Red Wings on the verge of their first free agent signing.
Transcript
00:00Emily Kaplan is saying that the Red Wings are signing Victor Arvidsson
00:05to a two-year contract.
00:08Victor Arvidsson is a forward, was with Boston last year.
00:13He's 33 years old, 5'10", 180 pounds.
00:20Had 54 points last year in 69 games with Boston.
00:2425 goals.
00:25So 25 goals, 29 assists in 69 games.
00:30While playing less than 15 minutes a game.
00:32He's a guy who scored 30 goals in a year twice.
00:36What's his name?
00:37Victor Arvidsson, Swedish player.
00:39I was going to say Bosnian or Icelandic?
00:42Swedish.
00:43Okay.
00:44He scored 30 goals twice, but not since 2019 when he had 34 in 58 games with Nashville.
00:52So, interesting.
00:56You know, coming off a good season, but is this going to, I'd love to see, I don't know
01:00what the money is on this yet, but love to see what it is.
01:04Is this simply just the next David Perron, JT Comfer kind of?
01:09Somebody on Twitch probably summed up, yeah, well, Bear Slay says the wings just went from
01:1583 points to 84 points.
01:18Well, a couple years ago, it would have been a difference, right?
01:22Yeah, but that means nothing.
01:27Look, could be a player helps them win.
01:28They got, it's one of those deals where you're only mad if they don't do anything big.
01:35Right.
01:36David Pignata just said 11 minutes ago, he says, as mentioned live on the air, it sounds
01:42like Detroit and Arvidsson are inching to the same, to a deal, same with Zuccarello
01:47in Los Angeles.
01:47I thought it was the same deal.
01:49Zuccarello signed a one-year deal for a million dollars.
01:53I don't know what this deal is going to be for, but I hope it's, obviously we hope it's
01:58not that costly for them.
02:00No, you wouldn't think it is.
02:02All right, just a quick follow-up here from a Piston Insider.
02:06If you haven't been following what's gone down this morning, the Pistons did perhaps come
02:12closer to getting Jalen Duren back as two teams that, one was in the Duren sweepstakes, one
02:16was maybe tangentially involved, was Duren sweepstakes adjacent.
02:21First, the Lakers went out and got Walker Kessler, so they don't need a center anymore.
02:26The Celtics have kind of been rumored to maybe be on the fringe of getting involved here.
02:31They went out and signed Mitchell Robinson from the Knicks, so they don't need a center.
02:36And then there's this from Amari Sankofo, who in responding to a tweet, a question said,
02:42the Pistons are not interested in a trade, including with the Kings.
02:46Nothing's changed.
02:48The likelihood of Duren coming back, let's be clear.
02:50We all thought he was coming back on this show, even in the heat of all the West Coast
02:55touring he was going to do and the sign-and-trade offers and what they could entail.
02:59We all thought it's probably not going to happen.
03:03But, you know, you kind of got to talk about it.
03:07Now, today, I think the conviction is even stronger that he's coming back.
03:10Is that a fair assessment?
03:12I think so.
03:14Let me clarify something, because now the reporting is that the Red Wings are targeting
03:18Victor Arvidsson on the two-year contract per Emily Kaplan.
03:22Okay.
03:22So that's different.
03:23No, that's good.
03:24Are you ready for another edition?
03:26Are you going to eat that?
03:27Yeah, I'm hungry.
03:27Let's go.
03:30Always hungry.
03:31Yeah, well, I know.
03:32I got some stuff here maybe you can eat.
03:34Well, I'm excited about it.
03:35Yeah.
03:35Good.
03:37Good.
04:05All right, here we go, Gator.
04:06I got some new items, and I can always count on
04:08our friends at Mountain Dew.
04:13Mountain Dew is commemorating the 7-Eleven Slurpee's 60th anniversary with a chill new
04:19flavor.
04:20For a limited time, you'll be able to get the Mountain Dew Confetti Chill Slurpee.
04:28According to a press release, inspired by birthday cake with a citrusy twist, the beverage blends bright
04:37citrus flavors with notes of sweet vanilla ice cream, giving fans a zesty lemon cake
04:45in treat form.
04:48Gator, the limited edition Mountain Dew Confetti Chill Slurpee.
04:53Are you going to eat that?
04:55So it's a Slurpee.
04:57Yes, but it's like a birthday cake, citrusy Slurpee.
04:59I'll try it.
05:00I mean, I haven't had a Slurpee.
05:01I can't tell you the last time I had a Slurpee, but I used to love 7-Eleven Slurpees.
05:06I would try this flavor.
05:08I mean, they're all sugar, so I mean, if you like one, you're going to want to try another
05:11one.
05:11This is a flavor.
05:12You talk about lemon cake?
05:13Yeah, I'm done with that.
05:15Kang, you?
05:16Yeah, man.
05:16I actually, I really loved them like in high school and through like college, but then
05:21after I took a pretty long break, but then I had kids, and now I'm back.
05:25So I might as well try this new Confetti Chill, and I like Mountain Dew.
05:29So yeah, it's actually the lemon chill.
05:32That sounds great.
05:32I've stated for a while that I'm not a fan of birthday cake flavor, like that whole
05:38concept, and to mix it with lemon sounds terrible to me.
05:42You don't like birthday cake, is that what you're saying?
05:44Do you like lemonade?
05:45No, I think that things that are flavored like birthday cake, like when you get birthday
05:49cake flavored ice cream or birthday cake Pop-Tarts, I'm just never down with that.
05:54They're not as good as you would expect.
05:55I like actual birthday, I mean, I love birthday cake.
05:58I don't hate birthday cake.
05:59How do you feel about lemonade?
06:01I like lemonade.
06:02But this doesn't appeal to me.
06:03Oh, God, no.
06:05Vanilla and lemon doesn't sound good to me at all.
06:07Oh, lemon sounds amazing.
06:08Yeah, it's a good combo.
06:09It's a great combo.
06:10I think it sounds nasty.
06:11But next up, Gator, popular Arby's side is getting a freezer aisle version.
06:17Arby's potato cakes are heading to major stores in frozen form.
06:21The account shared an image of a 27-ounce bag of Arby's frozen potato cakes, which look
06:28like the same crispy shredded potato patties.
06:30Fans have been enjoying in the store for years, Gator, the Arby's potato cakes, available in
06:36your grocer's freezer.
06:38Are you going to eat that?
06:39Yeah, I think so.
06:40Those are delicious.
06:41And I imagine it's an air fryer thing you can do.
06:43Oh, yeah.
06:44Yeah.
06:44I mean, air fryer.
06:45Air fryer makes everything better.
06:47So, yeah.
06:48I wouldn't mind trying this at all.
06:50Can you in?
06:51Yeah.
06:51So, I generally just get the curly fries whenever I go to Arby's, but I love a good potato cake.
06:56And my kids are really into hash browns for breakfast.
06:59It's basically like a hash brown.
07:00Yeah.
07:00So, yeah, I'm definitely in.
07:01I love all things potato, though, man.
07:03I'm a potato whore.
07:04I love potatoes.
07:05Yeah.
07:05I think if I was going to do this-
07:06Are potatoes from Bosnia?
07:07I think I would just go to curly fries.
07:09I need to get an air fryer, though.
07:11Yeah, you do.
07:12I know you do.
07:12It's a healthier version, too.
07:14I know, I know.
07:15It's healthy, dog.
07:15I haven't done it, but I would go-
07:16Dude, there's air fryer with extra protein now.
07:19Sweet.
07:21Next up.
07:26Aldi has released an interesting product.
07:30Aldi's crystal clear ice cubes.
07:36These are crystal clear frozen ice cubes.
07:40They're scheduled to be available starting today.
07:43It's ice in a box.
07:44To be specific, it's a 1.8-inch-wide clear cube made with reverse osmosis purified water.
07:51They're marketed as slow melting, making them ideal for sippable cocktails like old fashions
07:57or for dressing up like a canned soda.
07:59A box of four cubes retails for $4.99.
08:05It's a crystal clear ice cube.
08:08Four of them for $4.99.
08:11Gator, are you going to eat that?
08:12Absolutely not.
08:13Well, I'm not paying that kind of money for ice.
08:18No.
08:19And what?
08:19To put it in my freezer?
08:22Or, or, or I could simply use the ice from my refrigerator that comes out from the, that
08:30spits out the ice cubes in the freezer part.
08:32Yeah.
08:33Kang, the crystal clear ice cubes.
08:36Yeah.
08:37Not even if it came with a free Bjork CD.
08:39Like what?
08:40This isn't, I don't, I thought this was a joke.
08:43I know.
08:43That's why I was thinking, trying to tie it all together.
08:46When you were reading it, I thought you were joking.
08:48Like there, no, I get the appeal is it's the big cubes, you know, like you use for like
08:54whiskey or something.
08:55So I was at like a, like a place that had a lot of craft cocktails and it wasn't Twin
09:00Peaks.
09:00And it came with one of these giant crystal clear ice cubes.
09:03Was it cool?
09:05Yeah.
09:05Sure.
09:05Yeah.
09:06They're cool.
09:07But would I pay 499 for a box of four?
09:11It doesn't say here, these come with more protein.
09:14So yeah.
09:14Right.
09:15Yeah.
09:15How are you getting these home from the store?
09:17Well, they're slow melting.
09:18So just like anything else.
09:20So it's going to be less ice by the time you get home.
09:22No, I mean, it'll take, it's like taking anything else.
09:25You better be quick, but yeah.
09:27I mean, you get a bag of ice and you take it out for like a party or something.
09:31It's the same thing.
09:31Yeah.
09:31But do you have the bigger like ice molds?
09:34I do.
09:34Like the big people.
09:35Because I know you're a drinker.
09:36Like, you know.
09:37He's a heavy drinker.
09:39Whoa.
09:40I'm not a heavy drinker.
09:41That was a shot at you.
09:42Don't get after anymore.
09:43You look in better shape to me.
09:45Than what Doug was saying.
09:46Yeah.
09:47Thank you very much.
09:47Appreciate that.
09:49No.
09:49Have I bought the ice molds?
09:50I haven't.
09:50I haven't.
09:51I've thought about it.
09:52But you know what?
09:54It's so pretentious.
09:56Dude, it is slower melting.
09:58It's just so freaking.
09:58Yeah.
09:59I get it.
09:59But you know what?
10:00I don't mind the melt.
10:02Because if I go with a heavier pour and, you know, the water helping to dilute the drink
10:08a little bit.
10:09Yeah.
10:09It works.
10:10It's important sometimes to have that.
10:13So that you're not like.
10:14I have the big cubes and the spheres.
10:16I have like a bunch of different kinds.
10:17People have bought some of them.
10:18I mean, just for like the bar in the basement.
10:20I'm not against them.
10:21And they're cool.
10:22All three of us say no to this.
10:23Next up, Oreo is launching a new Oreo ID Summer Carnival Cookie Tin.
10:29These cookie tins feature five new fudge coated cookie flavors.
10:34Okay.
10:34What do we got?
10:34And one returning flavor that already sold out earlier this year.
10:38The flavors are hot honey cornbread, strawberry shortcake, chocolate milkshake and fries, lemonade, cotton candy.
10:50And they are bringing back a viral April Fool's Day flavor that they actually made and sold, dill pickle.
10:56Each Oreo ID flavor starts with a classic Oreo cookie that is dipped in and drizzled with flavored fudge.
11:03The dill pickle flavor sold out quickly on April Fool's Day.
11:07Gator, are you going to eat these?
11:09I mean, I didn't love all the flavors you mentioned.
11:15And then you threw in the pickle one, which is absolutely no.
11:19So I think whether a total six different kinds of.
11:23I think I was like, the idea of two of those really appealed to me.
11:28Which two?
11:29Repeat them again.
11:30Because one was.
11:30Hot honey cornbread, strawberry shortcake, chocolate milkshake and fries, lemonade, cotton candy.
11:35Yeah.
11:35So the strawberry shortcake and the chocolate milk chicken fries is intriguing to me.
11:40I'd like to try that.
11:41The other ones are eh.
11:42And then you end up with dill pickle.
11:44And that's an absolute no.
11:45Kang Yu.
11:46I agree with the strawberry shortcake.
11:48And the other one I try is lemonade.
11:49The other ones, you know, how I feel about pickle.
11:52The hot honey cornbread doesn't sound.
11:53The milkshake, chocolate milkshake.
11:55You had me there.
11:56But then the fries, dude.
11:57But that's what I'm curious.
11:58I don't need the fry part.
12:00It's that's weird.
12:00But hey, to each their own.
12:03Doug?
12:03I got to tell you, out of all these, the one that appeals the most to me is the hot
12:06honey cornbread.
12:07I would be intrigued by that one.
12:09But let's be honest.
12:10I'm never going to get these.
12:11And nobody is.
12:12I assume nobody is.
12:14Not all of them.
12:15Dairy Queen is introducing three new blizzard cups and a patriotic slush float.
12:20Here we go.
12:21The patriotic slush float is what we're going to focus on.
12:24The float features layers of cherry mist slush, soft serve, and blue raspberry misty slush with star sprinkles.
12:33It is available for $2.50 from June 29th to July 5th.
12:38Gator, are you going to eat that?
12:39Probably not.
12:40It doesn't sound terrible.
12:42It's just that I don't want to combine slush with my frost, you know, or not frosty.
12:49It's a blizzard.
12:51Yeah.
12:51Wrong store.
12:53Just give me a blizzard.
12:55I don't need the other stuff.
12:56And I'm not a big sprinkles fan.
12:58So I love blizzards, but this one doesn't sound good to me.
13:01Can you?
13:03I'm probably out on this.
13:05If I'm going to do it, I'd just rather have a more traditional version.
13:08I don't need this.
13:09This seems probably above what I would probably like.
13:12Yeah.
13:13I mean, look, my standard doesn't sound better than a regular blizzard, and this does not.
13:18It's from the same place.
13:19I know.
13:19It's crazy.
13:20But, you know, I go there and I get the blizzard.
13:22I pass on everything else, and this will be another one that I pass on.
13:25And there it is.
13:26Another edition of Are You Going to Eat That?
13:28Hey, A.J. Hinch, do you and Scott Harris talk about the trade deadline?
13:32Hear what the Tiger manager told our morning show straight ahead here on Carson Anderson on 97.1.
