:32Police are investigating him for criminal intimidation and offensive online content, as well as a video allegedly showing him desecrating
00:41a trishol, a sacred Hindu object.
00:44Tamim had claimed he was unaware that he had desecrated the object, saying he had mistaken it for a rusty
00:50piece of metal.
00:51He was initially scheduled to be charged at the Langkawi Magistrates' Court on March 17th under Section 295 of the
00:59Penal Code.
