00:00The Kanga High Court today struck out a lawsuit by three former past assemblymen over the loss of their Perles
00:07State Seats.
00:08Justice Abbas Zafri Abbas ruled that Perles Assembly Speaker Rousseli Ezan's decision could not be challenged in court.
00:16The court said Article 7-2 sub-1 of the Federal Constitution shields the Speaker's actions in the State Assembly
00:23from scrutiny.
00:24It also ruled that Rousseli had lawfully exercised his powers under the Perles Constitution when declaring the seats vacant.
00:33The three assemblymen lost their seats last December after past terminated their memberships, following their withdrawal of support for then
00:41-Mentri Besar Shukri Ramli.
00:43They filed the suit in January, contending that the Speaker's decision was unlawful, but the court struck out the case
00:50with no order as to cost.
00:52They have 30 days to file their appeal.
