00:00I got to play Assassin's Creed 4 Black Flag Re-Synced at a Ubisoft preview event, and guys, they really
00:06cooked.
00:06Whether you're looking to revisit this game as somebody who played the original, or somebody coming in for the first
00:11time,
00:12you're in for something really special.
00:14Here's four things I liked, and one thing that was a bit of a question mark.
00:17First, graphics.
00:19Beautiful visuals, it looked like it was 4K 60fps.
00:22The islands really stood out and were super vibrant, lots of detail,
00:25and you can tell they put a lot of love into making this remake feel like the original,
00:29while having the types of graphics that we're used to seeing now with modern titles.
00:33Two, revamped naval combat.
00:35The naval combat this time around, it's just like you remember it, but they're adding more weapons.
00:39There's a little more variety in what you can do, the different types of crew members that you can add
00:42on,
00:43and it just gives you more stuff to upgrade, more tactical decisions to be made,
00:46and it makes those naval ship battles feel just a little more intense, which is great.
00:51Three, the new stealth mechanics.
00:53The fact that you can manually crouch is huge.
00:56It makes sneaking around so much easier,
00:58and if you really want to go in silent, you have full control over what you do and when it
01:02begins.
01:03And number four, no more modern day segments.
01:06There is no random stop to go to modern day and see whatever the heck is going on over there.
01:10That's not what we want to do.
01:12We want to play as Edward Kenway, roam the high seas, be a pirate.
01:15And instead of those modern day gameplay settings,
01:16you get to dive a little more into Edward Kenway's backstory with brand new content.
01:20And here's the one question mark that I had.
01:23The combat.
01:23It's great because it still is like the original,
01:26where you don't really have those upgraded moves or finishers like you did.
01:29What they did was they tweaked the enemies to be a little more intelligent with how they fight you,
01:33so you can't just spam moves.
01:35It worked well in the preview, but I wonder long-term playing the game
01:38if it's going to be something where it feels still sort of repetitive,
01:41and like there's not really that much of a tactical advantage to the type of combat that you get in.
