00:04Hope you're all ready to rumble, because I'm certainly not. Slamboree 2000 takes place in the Kemper Arena in Kansas
00:10City, just over 7000 are in the building, an abysmal 65000 are watching on pay per view which almost halves
00:16the number the company got for Spring Stampede, and in our main event we're going to see the three tiered
00:21steel cage that was featured in the ready to rumble movie.
00:23David Arquette won the world belt last week on Thunder, he wanted to vacate it on Nitro but the new
00:28blood wouldn't allow him to. Instead, David's been added to the main event match that was originally going to feature
00:33DDP and Jeff Jarrico on one on one, so we've now got a three way dance.
00:38We have a few other new blood vs millionaires club matches on this show, and some of them do look
00:43alright on paper, the new blood are already waiting in the locker room to get going while the millionaires club
00:47and a few others arrive via coach, so let's check out the show and let's see if anything good came
00:52from Slamboree 2000.
00:58The pay per view kicked off with Chris Candido vs The Artist, which makes you realise that the grand idea
01:03WCW had when signing Candido was to put him in a rivalry with the former Prince Iakea in Hope for
01:09the Best.
01:10I have absolutely no interest in seeing this rivalry play out, I've already watched these guys compete against each other
01:15enough times, and to top it all off, the action in the ring here was very sloppy.
01:20Not that I could do any better or anything, but after watching so many shows for this series for a
01:25second time, I can pretty much instantly point out when guys aren't on their A game, but hey, we all
01:31have bad days.
01:32The ending was also botched, Tommy hit Prince with a chair shot and he fell down for the cover, his
01:37kickout was extremely late and even after the referee's hand slapped him out for three and the bell had rung,
01:43Mickey J decided to wave it off and the match continued on.
01:46This was clearly supposed to be the intended finish, seeing as Tommy got in the ring when Candido's music played,
01:52so I've no idea what happened here.
01:54Whatever the case, it looked totally amateur and Candido ended up winning seconds later with a diving headbutt.
02:00Paisley and The Artist get revenge by hitting Candido with a low blow and ripping Tommy's dress off, but it
02:05was a pretty miserable opening match and I fear the tone's already been firmly established for this pay per view.
02:11I do hope I'm wrong though.
02:12Next up, the hardcore belt gets defended as Terry Funk takes on Norman Smiley in a mystery partner, and I'm
02:18sensing some deja vu when a bunch of idiots, including Doug Dillinger, grass on Norman by telling Terry his current
02:25location.
02:25The ever cunning Smiley had a plan though, he put his mystery partner in the restroom so he could attack
02:31Terry from behind, good job Smiley.
02:33And what follows here is your usual WCW hardcore match that in fairness had a few good little moments, most
02:40of which consisted of Norman taking bumps and screaming afterwards.
02:43The mystery partner hit his identity while trying to hurt Terry, his efforts were 100% futile because no matter
02:50what he did, Funk just took it like the hardcore legend he is.
02:53Eventually though, all three men make it out of the romp way and we finally see who the mystery man
02:58is, and oh hell yeah boy, it's Rolphus, the man who made Chris Dury go famous.
03:03Gonna be totally honest, this was the last person I expected, and well, with his massive good and his lack
03:10of anything that even remotely hints at athletic skill, he makes for a pretty useless partner.
03:16Norman drops a ladder on Terry's head, probably the best spot of the match, and after a chair shot, Terry
03:22falls in place for a big slamboree wiggle.
03:24Rolphus decided that he wanted a piece of that action, and yeah, can't imagine Rolphus doing much damage with all
03:31that excess in the way, you know, and I'm starting to feel a little sick.
03:35Rolphus takes a few chair shots, Norman goes to check on his new best friend, the timing's all over the
03:41place here as it seems Norman's just putting himself in position for chair shots while waiting to get hit, and
03:46it all ends with Terry rolling Norman up for a pinfall victory.
03:48Vince Russo wanted the hardcore belt within the new blood, that didn't happen tonight, but Norman doesn't care as he
03:54celebrates his loss alongside Rolphus and we see some dance moves that'll definitely make you lose your appetite. Sorry folks,
04:01but I think Norman Smiley and Terry Funk deserve better than this.
04:09David Arquette's arrived at the arena, and Mean Gene reminds him that he's in a very dangerous match tonight. David
04:15knows he's not a sports entertainer and he knows he's in trouble, and he tells Gene not to let his
04:20smile fool him, David's afraid. He should be afraid too after that fall he took on Thunder this past Wednesday.
04:26He ended up accidentally walking on a gimmick platform and he fell right through it, completely ruining a planned spot
04:32between Jeff Jarrett and DDP.
04:34Sean Stasiak's calling himself the perfect one, Kurt Hennig's taking exception to this, so the two are going to face
04:40each other tonight, and I like this girl's optimism right here. If David Arquette can be world champion then I'd
04:46like to thank Kurt Hennig's in with a shot too.
04:47So we've got this J-brown Stasiak acting like he's all perfect and acting like he can do no wrong,
04:53but I'm just not banning it guys. He does get the better of Kurt in the early going, but it
04:58doesn't take Hennig long to remind Stasiak who he's in the ring with. Don't look so perfect now, do you
05:03dipshit?
05:04Stasiak comes back with a running crossbody, he tries a sunset flip from the apron but Kurt kicks out, a
05:09shot to the midsection and an e-lift puts Hennig back in control, and we then see Chavo Guerrero, Lash
05:15LaRue and Van Hammer sitting at ringside. The misfits in action were fired on Nitro this past week and Scott
05:20Hudson says these guys had to pay to get into the building.
05:23On the outside, Kurt gets his head rocked off the commentary table, he then gets choked out before the two
05:28head back inside, Stasiak performs a top rope clothesline, and the two then head outside again where Kurt tries to
05:34body slam Sean on the elevated rampway. It's been years since WCW had an elevated ramp and it will come
05:41into play during our main event.
05:42Kurt's back gives out, he gets tossed back into the ring, we get a long ass sleeper hold as the
05:48two take a break, and the match resumes with Stasiak missing a top rope crossbody and Kurt performing a back
05:54body drop. It ends with the referee pulling Kurt out of the corner, Sean takes advantage with a miserable looking
05:59catapult, Stasiak then gets a clean pinfall win after a perfect plex which you shouldn't be surprised about seeing as
06:06the new blood have been booked very favourably since day one.
06:09So there you go, if Kurt Henney can't beat Sean Stasiak then does he really deserve to be world champion?
06:17Vince Russo's buzzing about Stasiak's win and he wants Scott to make it two in a row for the new
06:22blood. Scott tells Russo to never touch him again, and Steiner gets ready for his match against Hugh Morris.
06:28Yeah, the misfits in action were all fired but seeing as Morris attack Steiner on thunder, I guess he's been
06:33reinstated for the night. It doesn't make any sense.
06:36Hugh gets in the ring, he said the name Hugh Morris was given to him by Eric Bischoff as a
06:41way to poke fun, so from this point on, this mountain of a man wants to be known by his
06:45real name.
06:46Hugh. G. Rection. Or Captain Rection for short. Something tells me that's not his real name, and something tells me
06:54Hugh went from an Eric Bischoff name to a Vince Russo name.
06:57This US title match gets underway, Hugh gets wailed in the corner, but a failed hip toss from Big Papa
07:03Pump allows Mr. Rection here to pull off a clothesline. I'm gonna get demonetised aren't I?
07:08Scott goes outside to talk some trash to fans at ringside and he has a short meeting with Medesia and
07:13Shakira, the valets get on the apron which allows Scott to attack from behind, but the captain fights back and
07:18he pulls off a sweet looking jump kick.
07:20Hugh's confidence builds with a sidewalk slam followed by a big elbow drop, but he then goes upstairs again for
07:26the no laughing matter and Steiner's guards make sure Hugh doesn't pull off his finishing move.
07:31While hung up in the tree of woe, Hugh takes some damage from his opponent and Scott takes the time
07:35to jawjack the other misfit sitting in the audience.
07:38The match resumes with a Steiner line, an elbow drop and Scott getting annoyed at our super ginger referee, and
07:44the beatdown continues with a big exploder suplex from Big Papa Pump.
07:48Scott shows off after the move and his freaks have fun pulling Hugh's hair and smacking him across the face.
07:53Scott covers Hugh after a belly to belly and when he doesn't win the match, old ginger ref almost gets
07:59his head ripped off.
08:00Scott tells the official he sucks before going back to work on Hugh, and what follows is a long bear
08:05hug followed by an overhead belly to belly.
08:08More jaw jacking the crowd, more showing off and posing, Captain Rexion gets his predictable second wind and the audience
08:15do get behind him as he starts firing up,
08:17but another Steiner line puts Hugh in his place and this gets followed up with a double underhook power bomb
08:22from Big Papa Pump.
08:23Scott goes for a piledriver, Hugh counters it with a crowd pleasing piledriver of his own, and Hugh goes up
08:29for his moonsault again,
08:30which Mark Madden tells us has been renamed to the Raging Climax.
08:35If Hugh only changed his name before this match, then how did Mark know the new name of the finishing
08:40move?
08:41Scott was supposed to move out of the way, but he didn't move quick enough. It looks like a pretty
08:45nasty bump here, but Steiner still gets up before Hugh,
08:48and it's another win for the new blood, as Steiner recliner put Mr Erection away. The misfits in action try
08:54to help out their buddy,
08:55but the new blood security team, who's now been renamed to Russo and Bischoff security, stop Lash and company from
09:02getting in the ring.
09:03Booker T manages to get in though after running down the ramp, and he saves Hugh from taking any more
09:07damage.
09:08Scott Steiner vs Booker T is the match we're aiming towards, and I'm actually glad WCW didn't book that match
09:15at Slamboree. Let it build for a while and the payoff will be better, I hope.
09:23Chris Kenyon says he considers DDP a brother and Page taught him that you don't kiss other people's asses to
09:29make it in this business, you bust your own.
09:32That's why Kenyon isn't part of the new blood and that's why he's taking on Mike Awesome in our next
09:36match.
09:36Whoever dubbed the WWE Network version of this show needs fired because Mike comes out of the Revolutions old network
09:42dub.
09:43Both original WCW versions of Awesome and the Revolutions music do sound like the Beautiful People by Marilyn Manson, but
09:49they were also different from each other.
09:51This is one of the matches I was looking forward to on this pay per view, and it starts with
09:55Kenyon dodging a big boot and Awesome goes down after a clothesline.
09:59There's something going on in the crowd that totally takes the attention away from the ring, but the two end
10:03up on the outside following a back elbow from Awesome.
10:06The big man dives over the top rope and this move gets the crowd's attention back for sure.
10:10On the outside, Kenyon gets whipped into the guardrail and thrown into the ring steps, Chris turns it around by
10:16pushing Awesome into the ring post.
10:18While Mike's still wrapped around the post, Kenyon pulls off a baseball slide that destroys Mike's back, and we then
10:23see a somersault senton from Chris from the apron back to the outside.
10:27In the ring, Mike has the opportunity to pull off his top rope clothesline, we go straight back out when
10:32Mike hits his opponent with a steel chair but the referee lets it slide.
10:35At this point, it's total guesswork if WCW officials are going to disqualify wrestlers, so we shouldn't be surprised by
10:42this.
10:42Another chair shot knocks Champagne Kenyon into the crowd and Mike stays on top of things by punishing his opponent.
10:49Chris gets choked out when the two get back over the guardrail, and Mike performs a slingshot splash when getting
10:54back inside the ropes.
10:55We see two clotheslines from Awesome in the ring before we, you guessed it, head back to the outside.
11:01Mike's chair shot across Kenyon's back makes a loud cracking noise, but fuck this, I wanna see these guys fight
11:07in the ring.
11:08Luckily, Chris stops another chair shot and we do get back in the ring following a top rope neckbreaker, and
11:14a swinging neckbreaker from Kenyon may please the audience but it doesn't end the match.
11:18Chris keeps the pressure on with a fireman's carry slam, but when he goes for a powerbomb, Awesome pulls off
11:24an insane Alabama slam.
11:26The force of the move was absolutely ridiculous, and speaking of ridiculous, Luke at Awesome's powerbomb.
11:32You can see Mike looking pretty worried immediately after the move, and it's a small miracle that Kenyon got back
11:38to his feet.
11:39Mike exposes the floor while Kenyon regroups himself. Mike looks for an Awesome bomb onto the floor but he has
11:45to settle for a released German suplex when Kenyon counters.
11:48The two end up on the rampway, Awesome gets the opportunity to expose more of the flooring, and just when
11:53it looks like Kenyon's gonna get powerbombed off the ramp, the wolf packs music plays in the arena and now
11:58comes big sexy.
11:59Kevin Nash gets a fantastic pop here as he goes to work on Awesome. Unfortunately, the new blood decide to
12:06get in the ring to give Awesome a helping hand, but Kev's got some backup too.
12:09The millionaires club run down to even the odds and the crowd absolutely love it. R&B security run down
12:15too to help out the new blood, these guys get wiped out easily though they do allow the new blood
12:20to get out of the ring, and that's it over.
12:23This match had a few good moments, but it should have been filled with good moments. They took a lot
12:28of shortcuts unfortunately, but it's still the best match of the night so far.
12:36Vince Russo wants Elizabeth to sit beside him for our upcoming match, it's Lex Luger vs Buff Bagwell. He then
12:42decides Liz should change her outfit because she used to wear this dress when managing Luger, and Liz can't say
12:48no because Russo owns her contract.
12:50Lex vs Buff is a match we've seen on WCW pay-per-view before, and absolutely nothing's changed. The first
12:57few minutes of the match sees Bagwell posing at Luger and Buff getting all self-conscious when Lex poses back.
13:02Kinda sums up this whole new regime at WCW, doesn't it? Like there's a conscious effort to shake things up,
13:08but we haven't gotten anywhere.
13:10Buff takes the lead after getting overpowered in the corner, he chokes Luger out on the floor before giving Ginger
13:16referee a hard time, this guy's gonna need a drink or two after tonight's show.
13:20Buff performs a back elbow, he poses in the ring as the crowd boos, some chin abuse from Bagwell follows
13:26as the fans once again get distracted by something else going on in the arena, and Lex begins fighting back
13:31with a suplex, two inverted atomic drops, a few mounted punches, and a hard clothesline.
13:36The two go outside with Lex performing a double x-handle off the apron, Buff gets smacked around a little
13:42while let out on the floor, Bagwell gains the advantage back in the ring with a double arm DDT, and
13:47we're gonna go right down to the mat with a slamboree chin lock, someone had to do it.
13:52The two get up, they both go down after… whatever this was, Lex goes down again and he finds himself
13:58in a camel clutch, and my god this match has been bad so far, the previous encounters between these two
14:04weren't great either if I recall correctly.
14:06We go backstage where Liz pulls Russo down from his chair before hitting him with a baseball bat, kinda comedic
14:12seeing as Liz also hit Russo on Nitro with that same bat.
14:15She then walks down to the ring as Lex begins building his comeback with the bionic forearm and a powerslam,
14:20but Buff knocks package down and Miss Elizabeth gets in the ring.
14:24Buff takes the bat away, Lex takes a shot and Ginger referee isn't going to disqualify Buff because… legal reasons
14:31or something.
14:32But when Buff goes for the blockbuster, Mr Bagwell takes a shot from Liz and this allows Lex to put
14:37Buff away with a torture rack.
14:39The audience got into this one at the end so fair dues, but they get brought right back down to
14:44earth when Chuck Palumbo makes his WCW pay per view debut.
14:47He attacks Luger, he's also wearing Lex's main event fitness logo on his tights and Mark Madden makes the painfully
14:54obvious observation that Chuck Palumbo could be the new improved version of the total package.
15:00This does seem to be the case when Chuck puts Lex in the torture rack, so we now have a
15:04new Mr Perfect and possibly a new total package.
15:07It all ends with Buff bringing Elizabeth back up the ramp, so Russel's getting Liz back while Lex leaves empty
15:14handed.
15:18Shane Douglas says he's gonna retire Ric Flair once and for all. Shane's waited a very long time to face
15:24Ric and it's finally gonna happen in our next match.
15:27This vendetta's been seven years in the making, Shane has an opportunity to put Ric away for good. The two
15:33make their way to the ring with Shane telling the people that they're going to see Flair's last match.
15:38And now comes Ric Flair in his dress clothes because Slick Ric, the nature boy himself, felt self-conscious about
15:44his body.
15:45Ric says, in this town, where guys like Harley Race and Ric Flair worked hard to preserve the sport of
15:50pro wrestling, a dipshit like Shane Douglas has nothing to say.
15:54Flair says, tonight's just like 1981, Flair's gonna style and profile, and he's gonna, and I quote, kick Shane's ECW
16:02ass.
16:03Remember too, if Vince Russo interferes in this match, then Ric's gonna get five minutes all alone with WCW's new
16:09creative rider.
16:11The two lock up, Flair goes down first, Shane laughs at his opponent before the two lock up again, and
16:16this time Flair gets brought to the corner with ease.
16:19Shane owns Ric Flair right now, but I'm sure this won't last long.
16:22The third lock up sees Flair apply a hammer lock though he gets elbowed in the face, this gets followed
16:27up with a back body drop.
16:28Flair then delivers a back elbow from the corner, in the two trade chops with Neitch getting the better of
16:33his opponent.
16:34Ric goes upstairs, predictable results ensue, and Shane applies a figure 4 as the crowd boos.
16:40The franchise wants Flair to give up to his own move, but Slick Ric makes it to the ropes.
16:44Flair gets up, he delivers two hard chops before the franchise goes for another figure 4, the dirtiest player in
16:51the game lives up to his namesake with a poke to the eyes and a low blow, and we go
16:55outside where Ric lights Shane up.
16:57Flair talks a little smack to Mark Madden before Shane takes a few shots at the announce table.
17:02This whole exchange outside the ring was all about Flair dominating Shane but the moment the two get back in
17:07the ring, Flair gets dumped on the canvas with a hard suplex slam.
17:11Shane then uses a chain to punch Flair's lights out, he conceals the weapon again after using it and I
17:17really don't know why seeing as the referees not allow any silly shit to go down during WCW matches.
17:22This gets followed up with a vertical suplex but Flair's not out yet, so a frustrated Shane Douglas lays the
17:28punches in and Flair invites Douglas to keep going.
17:31Ric's gonna be hard to beat tonight it seems and he proves this by dishing out more chops to the
17:36franchise.
17:37More punches and chops get followed up with a knee drop right to Shane's bollocks, another low blow to Shane
17:42pleases the fans quite a lot and Flair softens up the knee before going for the figure 4.
17:47Shane's tag team partner Buff Bagwell then runs down to the ring but before he can make it, Ric gets
17:52attacked by someone in a Sting costume.
17:55The commentators believe it's Vince Russo, so that means, win or lose, Flair will get 5 minutes all alone with
18:01Vinny Rue after this match.
18:03It then ends immediately after a roll up from Shane Douglas and after the bell, Shane and Buff attack Flair
18:09while the fake Sting watches on.
18:11Flair takes a low blow before all three new blood members head out of the ring, but Ric grabs a
18:16microphone and he reminds these guys about the match stipulation.
18:19Russo owes him 5 minutes and Flair wants that 5 minutes right now.
18:24Lex Luger shows up, he takes out Shane and Buff before putting Russo in the ring, but that's not Vince
18:30Russo ladies and gents.
18:31Vince runs down to the ring moments later and the fake Sting hits Ric with a miniature statue of liberty.
18:37Because New York bro.
18:39So who's under the Sting mask?
18:41It's, it's, oh fucking hell.
18:44Surprise motherfucker, it's David Flair.
18:46Beating up his dad with his shitty hair.
18:49The nature boy is in the mud because David Flair joined the new blood.
18:53Pick up your shit, please leave and go.
18:55If you're gonna start hanging with Vince Russo, we just witnessed the mighty fall.
19:00And David still sucks big jumbo hairy balls.
19:11Vince Russo wants 5 minutes on the clock.
19:14The beatdown begins as Flair looks at his dirty stinking turncoat son, Russo chokes Flair out with his baseball bat
19:20before doing the DX crotch chop.
19:22And just as David begins using the baseball bat on his own father, the wolf packs music plays again and
19:27here he comes again.
19:28Kevin Nash is gonna get a piece of these two numbnuts and David gets sacrificed first.
19:34Russo surprisingly grows a pair and he takes his jacket off.
19:37He then gets easily taken out with a kick to the midsection but then, when Kev goes for the jackknife,
19:43Daphne hits him with a low blow.
19:45The new blood come out of this little deal on top with Russo laying in more bat shots while telling
19:50his enemies to suck it.
19:51So yeah, David Flair is now part of the new blood.
19:54He's turned his back on Daddy Flair once again, and the Millionaires Club look like jabronis as Slamboree moves on.
20:05We've got Vampiro vs Sting next and this rivalry, so far, has seemingly been without direction.
20:11It began with Vampiro destroying Sting and getting the better of Sting at every possible opportunity, but when it comes
20:17to one on one, standard singular combat between the two, Vampiro's been utterly useless.
20:22This is, of course, standard fare when it comes to a heel fighting a babyface, but the way the momentum
20:27swung in this rivalry is actually quite jarring.
20:30It's like one minute Vampiro looks like a million dollars, in the next he's treated like a jobber.
20:35Absolute domination from Sting in the early going, I like how the cameras captured Sting preparing for the fight by
20:41swinging his baseball bat, but in saying that, the bat's already been severely overused in this pay-per-view.
20:46The fight began on the rampway and Sting destroyed Vampiro, when the two make it to the ring, Sting performs
20:52a missile dropkick, Vamp heads back to the outside, Sting wipes his opponent out with a top rope crossbody,
20:57and we briefly go to the commentary table where Shivani invites Sting to put Vampiro through the wood, Sting says,
21:03You are not my fucking boss Tony, and we don't see a table bump. A low blow gives Vampiro the
21:09advantage back in the ring and the icon goes down after a hard chop.
21:13A diving clothesline keeps Sting at bay and then Vamp grabs a lead pipe from under the ring. Sting gets
21:18hit a few times as the commentators say the rules have been relaxed again tonight just like at Spring Stampede,
21:23so this just means do whatever you want and maybe the referee won't disqualify you.
21:28The two head back up the ramp and Sting takes a facebuster, Vampiro then pulls off a front spin kick
21:33before the action gets back inside the ropes,
21:35and then when Vampiro goes for a top rope hurricanrana, Sting performs a low blow and Vamp falls victim to
21:41a super power bomb.
21:42The stinger uses Vampiro's lead pipe to do some damage and that's it over folks. He performs two stinger splashes
21:49while using the lead pipe for extra damage on the second,
21:51and Sting then performs two scorpion death drops to put Vampiro away. See what I mean? Vampiro was treated like
21:58a nobody and Sting didn't even break a sweat here.
22:01Scott Hudson had the nerve to say this rivalry is far from over after Sting won in such a decisive,
22:07clear cut manner.
22:08And to just show everyone who was boss, Sting got back in the ring to give Vampiro one last shot.
22:13The feud is going to continue by the way, but now it feels pretty pointless.
22:22David Arquette's terrified backstage. He tells Mike Tanay he's afraid to compete tonight, and DDP tells David all he needs
22:29to do is stay out of Jarrett's way.
22:32If anyone tries to interfere then Arquette needs to head to the top of the cage and fend people off.
22:37Dallas tells David not to grab the belt, David says don't worry because he doesn't want it, and that really
22:43should have been a red flag right there.
22:44Next up we've got Hulk Hogan vs Billy Kidman, and Kidman says with Eric Bischoff wearing the referee shirt, he
22:50really can't lose. Eric says he's gonna call it right down the middle, and he also says Kidman has nothing
22:56to worry about. Kidman says he's already proved that Hogan is not immortal, Billy's not lying by the way.
23:02So Eric comes out of the ring with Kimberly, Billy comes out of the ring with Tory Wilson, and Billy
23:07makes fun of Hogan when he gets inside the ropes.
23:09Hulk Hogan comes out and his nephew Horace is gonna back him up. Both men have FUNB on their backs,
23:16which we all know stands for fist in your nan's bunghole, but Horace won't be doing any of that soon
23:21as Eric sends him back up the ramp after the entrances.
23:23Kidman laughs at Hogan, the Hulkster gives chase, Billy gets the upper hand after getting in the ring first, but
23:29he's quickly put down with a chokesla… no, a body sla… no.
23:34Kidman tries a small package that looks like it was performed underwater and Billy then tries a crucifix pin. Again,
23:41we're in slow motion here, but Kidman gets set on the top rope and Hogan performs a clothesline. Not a
23:46great start here, Hulkamaniacs.
23:47Kidman gets put in the ring and Hogan grabs a chair, Billy gets dropped on that chair, and credit where
23:53it's due, this looked pretty sore. Young Billy gets a boot up in the corner and we see the Hulkster
23:58take a hurricanrana, we don't see that too often, but it doesn't really matter because we go straight back to
24:03the outside where Wood from the Hood goes right back in control.
24:06After taking a few bumps, Kidman uses Tory as a shield, this plan works and Hogan takes a forearm shot,
24:12but again it doesn't matter because Hogan shakes it off and he starts lighting Kidman up when the two get
24:16in the ring.
24:17Basic match psychology and logic just doesn't exist during these WCW 2000 Hulk Hogan matches.
24:24Out comes the weight belt, saw that coming a mile off, and after Kidman takes a few shots, Bischoff decides
24:29to take the belt away from Hogan. I would say this is good officiating, but weren't the rules supposed to
24:34be relaxed?
24:35Kidman smacks Hogan from behind, Bischoff then hands him the belt, Hogan takes a few shots, but it's Kidman who
24:41gets dumped on the outside as the crowd chant Hogan's name.
24:43More brawling on the outside keeps Hogan in the driver's seat, but when Hulk goes for a cover, Eric refuses
24:49to count. Hulk tries again after a back suplex, Eric just walks around while thinking about what he's going to
24:55have for dinner, and when confronted by Hulk, Eric says he didn't see the cover, giving Nick Patrick a run
25:00for his money right here easy.
25:02After another pointless brawl on the outside, the two get in the ring where Hogan no-sells Kidman's offence. This
25:08gets followed up with a big boot as a fan tries to rip his shirt just like Hulk but he
25:12doesn't have the strength, brother.
25:14And when Eric Bischoff makes sure that Hulk doesn't perform the big leg drop, easy he ends up getting punched
25:19in the face. We do see the leg drop, Hogan follows up with mounted punches as the crowd count along,
25:25Eric comes back in with a steel chair but that was a mistake, brother.
25:28Hogan takes the chair away, Eric and Kidman take shots across the back, and Hulk then goes out to grab
25:34a table from underneath the ring. No, make that two tables.
25:37He goes to powerbomb Bischoff but Kidman saves Eric by hitting Hulk with a chair. A slow cover and slow
25:43count from Eric allows Hulk to kick out, Bischoff holds Hulk in place for a chair shot but this backfires,
25:49and the crowd goes absolutely nuts when Bischoff gets put through the table with a powerbomb.
25:54Hulk grabs another table from under the ring seeing as he broke one of the other ones when setting it
25:59up, but it's Hollywood who ends up on top of it. Kidman goes for a big splash but Hulk moves
26:04out of the way. Our match ends with Hogan covering Kidman, and Horace comes down to grab Eric's hand in
26:10order to make the three count.
26:11The audience most definitely had fun with this one, as far as WCW Hogan matches go Hulk did put in
26:18a bit more work here, but the flow of the match was all over the place and even after feuding
26:22for the past few weeks,
26:24these two are just incompatible with each other.
26:31Vince Russo's trying to escape the arena alongside Liz, the dumbass heads to the Millionaires Club's bus and Lex is
26:37there waiting for him. So Liz goes inside the bus while Vince runs away to a conveniently parked rental car,
26:43Kevin Nash watches all this go down while sipping on a Diet Coke.
26:46Next, we've got our main event, the ready to rumble 3 tiered cage world championship match, champion David Arquette defending
26:53against DDP and Jeff Jarrett.
26:55Double J calls Mean Gene a geriatric slapass, he calls David Arquette a 150 pound turd, and he says DDP
27:03and Arquette are going to floss with the chosen one's shoelaces when this match is over.
27:07Michael Buffer introduces the triple cage and yeah, that thing looks insane. I know we all like a good ole
27:13laugh at WCW in 2000 in the decision to put the belt on Arquette, but I still really like this
27:19cage.
27:20The ground level is your standard cage, the second level is a hardcore cage, and the third cage has guitars
27:26in it. The world championship hangs above the top level and whoever grabs the belt first will become the new
27:31champion.
27:32Double J comes out first, David then shows up looking like Elvis, and DDP's out last is the big fan
27:38favourite of this bout. All the men are in the bottom cage, the bell rings, let's see what happened in
27:44the Slamboree main event.
27:50Arquette shits a brick and runs away from Double J. Fortunately, DDP's right there to save his Hollywood buddy, and
27:57Shivani says David needs to make himself a non-factor in this match.
28:01Page goes down after a DDT, Double J chases David again, this backfires when Page delivers a clothesline, and Dallas
28:08looks good after another clothesline followed by a uranage.
28:12That absolute weapon, David Arquette then goes upstairs for a splash, but this doesn't work out quite so well. Dallas
28:18is able to stay on Jared, but when he tries to bring a ladder into the ring, Double J performs
28:22a baseball slide.
28:24Madden says great, now those ribs are going to be taped up for 7 months again, and gotta say, this
28:29popped me a little.
28:30Page throws Jared into the cage, but Arquette was in the way, David goes down and this gives Page and
28:36Jared a little more time to work against each other.
28:38David again gets hit inadvertently when DDP ducks a clothesline, so Arquette's really struggling to stay out of harm's way.
28:45The ladder gets brought into the ring and it's going to take a little time before someone makes it to
28:49the second level.
28:50Jared gets busted open here when the fight goes to the outside again, but he stops Page from going up
28:55the ladder with a back suplex while Jeff ends up taking a powerbomb.
28:58The two then throw each other into the ladder before Jared brings in another, and after dropping the new ladder
29:04on top of Page, another effort's made by both men to get to the second level.
29:08Dallas holds onto the ceiling and he manages to kick the ladder over, Jeff falls to the elevated rampway, and
29:14finally DDP makes it the cage too.
29:16We see weapons have been placed all around the cage, but the cage door is also closed, so Page grabs
29:22some bolt cutters and he opens the door right away, but Jared goes on offense.
29:27Shivani remarks how unstable the cage floor looks as Dallas takes a chair shot, a chair shot that busted DDP
29:32open.
29:33Jared tries to make it to the third cage, but Dallas stops him from doing so, so the two head
29:38back into the second cage and they share a bunch of weapon shots.
29:41David Arquette can do nothing but look on as things get a little violent, and there's a legit holy shit
29:47moment when the cage panel breaks open and both men fall out.
29:50This was definitely gimmicked by the way, seeing as Dallas threw all his weight into it too along with Jeff.
29:56Page manages to set up a table on the shaky cage floor and Jared gets slammed through it, then the
30:02two finally leave the cage where neither man gets the upper hand.
30:06You know, come to think of it, I'm convinced that people would call this much good if it wasn't for
30:11the inclusion of David Arquette.
30:13Speaking of David, he finally decides to join in and he begins climbing up to cage 2.
30:18Mike Awesome then shows up as David follows DDP's orders and he heads up to the very top of cage
30:233.
30:24It looks like David's holding the forward as Awesome takes a diamond cutter, and now it's a race between DDP
30:29and Jeff as they both try to get into the guitar room.
30:32Both guys miss guitar shots but Page gets the opportunity to hand an acoustic equaliser to his little buddy David
30:38Arquette.
30:39Jeff performs a low blow on DDP but Page still manages to get up and the race continues.
30:44That little bastard David Arquette decides to hit DDP with a guitar shot, it's a swerve bro.
30:50And that's it all over folks. David and Jeff share a hug, the chosen one grabs the world belt, so
30:56David screwed DDP over and David's now a member of the new blood.
31:00The show isn't over just yet, Mike Awesome wants to awesomebomb DDP off the cage, fortunately he gets saved by
31:07Chris Kenyon but unfortunately for Kenyon, he ends up getting thrown off the cage.
31:12The commentators are seriously worried about Chris's wellbeing as the show fades out.
31:23As mentioned, I think if David Arquette was taken out of the main event and the finish was rewritten, people
31:28may look back at the triple cage match a bit more fondly.
31:31There were some good moments here, and the competitors showed absolutely no fear when fighting their way up to the
31:36world belt.
31:37The finish was a letdown for sure, but seeing as Kenyon was one of the guys we saw just before
31:42the show faded out, I'd like to think that Chris is in for some sort of push on TV.
31:46Wishful thinking, I know.
31:48Not as good as Spring Stampede in my opinion, but you can do worse for WCW pay-per-views in
31:53the year 2000.
31:54Slamboree is still not recommended though and I was losing the will to live a little by the time we
31:59reached Douglas vs Flair,
32:00but props for at least making the show coherent and not overbooked with a million promos and cutaways.
32:06The lack of decisive finishes and all the interference make it a bit of a joke to be honest, but
32:10sure, expect no less from WCW in the year 2000.
32:15Thank you for spending the time to watch this video because I certainly wouldn't have watched this pay-per-view
32:20again if it wasn't for you guys.
32:22I'll see you all on Thursday for reliving the war and as always, please take care.
