00:13In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, peace be with you.
00:18Today is the Feast of Saint Bonaventure.
00:21People often call him the second founder of the Franciscan Order.
00:26He was a theologian, a very holy man, a very bright man, a friend of Thomas Aquinas.
00:33And he certainly believed in the right place for theology and reason.
00:39But he also believed very strongly that the simple, through their prayer and love,
00:45can know even more than what our heads can attain and get to know.
00:51So we recognize our sins and hear the call to simplicity in our own lives,
00:56not to get complicated, and to recognize the forgiveness and the healing of God.
01:02Loving God, you forgive our sins. Lord, have mercy.
01:05You turn to good everything for those who love you. Christ, have mercy.
01:10You call us away from fear into love. Lord, have mercy.
01:14May Almighty God have mercy on us, forgive us our sins, and lead us into healing and life everlasting.
01:23Let us pray.
01:24Once we pray, Almighty God, that just as we celebrate the heavenly birthday of the Bishop Saint Bonaventure,
01:32we may benefit from his great learning and constantly imitate the ardor of his charity.
01:38Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
01:45God, forever and ever. Amen.
01:54A reading from the letter of Saint Paul to the Ephesians.
01:58This is what I pray, kneeling before the Father,
02:02from whom every family, whether spiritual or national, takes its name.
02:07Out of his infinite glory, may he give you the power through his spirit for your hidden self to grow
02:13strong,
02:13so that Christ may be in your hearts through faith.
02:17And then, planted in love and built on love,
02:20you will, with all the saints, have strength to grasp the breadth and the length,
02:25the height and the depth,
02:27until knowing the love of Christ, which is beyond our knowledge,
02:30you are filled with the utter fullness of God.
02:34The word of the Lord.
02:36Thanks be to God.
02:38Lord, teach me your decrees.
02:40Lord, teach me your decrees.
02:42How shall the young remain sinless by obeying your word?
02:46I have sought you with all my heart.
02:49Let me not stray from your commands.
02:52Lord, teach me your decrees.
02:54I treasure your promise in my heart,
02:57lest I sin against you.
02:59Lest are you, O Lord, teach me your statutes.
03:03Lord, teach me your decrees.
03:06Wash with my tongue I have recounted the deeds of your lips.
03:12I rejoice to be your will, as though all riches were mine.
03:16Lord, teach me your decrees.
03:19Alleluia, alleluia.
03:21You have one Father, your Father in heaven.
03:25You have one teacher, the Lord Jesus Christ.
03:28Alleluia.
03:33The Lord be with you.
03:35A reading from the Holy Gospel according to Matthew.
03:39Glory to you, O Lord.
03:42Jesus said to his disciples,
03:44You must not allow yourselves to be called Rabbi,
03:47since you have only one Master,
03:49and you are all brothers and sisters.
03:52You must call no one on earth your Father,
03:54since you have only one Father, and he is in heaven.
03:58Nor must you allow yourself to be called teachers,
04:01for you have only one Teacher, the Christ.
04:04The greatest among you must be your servant.
04:07Anyone who exalts himself will be humbled.
04:11Anyone who humbles themselves will be exalted.
04:15The Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ.
04:18Praise to you, O Lord Jesus Christ.
04:22Every fatherhood represents the fatherhood of God.
04:27Every teaching is about the teaching of the truths of God.
04:32If we have errors and pretenses about ourselves,
04:36we are prognising and remembering that everything comes from God,
04:39we are kidding ourselves.
04:42So we are reminded of truth of humility,
04:45which is about the most profound truths.
04:49And the way of love is about all other ways,
04:53about all other ways,
04:55and all needs to be subject to love.
05:01Blessed are you, Lord God of all creation.
05:03For to your goodness we have this bread to offer,
05:06which the earth has given human hands have made.
05:09It will become for us the bread of life.
05:12Blessed be God forever.
05:14Amen.
05:29Blessed are you, Lord God of all creation.
05:32For to your goodness we have this wine to offer.
05:34Fruit of divine work of human hands,
05:37it will become a spiritual drink.
05:39Blessed be God forever.
05:51Let us pray, brothers and sisters,
05:53that my sacrifice and yours may be acceptable to God,
05:56our Almighty Father.
05:58May the Lord accept the sacrifice at our hands.
06:00for the praise and glory of God's name,
06:03for our good and the good of God's holy church.
06:12May the sacrifice which we gladly present
06:14on the feast day of blessed for a venture
06:18be pleasing to you, O God.
06:20For taught by him,
06:22we too give ourselves entirely to you in praise.
06:25Through Christ our Lord.
06:28Amen.
06:28The Lord be with you.
06:31Lift up your hearts.
06:33Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.
06:36It is truly right and just,
06:39our duty and our salvation,
06:41always and everywhere to give you thanks.
06:43Lord, Holy Father, almighty and eternal God,
06:46through Christ our Lord.
06:48For as on the festival of St. Bonaventure
06:52you bid your church rejoice,
06:54so too you strengthen her
06:57by the example of his holy life.
06:59Teach her by his words of preaching
07:02and keep her safe in answer to his prayers.
07:05And so, with the company of angels and saints,
07:08we sing the hymn of your praise
07:10as without end we acclaim
07:12Holy, Holy, Holy Lord, God of hosts,
07:16heaven and earth are full of your glory.
07:19Hosanna in the highest.
07:21Blessed is he who comes
07:23in the name of the Lord.
07:25Hosanna in the highest.
07:28You are indeed holy, O Lord,
07:30the fount of all holiness.
07:32Make holy, therefore, these gifts, we pray,
07:34by sending down your Spirit upon them
07:37like the people,
07:38so they may become for us
07:40the body and blood of our Lord Jesus Christ.
07:42At the time he was betrayed
07:45and entered willingly into his passion,
07:48he took bread,
07:49and giving thanks, broke it
07:51and gave it to his disciples,
07:54saying,
07:55Take this, all of you,
07:56and eat of it,
07:58for this is my body
08:00which will be given up for you.
08:07In a similar way,
08:08when supper was ended,
08:10he took the chalice,
08:12and once more giving thanks,
08:14he gave it to his disciples,
08:16saying,
08:17Take this, all of you,
08:18and drink from it,
08:20for this is the chalice of my blood,
08:22the blood of the new
08:24and eternal covenant,
08:25which will be pulled out for you
08:28and for many
08:28for the forgiveness of sins.
08:32Do this in memory of me.
08:40The mystery of faith,
08:42when we eat this bread
08:43and drink this cup,
08:45we proclaim your death, O Lord,
08:47until you come again.
08:52Therefore, as we celebrate
08:54the memorial of his death
08:55and resurrection,
08:56we offer you, Lord,
08:57the bread of life
08:58and the chalice of salvation,
09:00giving thanks
09:01that you felt us worthy
09:02to be in your presence
09:04and minister to you.
09:06Humbly we pray
09:07that, partaking of the body
09:09and blood of Christ,
09:11we may be gathered into one
09:12by the Holy Spirit.
09:14Remember, Lord,
09:16your Church,
09:16spread throughout the world
09:17and bring her
09:18to the fullness of charity,
09:20together with Leo,
09:22our Pope,
09:23me, your unworthy servant,
09:24and all the clergy.
09:26Remember also
09:27our brothers and sisters
09:29who have fallen asleep
09:30in the hope of the resurrection
09:31and all who have died
09:33in your mercy.
09:34Welcome them
09:35into the light of your face.
09:38Have mercy on us all,
09:39we pray,
09:40that with the blessed Virgin Mary,
09:42Mother of God,
09:43blessed Joseph,
09:43her spouse,
09:44with the blessed Apostles,
09:46blessed Bonaventure,
09:48and all the saints
09:49who have pleased you
09:50throughout the ages,
09:51who may merit to be
09:52coerced to eternal life,
09:54and may praise and glorify you
09:56through your Son,
09:58Jesus Christ.
10:01through him
10:02and with him
10:02and in him
10:03of God Almighty,
10:04Father,
10:05in the unity
10:05of the Holy Spirit,
10:07all glory and honour
10:08is yours
10:09for ever and ever.
10:10Amen.
10:12At the Saviour's command
10:14and form a divine teaching,
10:16we dare to say,
10:17our Father,
10:18who art in heaven,
10:19hallowed be thy name,
10:21thy kingdom come,
10:22thy will be done
10:23on earth
10:24as it is in heaven.
10:25Give us this day
10:26our daily bread
10:27and forgive us
10:28our trespasses
10:29as we forgive those
10:31who trespass against us
10:33and lead us
10:34not into temptation
10:35but deliver us
10:36from evil.
10:37Deliver us, Lord,
10:38we pray,
10:39from every evil.
10:40Graciously grant peace
10:41in our days
10:42that by the help
10:43of your mercy
10:44we may be always
10:46free from sin
10:46and safe from all distress
10:48as we await
10:49the blessed hope
10:50and the coming
10:50of our Saviour,
10:51Jesus Christ.
10:53For the kingdom,
10:54the power,
10:54and the glory
10:55are yours
10:56now and forever.
10:57Lord Jesus Christ,
10:59who said to your apostles,
11:00peace I leave you,

11:19a sign of peace.

12:01that you should enter
12:01under my roof
12:02but only say the word
12:04and my soul
12:05shall be healed.
12:07My Jesus,
12:08I believe that you are present
12:10in the most blessed sacrament.
