00:00Assassin's Creed Black Flag Re-Sync is a fateful remake, but far from smooth sailing.
00:05While Black Flag Re-Sync is incredibly pretty, the geometry of most areas is very similar
00:10to the original if not one to one.
00:12It's neat to feel the muscle memory return, but it does create a discordance between the
00:16stunning high fidelity graphics that feel like a rapper over the scripted environments
00:20of the original.
00:22The game has terrific voice acting across the board, the pirate atmosphere remains solid,
00:26and protagonist Edward Kenway is still a true Ezio rival.
00:30But maps can feel a bit small, the cut content is disappointing, and the overall experience
00:36feels caught between updating and being faithful to the original.
00:39In short, Re-Sync both changes too much and not enough.
00:43There are enough decent improvements here that I'd still recommend it to a lot of players
00:47interested in a pirate adventure, but I also think, moment to moment, the original game
00:52remains enjoyable and has better combat and more interesting challenges, leaving me in
00:57that tricky position of having no firm favourite.
