00:00Recovery efforts continue in La Guaira following the arrival of international rescue crews
00:06to the Venezuelan state.
00:07Our correspondent Belén de los Santos brings us more details.
00:12Hello studios, we continue here reporting from Los Cocos in La Guaira.
00:17In a radius of about 100 meters from where I'm in, there are at least four open rescue
00:25sites.
00:26So, four places where rescue teams are working, also community members, the neighbors from
00:34this same locality, who are actively working to try to rescue survivors.
00:42In these four sites, at least in three of them, they have or have had in the past hours
00:48active contacts with possible survivors.
00:51We've seen the rescue of one woman that we caught also when we were live reporting.
00:59Just a few moments ago, a woman.
01:02We then confirmed the more information on her case.
01:07At the moment, we thought that it was from one of the sites where a father and a son were
01:12possibly trapped.
01:14But it was from another site, just beside it, as we were saying, many different spots that
01:21are being worked on in a very close radius.
01:25This young woman, young adult, who had been trapped for the past three days.
01:31She came out.
01:33She was conscious.
01:34And it's just one of the examples of what is being lived here in La Guayra at this moment.
01:42Some estimates regarding the number of hours that have passed had said that this could be
01:50a pretty much inactive day.
01:53But we continue to see the contact with survivors.
01:57We have seen the taking out of this woman.
02:02So there are people who are still alive.
02:05Many specialists were also telling us about regarding the way that these buildings fell
02:11down and the possibility that there are like air bubbles, places where people could have
02:17been stuck in and survived throughout these days that explain that even though the estimates
02:25have said that past 72 hours will be most critical hours begin.
02:30And it's more and more difficult to find survivors.
02:33Of course, we are actually seeing this happen right now.
02:36As I speak, I was saying right behind me is one of these sites.
02:40They were just calling for paramedics and medical attention because they have an ongoing contact
02:48very close to the possible rescue.
02:51They are now operating machinery at one of the other sites, again, trying to get to that.
02:58And we have here the international brigades.
03:01We have brigades from other Venezuelan states, also doctors, firefighters who have come here
03:10to help to this particular site, La Guayra, that was very much the hardest hit one in Venezuela.
03:20We've seen all types of buildings collapse, different structures, really the strength of this between earthquakes can be seen throughout
03:30the region here, particularly
03:33in this coastal area.
03:35And all the efforts are now put into saving as many lives as possible.
03:43We have said that at least 33 people were rescued alive yesterday and we continue to see these cases up
03:51to today.
03:52We will continue monitoring everything.
03:56Also, the international brigades are operating here.
03:59We've also seen police personnel, for example, the rescue teams and centers as well.
04:05So, all hands on deck right now.
04:09There are multiple sites, so multiple things happen at the same time.
04:13We are trying to cover as many different stories to get you to try to live a little bit of
04:20what is happening right now on the ground.
04:22This is from Los Cocos, La Guayra.
04:24We will continue informing.
04:26I'll go back to you now.
