00:03capturing the emotions of the original game as it is the facts of it.
00:12I went to go play Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced and Resynced really has recreated the
00:18best Assassin's Creed game just as I remembered it. Before I sat down to play Black Flag,
00:23Ubisoft highlighted everything that it upgraded in the game. Combat is totally reworked with much
00:28punchier animations and perfect parries and dodges. Loading between cities and the open ocean,
00:34all that's gone. It's all just seamless now. The weather is dynamic, pirate turned assassin Edward
00:39Kenway has a crouch button, and you better believe that lighting is ray traced now.
00:45But it still felt intimately familiar as soon as I stepped aboard the Jackdaw,
00:50or went parkouring across a lush island even though there's some new parkour controls,
00:54or climbing into the crook of a Y-shaped tree that more or less looks the same as it did
00:59more than
00:59a decade ago. So that subsequent decade of tinkering or bloat, if we're being less generous,
01:05leaves Resynced feeling strangely like both a throwback and kind of a nice fresh palette cleanser.
01:12Ubisoft has only made it more like an RPG in some really teensy ways, like the equipment screen
01:18kind of pulls from Assassin's Creed shadows with more outfit choices, and there's now a dedicated button
01:23for manually raising or lowering that assassin's cowl. So yeah, you're really role-playing there.
01:28And I think Black Flag Resynced really did recapture the exact game I remembered in my mind's eye,
01:34only yeah, a lot of it's better now. Honestly, as far as pirate games go,
01:38Black Flag, over a decade on, is still waiting to be bettered.
