Haugh: It's 'disappointing' that Cubs haven't been more aggressive to address weaknesses

The Cubs blew another late lead Monday, losing 5-4 to the Giants to drop to 37-42.

00:00as you look at where the Cubs are and you look at how this is firing people up and is it a failure

00:09to, is the lack of a move of any kind, is that a failure on the part of Jed, of management,

00:22of ownership, is the fact that they have not addressed one of these issues, whether it is

00:30timely hitting or whether it's the bullpen and they have not done that yet and they're waiting

00:37and they're going to see and we don't know who's given up what, is that a problem for you or is

00:43that understandable? Well failure would be too strong because we're only mid-season and as bad

00:50as it has been, as bad as it is, they remain three games out of the final playoff spot in

00:57the wildcard. They can still back in, five teams out of them, they can still back in if they have

01:01a strong second half. I don't know if that's possible. I will say this, it's been disappointing

01:07that they haven't been more aggressive based on what they haven't been offensively and based on

01:12the 17 blown saves. You can't blame injuries on all of that inconsistency. You can't do,

01:19you can't ignore how bad they have been as a relief core. I think it's, as far as I would

01:27go with Jed Hoyer and or Carter Hawkins, they've made it easy to make them accountable for what

01:37happens next because they have yet to do anything or try anything. The sense of urgency is much,

01:43much greater outside their offices than it is within the boardroom there, the conference room

01:48and I think that's becoming a bigger problem. You're seeing and sensing frustration throughout

01:54the entire organization and I think that's eventually going to have to force their hand

01:58and do something. It might be too late, but there's still a half a season left.
