00:00The Francisco Pimentel temporary camp houses more than 690 people and has
00:05become a shelter for families in need following the earthquakes of June 24.
00:09Our correspondent Belén de los Santos shares the details with us.
00:14Hello studios, how are you? I'm coming to you from Francisco Pimentel
00:18transitory camp. As we were saying we continue to go around these different
00:22spaces that are now sheltering so many people that were affected by the twin
00:27earthquakes of June 24 and in particular I wanted to tell you about the way in
00:33which this structures let's recall this is a school the Francisco Pimentel school
00:38west of Caracas and from one day to the other it had to be transformed into a
00:44temporary camp a place where different families from the area and from other
00:49affected sectors of Caracas of La Guaira as well they had to come here and find a
00:54place to sleep to live to eat to also receive medical assistance well what
00:59does that entail in terms of the school activities we were just talking to the
01:05director the principal of the school that is also the director of the temporary
01:10camp right now in a transition that we've seen in many of these transitory
01:14camps and they were telling us how those things are at the same time happening so
01:21the structure is transformed of course of course normal classes were suspended in
01:27order for all those people to be able to come in and take a place in which they
01:33could stay and that is what is happening at the school but that does not mean
01:38that the normal classes stopped completely they just turned into another way in
01:45this case from this school we were talking to the teachers and to the
01:49principal as well they are now doing online lessons or different forms of
01:55being able to reach the students that some of them are here right now staying in
02:01the institution and some of them of course are not they are being reached
02:05through whatsapp through different online methods sort of like going back to some of
02:11the strategies that all the educational community across the world had to bring
02:16up in the cova 19 pandemic for example while using those tragedies in order to
02:22accompany that last period of the school year electrical that the school year in
02:27Venezuela was just a few weeks from ending well how was that how is that year
02:33ending with this online process that the teachers that continue to come here to the
02:39institution are leading with the kids that are here and the ones who are don't so
02:45that they continue that process at the same time they are making up spaces right
02:52here in order to foster the practice and the educational activities for the kids
02:59who are staying in the transitory camps so that is a little bit of what is
03:03happening another dimension another aspect to keep in mind and to consider when
03:09we are taking into consideration everything that entails in terms of a transitory camp
03:16this one and all of them had to be set up in a matter of hours to respond to the
03:21emergency
03:22emergency of the twin earthquakes so that is all for now now I go back to you
