00:00Alistair paid a heartfelt tribute at its headquarters in the Venezuelan capital to the victims of the double earthquake that
00:06occurred on June 24.
00:08This event left a lasting mark on the lives of Venezuelans and also on the channel's employees, who, shortly after
00:156 downer p.m. that day, experienced a moment that changed their lives forever.
00:21The first priority was to safeguard everyone's lives, following safety protocols to evacuate all staff.
00:30Once that was done, we confirmed that everything was okay. The building appeared to be intact.
00:39Immediately, the president began contacting each of us one by one.
00:43Look, we need to spring into action. We have to go on air right away. This seems serious.
00:48We're going to go live no matter what. Of course, there were only three of us, four people total at
00:54the station.
00:54First, we had to protect the rest of the staff and go on the air with minimal equipment.
01:02After we went on the air, that's when we began to grasp the true magnitude of the earthquake and everything
01:10that had happened.
01:12The books I have in my office fell on top of me. The computer and the monitors I have there
01:19fell on top of us.
01:24But that was nothing compared to what I had to go through later, because that same day I was assigned
01:32to go down to La Guayra, and it was important to tell people what was happening.
01:39In other words, I experienced a double earthquake in that sense, first witnessing the destruction, then seeing people suffering, and
01:48that was what moved me the most.
01:57The tribute featured a special performance by the children of the youth orchestra, whose melodies comforted the grieving hearts of
02:02the Tellister staff, who had also suffered the loss of loved ones and close friends.
02:10It was a deeply emotional moment, personally and professionally. In situations like this, we worked twice as hard, both for
02:19our country, which shows incredible unity and solidarity, and professionally to convey the full magnitude of this tragedy and everything
02:27experienced.
02:29This tribute is a way to reflect and come together in support of the workers. Through music, the children express
02:37what words cannot say. It is an act of solidarity and a message of hope for all the victims.
02:50One month after the powerful earthquakes that affected thousands of families across the country, the Tellister family joins in paying
02:57tribute to the victims.
02:58In these difficult times, the channel stands with the people, holding fast to the hope that Venezuela will rise again.
03:05Hernan Tovar, Tellister, Caracas, Venezuela.
