00:00Where the Cubs are now, it wasn't that long ago they were 37-37, a 500 team,
00:05and people were like, is this rock bottom?
00:07I think the answer is yes, that was rock bottom, and that's a good thing
00:10because now, as you mentioned, not only are they 12 games over 500.
00:13Marshall, we can't say that.
00:14With the injury bug on this team, you cannot put that into existence again.
00:19No, I'm going to, and here's why.
00:20Here's why.
00:21Because they've gotten a lot of players back.
00:23You know they're going to make some types of moves at the deadline,
00:26and I expect them to be much better and bigger than the moves they made last year.
00:30You hope them to, but the prospect, you don't have the same prospect bank you had last year.
00:37Yeah, and they didn't even move the prospects last year.
00:39They moved them for Cabrera in the offseason.
00:41Exactly.
00:42But what I'm saying is the Cubs are 20-8 since June 11th.
00:47That's the best record in baseball.
00:49And I know people who have been following this team all year are tired of the rollercoaster ride of ups
00:55and downs
00:55because they have been extreme, whether it's the multiple 10-game winning streaks,
00:59whether it was the 10-game losing streak, the 9-1 stretch that's a part of this 20-8 that
01:04we're talking about right now.
01:06But more importantly, you've got to go all the way back to May.
01:10That's a month and a half for the last time the Cubs were this close to the top of the
01:15division.
01:15They're only five games out.
01:17And if I told you while the Cubs were having one of those bad stretches,
01:21and they've had some bad stretches here in the first half,
01:23that at the All-Star break, they'd have the top wildcard spot
01:26and only be five games back of a Brewers team,
01:29which is suddenly starting to waffle a little bit,
01:32I think you'd sign up for that,
01:34given all the injuries that the Cubs have suffered in the first half.
01:37Yes and no.
01:39It's in the details.
01:40If the blind item resume says that's their record,
01:43I think at the beginning of the season,
01:45you would have still hoped that they were leading the division.
01:48Even with Kate Horton and Justin Steele?
01:50That's what I'm saying.
01:51At the beginning of the season...
01:52Oh, I'm talking about knowing what you know now.
01:54But my point is understanding what the details are, right?
01:59Understanding that you needed more out of Alex Bregman for, what, two months?
02:05That you didn't see it offensively?
02:08So you look at it and understand it's a good record.
02:13We know it's not best out of good, better, best, but it's better.
02:17And so far that that's a step that gives you encouragement.
