00:00I'd just like to go back to that, the MOU, because it ties into how Iran has, how this has
00:04all played out from the point of view of the Islamic Republic and the regime in Tehran.
00:09Really, a month ago, when this Memorandum of Understanding or Memorandum of Misunderstanding was signed, about 30 days ago, the
00:17world was up in arms because it seemed like the Iranians had got every one of their desires fulfilled.
00:22And to me, to anybody kind of looking at it casually, say an alien coming down to earth, they would
00:29have assumed that the Iranians had defeated the United States.
00:33And these were the terms of the surrender. Almost every point was in favor of the U.S.
00:38But to seasoned Iran watchers like your fellow guests on the show here, I think we all kind of knew
00:46that there were so many tripwires.
00:47And it was inevitable that the Iranians would stumble over their own tripwires because they just cannot help themselves.
00:55We heard President Trump say, kind of in a very irritated tone, he said, the Iranians, they just break every
01:03deal.
01:04And I think President Trump has kind of come to that realization, perhaps a little bit belatedly.
01:09But most of us who study this were always of the impression that this kind of thing would happen.
01:13The latest issue, it seems to be that Trump has really had enough.
01:19The MOU has collapsed. The confidence building measures that, you know, those first the first part of the MOU, they
01:27have really they've been frazzled.
01:29They're fried. And that means the U.S. commitments that people were very upset about.
01:33They are contingent upon Iran fulfilling those things like the freedom of navigation in the straits and also no more
01:41no more interference in other certain sovereignty, no more hostility.
01:45So those three things have completely cratered.
01:48That means the U.S. commitments are stalled.
01:50And those other technical aspects are likewise, likewise, very unlikely to succeed.
01:56So Iran is really it's its own worst enemy.
01:59Ultimately, that is that is the bottom line.
