00:00I'm going to probably go in.
00:03I'm going to go all Yankee fan here on you.
00:05And I want you to help me out on Aaron Boone and Brian Cashman,
00:10the general manager of the team.
00:12I mean, it's been over a decade.
00:15I mean, how was that guy still the general manager?
00:18And how is Aaron Boone still the manager of the New York Yankees?
00:22God rest the soul of George Steinbrenner,
00:24who I knew very well when he lived in Tampa.
00:27I got to tell you, Rob, I mean,
00:30I think sometimes these extra wild card rounds,
00:33I think they kind of cloud Yankee fans judgment.
00:37Well, we win.
00:38Not really.
00:39You know, it used to be where they hung, you know,
00:42World Series pennants, not just American League East pennants.
00:46How come the standard has dropped there in New York?
00:50And it just seems to be business as usual.
00:53Hey, we'll win 90 plus games.
00:55Hey, we'll get knocked out.
00:57But in a, in a, in a, in a playoff series,
00:59hey, we'll make it to the series, but not be good enough.
01:03How does he keep his job?
01:06It's a great question.
01:07And I don't have a great answer for you, honestly,
01:09because the, yeah, the Yankees play bad, bad baseball.
01:12When you watch this team game by game,
01:14they live and die by hitting short porch home runs.
01:18It's kind of what it feels like.
01:19And if they're not hitting those home runs on a given day,
01:22it doesn't matter if Max Freed, Garrett Cole,
01:24Will Warren, whoever else is on the mound,
01:27goes out there and shoves.
01:28They're just not scoring runs.
01:29They can't play small ball.
01:31They don't look energetic.
01:32They, when you're watching the rays and the Yankees in terms of just kind of
01:36that series in a, in a vacuum, it felt like it was,
01:39you're watching two different just organizations and their approaches
01:43because one team was, was trying to steal bags.
01:46The other team didn't even have a guy who could run to first base.
01:49So that's ultimately when I watched the Yankees in the Padres, for example,
01:53I feel the exact same way.
01:55A lot of, you know, investment in free agents.
01:57That's the approach, right?
01:58Trade away all the prospects, go out and acquire the big names,
02:01get the draw.
02:02That's going to make Yankees fans excited for that little moment in the
02:05off season or at the trade deadline,
02:07but it's not really conducive to playoff success or just being a winning
02:11baseball team.
02:13That's kind of where I feel like the Yankees are right now is, Hey,
02:15we want to make the headline in the moment,
02:17but not really kind of win long-term.
02:20And they're kind of stuck in that purgatory position right now.
