00:00I mean, while the team in their division, the Blue Jays, I don't know, Tom, I'm starting to
00:03think they're never going to get it together. I mean, we're talking about a lot of data here,
00:07almost 90 games. It just doesn't feel like this is their year. And that jinx that you bet a lot
00:13of teams have after losing the World Series appears to have hit the Blue Jays here. Not
00:18scoring runs a lot. Saturday, nothing. Friday, two. Tuesday, nothing. Monday, two. I mean,
00:26this offense has just been dreadful. Their pitching's been okay. It hasn't been horrible.
00:30Cease has been good. Savage has been good. But eventually, you just got to call it what it is.
00:35The Blue Jays have kind of been this team the last few years, as opposed to last year. And I
00:40just wonder if last year was a little bit of an anomaly. It's a great question. The hitting,
00:47I always had hopes the hitting would turn around. And I said, okay, you know, you come into the
00:51season and you're waiting for Bieber to get back. How much can we put into Scherzer?
00:56We weren't sure at the time if Jose Barrios was going to pitch. I'd say, okay, could they tread
01:00water until they get these pitchers back? And then they'll look somewhat good. I think the
01:03pitching, to your point, they look fine. The hitting, far more inconsistent than we ever
01:08imagined. You know, I never expected Vlade to be on pace for, what, 10 home runs for the entire
01:13season where he was on pace for at this point. I never expected that. You know, George Springer's
01:17been in and out of the lineup. So I think there's just, there's too much to overcome for a team
01:22that has too many holes. And maybe it's the, the hangover from last year. I think there's just too
01:28much to overcome at this point. Yeah. I don't know. It just doesn't look like a post-season team
01:33to me. Meanwhile, the A's have flipped the switch. They're going completely the other way. And it's
01:38been one story that's been more obvious than others. It's been the losing and it's been the
01:44starting pitching. The A's, by the way, have now lost virtually every game this week, Monday,
01:50Tuesday, Friday, and last night. I know Saturday, yesterday, they lost seven to two against Miami.
01:57Just want to make sure I clarify that because I was watching that game. They're giving up a ton of
02:02runs. They can't pitch at all, Tom. I know it's going to be tough at altitude and they've been
02:06getting through with hitting the ball as well as they have. But if they don't get some decent
02:10starting pitching, this A's team is going to end up completely falling flat in the second half.
02:16I said this at the beginning of the year. I said, I like the A's. I think their lineup is
02:19super fun.
02:20They have a ton of power. They have some young hitters. And when you look at Hurts and Soderstrom
02:24and Langoliers, and obviously, you know, at the time, Brent Brooker, when we're previewing the season,
02:28I know he's done for the year now, but I said they were going to win games nine to seven
02:32and they're
02:32going to lose games nine to seven. That's just what it is. It's the nature of their lineups,
02:36the nature of the park that they're dealing with. They have great hitters. And when you have some guy,
02:40you know, like Nick Kurtz on the team, they can hit two home runs a game. You're going to score
02:44a lot, but you're also going to give up a lot. So until you have some stability with the pitching,
02:49we're always going to be in for the extreme outcomes of games. And it's never going to be
02:53a stable team to ever consider that. Say, hey, they could go far, but I don't really think so.
03:00Yeah, I think Tom really to encapsulate their season two, now that I've watched a couple of games
03:07live when the Marlins have played them in Sacramento is I think they can go through
03:11this another year in Sacramento. And by the way, the crowds have been fantastic. They're getting
03:15a lot of people showing up for these games and that's great too. But Tom, you know, if we're,
03:20and I don't know what Vegas is going to play like, and I don't know what that park is going
03:23to play
03:24like. And clearly the dome will be closed a lot. And I don't know how that will affect one thing
03:28or
03:28another. I could just tell you that there's, there's no data that supports anything with open or closed
03:33at any of these stadiums. It just doesn't happen. And they've done studies is I am concerned that
03:38the A's could be headed down a road like the Rockies where they, you just may not be able to
03:45pitch. And I know that they're saying that that's going to be okay, but the Rockies Tom have never
03:50been able to pitch. And outside of signing these guys like Michael Lorenzen to one year deals for
03:55people who just want to cash out at the end of their careers, I don't know how they're going to
03:58get
03:58pitchers to want to play there through free agency. That's the real question. The new stadium's
04:03great. New direction for the organization is great, but not being able to attract free agents,
04:08quality free agents, that could be the issue.
