Is Willson Contreras the leader of this team?? Should Red Sox not only keep him through the MLB Trade Deadline, but extend him long-term? Just how good has Contreras been offensively for this team?
BENCHES CLEAR! What happened with Cade Cavali and Willson Contreras? What did Cavali do/say? Greg: "I don't know what is going on with guys on this team, who can't help themselves, when it comes to responding to trolls"

00:00If I'm looking at the Red Sox here, there's one thing that I don't want to see the Red Sox
00:04do, especially when we talk about this pivot time, because I think he's somebody that it's not like you can
00:10build around for the, you know, the, the, the, the longer future is Wilson Contreras.
00:17I would love to Red Sox to extend him on a two year deal. I know he's got two years
00:22left with the team. People talked about possibly trading him and his trade value. I think he's a guy you
00:27extend for two years.
00:28He's shown that, you know, he's a really good first baseman. He's probably on pace at 30 plus home runs.
00:33He's a right-handed, you know, power bat that you have in the lineup.
00:37And if you can extend him and have him be, you know, I think he's maybe 35 years old. So
00:43you get them to about 38, 39 years old. I think he could still be very productive.
00:47And he's a guy that I think fits well in Boston. He, he fits well in that clubhouse. So as
00:54the Red Sox kind of head towards the trade deadline,
00:57I'm hoping this is one guy that they say, you know what? He's somebody that we feel like is untouchable
01:04and we want to extend him to kind of help us in this immediate future with getting back into the
01:09mix of being a playoff contender.
01:11And he was heated last night and rightly so, you said. Yes. Yeah. I mean, I think, you know, Cade
01:16Cavalli, we all heard it.
01:18You could hear it on the broadcast loud and clear, I guess, said, sit down, boy. Yeah. And, and so
01:25that is also was chirping at him. Yeah.
01:28Uh, now there's some question about, uh, was it, was it prior to the start? No, maybe the first inning
01:36or second, whatever it was that, uh, no, I guess it was maybe, uh, warmups, uh, that Contreras almost ran
01:44into him or something.
01:45He brushed by him. He brushed by him. And that's what started the whole thing or something.
01:50And Contreras talked about after the game, how like, you know, he's obviously dealing with a lot, you know, getting
01:56thrown out for tapping his helmet.
01:57And he's dealing with the stuff in Venezuela. So a lot of stuff is going on. And he felt, he
02:02felt like, well, why is this guy chirping me?
02:04I'm just, you know, he struck me out. I'm headed back to the dugout. And then he just said he
02:10snapped.
02:10Do you think it looked like he was going to throw his helmet at him?
02:13Uh, not initially, but then it looked like something was said again.
02:18Yeah. Cause we don't know what's going on in them scrums. And it looked like he said something.
02:22Then that's what really led to Contreras trying to jump because he jumped up like he was going to throw
02:27it.
02:27And didn't. And then he was like, then something was said.
02:30Then he jumped up and he was like, the hell with this and through somebody is somebody going to throw
02:34at somebody tonight in retribution.
02:36I would hope. Um, no, yeah.
02:39I usually doesn't happen anymore. Curtis. Well, isn't it when somebody's thrown at is when they retaliate?
02:44Not if it's, I don't know. Peyton totally seems kind of nuts enough to throw at somebody tonight.
02:48I would, I would like that from Peyton totally.
02:50I would do. I like everything that he's done so far. So it's, it's hard for him to miss, but
02:56they didn't throw at any of the Red Sox plays.
02:58It was just a strikeout. And then they got into a little, you know, jaw japping. And then that's what
03:03ended up happening.
03:04I don't know what is going on with guys on this team who can't help themselves when it comes to
03:13responding to trolls.
03:15And there's a little bit of a thing going on where, uh, he was on the social medias last night
03:21and a fan referred to him, uh, using the P word.
03:28Uh, and then he went, uh, LB on him and said, uh, come to Fenway and fight me, uh, essentially.
03:36Right. Um, so, uh, you know, LB used to say 20 guest street kid, uh, and was ready to, he
03:43was ready to hot feed it up and, uh, he could, he could, he could back it up.
03:46Hell yeah. I don't know. Show up. You better be ready.
03:49I don't know that the Red Sox, uh, we find out from Sam Kennedy tomorrow. I don't know that they
03:55want their players, uh, telling fans to come to the ballpark to fight them.
04:00I, I don't, I don't know where they said.
04:02Mego and I were having this conversation and it was kind of off air and it was interesting.
04:06Kind of?
04:06Of, of how today I feel like our society is soft.
04:13Like back in the day, I would have been like, you're talking ish.
04:18And if he says, show up, you know, come meet me after this stadium, meet me outside.
04:24Nowadays people be like, oh, athletes can't do that. You got to be bigger than that.
04:27But there's still human beings at the end of the day. You can talk this trash and you could say
04:32all these things.
04:33But as soon as I clap back at you, that I'm in the wrong as an athlete.
04:38And I think with the Contreras or like even the LB thing, like there are some people like rather than
04:43being a keyboard tough guy,
04:45won't you show up and we can settle it like men.
04:48And then they're like, whoa, whoa, why do we got to resort to violence?
04:51Well, you're, you're basically saying all types of reckless stuff to me, telling me that go F myself.
04:57I'm a P word.
04:58And you're saying that that's not supposed to bother you.
05:01If somebody walked by in the street and got in your face and said, F you, you P word.
05:08Yeah.
05:08That's not the way it's happening though.
05:10It's on social media.
05:12Social media.
05:13People say, people say, do people not say, make outrageous comments to you on social media?
05:19No, because they make them to me all the time.
05:21If I even pay attention.
05:22Yeah.
05:22I don't really pay attention.
05:23I don't know why Jalen Brown or Jaren, what's that?
05:26They do every day.
05:27Of course.
05:27I don't know why they pay any attention to it.
05:30Like, but nobody's ever said F you, you P word on social media to me.
05:35Or at least I'd never like, you're lucky then.
05:37Clearly you do not look at the comments.
05:39I don't look at the, I don't look at the comments.
05:41Have you ever opened your DMs?
05:43Yeah.
05:43But it's usually like people like, you know, sending, liking things that I posted or whatever.
05:49But no one's ever said F you, you, F and P word.
05:52They might've been like, oh, he's fat.
05:54He's stupid.
05:54He don't know what he's saying.
05:55Where he can't talk, blah, blah, blah.
05:57But nothing like this, this, if somebody tells you to go F yourself, it's completely different
06:03than somebody being like, oh, you're fat and you can't speak.
06:06Why?
06:07What do you mean?
06:07Why?
06:08Because that doesn't bother you telling me to go F myself is you are basically telling
06:13me that I'm a piece of ish in my mind.
06:17If you have the nerve to tell me to go F myself, then you, then you, it happens all
06:23the time.
06:23Like all the time.
06:24I've never had that.
06:25It happens all the time.
06:26I've never seen, nobody's ever said that to me.
06:28Yeah.
06:29I mean, but if somebody did, I would respond to them.
06:31I might respond in the LB.
06:33So you, and you think that the Patriots organization would have been, if social media was what
06:38it was, they'd be fine with you saying, come down to Boston stadium and fight me after
06:43the football.
06:43No, no, no.
06:43They wouldn't be fine with that.
06:45Of course not.
06:45It's Gillette.
06:46We pay them.
06:47They pay us rather.
06:48They wouldn't be fine.
06:49They wouldn't be fine with that.
06:52But if I responded that way, if clearly they're not going to be fine with it, but I have the
06:58right to respond that way.
07:00Cause I would then sit to them and I would say the same thing I'm saying to you guys.
07:03I would say Robert Kraft, how would you feel if somebody told you to go F yourself?
07:06There is a great video of Bill Belichick and Tom Brady entering a Superbowl 49 and it's
07:13right after Deflategate, obviously Spygate, and they're waiting to enter and be introduced
07:19onto the field.
07:20And there are Seahawks fans just on top of them screaming the most vile things to Bill
07:29and Tom and the team.
07:30And they just stand there.
07:33Soically, and it made the comeback even more impressive in that fourth quarter.
07:38Cause you're thinking like the whole world is against you.
07:41And think about what that feels like when you're Bill Belichick and Tom Brady accomplishing
07:46what they had with everything on the line in that game.
07:49And they didn't flinch.
07:51And I feel like that's what great players do.
07:53Yeah.
07:53But see, you can't, that's where you and I differ.
07:56It's not about great players.
07:58Yeah.
07:58There are some people who don't respond that way and I get it, but there are other.
08:02Could you imagine if they tried to climb into the stands before the Superbowl?
08:06Right.
08:06But listen, climbing in the stands.
08:09Okay.
08:09I get it.
08:10But they're...
08:10Milbury did that, by the way, and a bunch of the Bruins guys.
08:13So it met a world peace.
08:14Yeah.
08:14But they're like, see, and this is where I think this is where I differ from that opinion
08:20with Curtis, is that we, and I'm from a world, and a lot of people are from a world, not
08:27everybody
08:27handles criticism the same way, or you talking ish about them.
08:31There are some people, like LB, if you talk about them, will say, okay, you can talk big
08:39and bad.
08:39Why don't you bring your ass down to the station, and we can settle this?
08:43But there are a lot of people who live in this world like that.
08:47Not everybody goes the Michelle Obama route when she says, oh, when they go low...
08:52They go low, we go high.
08:53Right, but...
08:53And so...
08:54You always go high.
08:55But when...
08:56Yes.
08:56But when you say that...
08:57When you go low, we go into your house at 2 a.m.
09:00When you say that to people, they make it seem like you're in the wrong because you're
09:06choosing to go that way.
09:07I don't know if, like...
09:08I don't know.
09:09I think they're on the other side, Wiggy, though.
09:12Sometimes if you're like, oh, I'm going to turn the other cheek, I'm going to, like, try
09:16to be above this, then people will be like, oh, they don't have anything to say back.
09:19Look at them.
09:20Yeah.
09:20They don't have anything to say.
09:22And it's like, I quite frankly just don't want to get into it with you.
09:24You know what my mother used to say to me?
09:25You know what happens when you turn the other cheek?
09:27They slap you in the other one.
09:29They can turn it again.
09:30But why don't we get...
09:32And they just keep slapping you.
09:34Listen.
09:34Sooner or later, you got to hit back.
09:37But why don't we hear...
09:38Sounds like a time.
09:39Why don't we hear about this same kind of thing happening when it comes to Mets players,
09:45to other teams that are struggling, where they are...
09:48I bet it does happen.
09:50Which is what happened.
09:50Wiggy, I don't hear anything about it.
09:52They're not getting people removed from the park who are saying negative things.
09:56They're not telling people to come fight them.
09:59The Yankees fan had...
10:01I remember there was a story about how the Yankees fan had some people removed.
10:04So I bet it happens all the time.
10:06That's what I don't like.
10:07I don't care about if an athlete...
10:09It's different if you're using slurs.
10:11If an athlete claps back at a fan, like shouts something back...
10:15What's the exact wording of the response from Wilson Contreras?
10:18Wilson Contreras wrote back to this person on Instagram,
10:22Come meet me at Fenway.
10:24What's the problem there?
10:25There's no problem with that.
10:26Come meet me at Fenway.
10:28Right.
10:28Well, but then you know what people are going to say?
10:29Well, he's threatening the guy.
10:31Whatever.
10:31Like, to me, that's fine.
10:33It's when you go...
10:34You could be offering him front row seats, Wiggy.
10:36When you go, remove them.
10:37Remove them from the premises.
10:39Because he's shouting my batting average through five innings.
10:43Meg, you are a very smart young lady.
10:47And when you say...
10:48Do you think I'm young?
10:49Oh, are you like...
10:50How old are you?
10:51Like 33?
10:51Something like that.
10:52All right.
10:52Although, at one point, you felt she was kind of frumpy.
10:55Yeah.
10:55When it came to what she wears.
10:58Not sure there was a kind of.
10:59The Adam Sandler dress.
11:00Not when you see her on the yacht in the clear heels and the thong.
11:05Thong bikini.
11:06We have to match again, Meggo.
11:08In the kini.
11:08It's going to be like Big Pimpin'.
11:10Right.
11:11But you know we live in a world where when people say that, like what Contreras said,
11:18there are instantly going to be a ton of people go, oh, why is he threatening this guy?
11:23Yeah.
11:23That's the world we live in in 2026.
11:25And it might not bother you, but the world that we live in, people are going to go like,
11:29oh, you threatening me.
