00:00Let us take this horrific tragedy and use it as lessons learned.
00:06A springboarder to comfort, to confront loneliness
00:11and to provide a safe arena for men and women to express their fears, feelings without judgment.
00:20Perhaps we need to take it further and create a Nisha Roberts Women's Rescue Fund.
00:27Nisha was murdered by a man she knew.
00:30She was stabbed to death at the home she recently completed building
00:35along No. 1 Village Street, Mount St. George, Tobago.
00:39And she did nothing to deserve her body to be brutalized.
00:45It was her character, her helping, her caring spirit that was taken advantage of.
00:52It was her smile, her innocence that was manipulated.
00:58Pastor Richard Frederick, who delivered remarks on behalf of Chief Secretary Farley Augustine,
01:03said the deaths of Nisha and her mom shortly after were not only heartbreaking,
01:09but shook the entire fabric of Tobago.
01:13The tragic circumstances surrounding these deaths have shaken not only this family,
01:19but the entire community of Mount St. George and indeed all of Tobago.
01:27We mourn a life taken by violence.
01:31And we mourn a mother's heart that could bear no more.
01:37Together they leave behind a void that cannot be easily filled.
01:42May we honor their memories not only with our tears,
01:47but with a renewed commitment to building communities where love triumphs over violence,
01:54where families are protected, and where every life is valued.
