00:00The news is flying off the shelves, and I'll start with the biggest story.
00:07Drake did a party this weekend.
00:11Okay, I'm kidding.
00:12That's not the biggest story.
00:13I'm sorry.
00:14Andrew Wiggins opts into his contract with the Miami Heat.
00:19And now, since then, we have had some more updates.
00:22He reaches a three-year, $64 million deal and intends to stay with the Miami Heat as that third piece
00:31there.
00:31Leroy, you immediately, when we discussed Wiggins picking up his option, thought this meant that he was gone, that this
00:39would result in a trade.
00:40No, I didn't.
00:43This is where I went wrong.
00:45I didn't.
00:48I don't know what the cap is.
00:53I don't know if they still can split that money over some years and it gives them cap relief or
00:59it's just what it is for this year.
01:01I thought that if he signed an extension, he would opt out.
01:07But he signed the extension and opted in, which is like, you know, it's like I thought one or the
01:16other would happen.
01:17So, that's kind of where I went a little off on what I thought could happen.
01:25So, that's why I would have guessed when he opted in that, okay, that's what the Heat do.
01:32The Heat trade or trade guys that are on the last year of their deal.
01:35So, does that mean Andrew Wiggins is going to get traded because he doesn't have?
01:39But then, boom, they signed him for an extension.
01:42So, I'm just glad he's going to be here.
01:46Well, we have more and more ideas as how the roster is going to shape out with this move.
01:55Now, essentially, the eyes are on Norman Powell.
01:59I would guess.
02:01I don't know because here's the real.
02:03I can't trust you anymore, Leroy.
02:04No, but the reality of it is, is that that almost sounds like a norm contract.
02:14Three years, 64.
02:18So, are you saying that because they signed that, that they don't have the money left over?
02:24I mean, you can always make money or try to make it show up some kind of way.
02:30I would guess that they don't want to offer him that much.
02:38So, I don't know.
02:41Well, Tim Reynolds is reporting, like you had mentioned, that this is one of those deals where it looks like
02:48it'll be $30 million year one number decreases in years two and three.
02:56So, now, Dade South is, it's strange to use him as a report.
03:02Dade South reports $30 million this season, $17 million next year.
03:10So, you know, I'm not sure how that affects the cap, how that allows us to work some things for
03:17next year.
03:18Because I feel like if he's only accounting for $17 million next year, that feels like that can completely open
03:26things up for us.
03:27You know, especially since we don't have the draft picks that we had.
03:29But, Barry Jackson says he can use 12, well, Dade South says that Barry Jackson says, which I trust Dade
03:40South at this point.
03:41And if he's wrong, I've been more wrong on everything else.
03:43I don't care.
03:44I'm just going to read it verbatim.
03:45He can use about $12 million of its $15 million mid-level exception this season and remain under the $209
03:52million hard cap.
03:53Presumably the other players that they sign are on minimum deals.
03:57Wiggins' three-year $64 million deal includes an opt-out for the 28-29 season.
04:04And there's potential that Drew Smith could get cut and Klay Thompson will never be allowed in the building.
04:12That's strange.
04:13Why didn't they put that into Wiggins' contract?
04:15I'm not sure why they would put that into his contract.
04:21Yeah, so that is what we had all been waiting for in regards to the Miami Heat and Andrew Wiggins.
04:27He had a 5 p.m. deadline.
04:29And here we are, 1.10 p.m. Eastern Standard Time.
04:32And the decision has been made.
04:35Andrew Wiggins is a part of the Miami Heat future.
04:38And the cornerstone for the building process seems like it'll revolve around Giannis, Bam, and Andrew Wiggins.
04:50Which, you know, the trios that I have been giving you in the past maybe included Bam, Tyler, Jimmy, Jimmy,
05:01Goron, Bam.
05:03Some sort of combination that involved Bam and other pieces, but never as strong or solidified as the three that
05:11we are looking at right now.
05:13Right.
05:14Giannis, Bam, Andrew Wiggins.
05:16That's it.
05:17You know, constantly we're like, you know, what do the Miami Heat need?
05:20We need that guy who, when it's, you know, time to take the shot, it's going to be him.
05:25You know, we try to force that upon Bam.
05:27We try to force that upon Tyler.
05:29Now we have that guy.
05:31And then it's a consistency.
05:32Every night it's four different guys plus Bam.
05:36And who the hell is it going to be tonight?
05:39And now that consistency is established with these are your guys.
05:43Obviously injuries are going to have the last word and whatever the hell happens.
05:46Nothing you can do to avoid that.
05:48But the consistency that the Miami Heat fan had clamored for is here.
05:52It's definitely here.
05:53And if there's anything Miami can do is develop the hell out of an undrafted or a role player of
05:59some sort.
05:59So now that you have your three main pieces in place, future's looking bright in South Florida.
06:06Well, now you just add a couple of pieces, a couple of shooters.
06:10Yeah, get rid of Drew Smith.
06:14By the way, your team got substantially better defensively.
06:17How's that?
06:18These headlines brought to you by Dural Volkswagen, home of the Pricito, our lowest price.
06:22Visit us at Dural Volkswagen or at DuralVoltsWagon.com.
06:26We mentioned Marlins back in action today.
06:28Hottest team in baseball.
06:30We got some World Cup action as well.
06:32But biggest story, of course, in South Florida was monitoring this right here.
06:36And again, if you're just tuning in, breaking news.
06:39Andrew Wiggins has not only opted in to his $30 million contract with the Miami Heat.
06:43He has signed an extension.
06:46$64 million, three years, as reported by Dade South and no one else.
06:52You heard it here first.
06:53Dade South reported it.
06:57Brittany, first thoughts that come to your mind when you hear Andrew Wiggins, the big three of Andrew Wiggins, Bam
07:05Adebayo, and Giannis Antetokounmpo.
07:10Size.
07:11And I'm happy about that.
07:12I think it spreads the floor a lot.
07:13I'm happy that Wiggins comes back.
07:15It's a good one.
07:17I mean, yeah.
07:17It is the truth.
07:20That is, hey, that's one that I even kind of forgot.
07:24Because, you know, I'm so focused on the departure of Kalel Ware and what I thought was going to be
07:31the cornerstone of our interior defense.
07:34And I love Kalel Ware and thought, you know, this hasn't been a Miami Heat player for a long time.
07:40And obviously, you know, business happens.
07:42But, yeah, you're right.
07:44With the solidifying of this Andrew Wiggins, now you have, you got length and size.
07:50And that's, you know, you can probably still bolster it a little bit more.
07:53But that's an excellent word.
07:54What about you, Figgy?
07:55First thoughts now that you hear Miami Heat big three of Andrew Wiggins, Giannis Antetokounmpo, and Bam Adebayo.
08:04I mean, I'm happy.
08:06And especially being Leroy's spirit.
08:09I know he's really happy, too.
08:12This is your guy.
08:13That's my guy.
08:15That's my guy.
08:16He has the personality of a grapefruit, but that's okay.
08:19Okay.
08:20All right.
08:20He does.
08:21Why do you have to do that?
08:24He's a quiet dude.
08:26Is he sour?
08:30You're calling him a sour guy?
08:31I just say he gives nothing.
08:33He doesn't do anything.
08:34He's a citrus.
08:35You called him a citrus.
08:36Yeah.
08:37I did.
08:38Well, yeah.
08:39I didn't see this going that way.
08:41You can't deny, though, that your appreciation of him, though.
08:47Everybody knows he's one of my favorite players.
08:50You called him a citrus.
08:51I thought you were going to say other things.
08:53I'm excited he's on the team.
08:55I want to, like.
08:56Call him a grapefruit.
08:57Dude, you know it hurts.
08:59It hurts me as an athlete.
09:01It hurts me as a fan.
09:03To see this man score 20 points in the first quarter and then don't shoot to the end of
09:08a game.
09:09Right?
09:10Like, that hurts.
09:13Yeah.
09:14You know, I did.
09:15I wouldn't call him a grapefruit.
09:16But I did have some interactions with the players at Heat Media Day.
09:23And he did give me a look like it just was like he was not for my shenanigans at all.
09:30Kalel Ware and I had a three point.
09:32Well, you know, and I get that.
09:34And I appreciate that.
09:35He means business.
09:35And it's like some people have that.
09:37I know.
09:38I'm not.
09:39Listen.
09:40Listen.
09:43I like him as a player.
09:45Yeah.
09:46I'm just saying.
09:47I don't know.
09:48Like, I mean.
09:51Man.
09:52I even did like a like, you know, the the little basketball hoop that I had.
09:58Right.
09:58I'm doing a shooting contest.
09:59Kalel.
10:00Kalel Ware misses me and him, you know, go back and forth, make some shots.
10:04I do the same thing.
10:05I introduce it to Andrew Wiggins as he walks in.
10:07He shoots the ball.
10:08Misses.
10:09Doesn't look again.
10:09Doesn't care.
10:10Just completely locked in on.
10:11Let me just get this.
10:12Your turn number.
10:13I wasn't.
10:14Kalel Ware is like 21 years old.
10:17And Andrew Wiggins is a grown man.
10:19Andrew Wiggins.
10:20How old is Andrew Wiggins?
10:21He's 31.
10:23Andrew Wiggins carries himself.
10:24Like, I ain't got time for you kids.
10:26He's old like Figgy.
10:28Like you too, sir?
10:30What?
10:30Like you too, sir?
10:31What?
10:32Wait a minute.
10:33If anybody going to be talking about old, it ain't none of y'all.
10:37That's Gary Busey.
10:38Hell, I could add two of y'all together and y'all don't add up to my age.
10:42Let's see.
10:44Brittany's 17.
10:45So if you were to.
10:46I think you're wrong with the math department here, sir.
10:49Brittany's 25.
10:50I'm 26.
10:5226.
10:5326.
10:54And you're 32.
10:55No.
10:56Well, maybe Marcos is 32.
11:00How old are you, Marcos?
11:02I'm 32.
11:03How old?
11:04How many years is that?
11:0515.
11:06I thought you were saying me and Marcos.
11:07No, I said two of you.
11:10I didn't say the two of you.
11:12I said two of you.
11:14Did I not?
11:16Apologize.
11:16No.
11:17My math is nothing today, dammit.
11:20Wow.
11:20My math is nothing today.
11:22Because if you add two of us, it's over.
11:26Guys.
11:2626.
11:27It's 32.
11:29Mike, what are we doing here, Mike?
11:31What are we doing here?
11:32What are we doing here?
11:33Wait.
11:33Jennifer.
11:34Andrew Wiggins, okay?
11:36Can we get back to Andrew Wiggins?
11:38Yeah, Leroy.
11:39Yeah, he's like one of my favorite players.
11:41I just.
11:41Well.
11:41Like.
11:43Let's talk about his game, not about the fact that he has a personality.
11:45Hey, I'm talking about his game.
11:47You know what?
11:47I don't know Andrew Wiggins personally.
11:50He's a great guy.
11:51Then why did you make statements about the man's personality?
11:53Because I'm only looking at his basketball personality.
11:56Maybe he's shy.
11:57That's it.
11:58That's all I got.
11:59That's all I got.
11:59For the people who know him well.
12:01That's all I got.
12:02I agree, Leroy.
12:03I agree that he is a grapefruit.
12:05You know why?
12:06Because he's not as talked about as the strawberries or the bananas of the world.
12:11But he is good.
12:12A banana is not citrus, you idiot.
12:15Okay, neither is a strawberry.
12:17But I'm just saying it's not one of the popular fruits.
12:19Wait.
12:20Did you the first.
12:21I hate the fruit video.
12:24It's a widely hated fruit.
12:26No.
12:26I wouldn't say hated.
12:28What's a widely hated fruit?
12:30Grapefruit.
12:31No, it's not.
12:32Yes, it is.
12:33I had some grapefruit this morning.
12:36That's you.
12:37You know that.
12:38No.
12:38You're like the only person in the world.
12:41That was messed up.
12:42No.
12:42That was messed up.
12:43No.
12:44She said.
12:44Look at me.
12:45She said the old love grapefruit.
12:46Look at me.
12:47Jennifer.
12:48She's hiding her eyes.
12:48Look into the screen.
12:49She's hiding them.
12:50It's a shame.
12:52How do you think you're going to just sneak that one by?
12:54She did say that.
12:56I did hear that.
12:57It's like my conscience was speaking.
12:58Maybe she kind of said it quietly.
13:06I don't like grapefruit by itself.
13:11What I do like is a good citrus salad.
13:15Okay.
13:16Do you know what?
13:17Leroy, that was the fourth poor food take you've had on this show alone.
13:21No.
13:22What are you talking about?
13:24I had enough.
13:25I had enough.
13:28Grapefruit is only bad when you eat the bitter part.
13:33But if you just eat the-
13:35The whole thing is bitter.
13:36No, it's not.
13:37No, it's not.
13:39No, it's not.
13:40You're an amateur fruit eater.
13:42It's not.
13:43Okay.
13:44You know what's crazy?
13:44He goes through life saying he don't eat any of that.
13:48And now all of a sudden.
13:49We're going to say I don't eat grapefruit.
13:51All of a sudden.
13:52He's a professional grapefruit.
13:54What is the medium age of grapefruit eaters?
13:57I also say I don't watch shows without electricity.
14:01It's true.
14:01So you're a hypocrite is what I'm doing.
14:03No, I started because of COVID.
14:06All right.
14:06Let's see.
14:07Grapefruit age.
14:08Watch all the Game of Thrones in two weeks.
14:10Median age of grapefruit eaters.
14:13That is what.
14:14We have breaking news, by the way.
14:15Andrew Wiggins is just, you know, signing extension with our local team.
14:20And we are looking up the median age of grapefruit eaters.
14:23This is-
14:24I'm going to be fired.
14:24This is it.
14:25This is my last show, guys.
14:26For sure.
14:26This is my last show.
14:27If Tobin was listening to this show, he is rolling over in his-
14:31He's disappointed in all of you.
14:33In his peanut kayak of some sort.
14:35He is-
14:36You too.
14:37Angry.
